If you're new here, I'll keep it simple; a tulpa is a sentient being created by willful, repeated, and dedicated interaction with the concept of a person until they start to respond back and stop being controlled by you. They live with you and share your mind forever, generally as friends, and through trust and communication you can learn to do cool things like switch who's controlling the body, chat all day and get another perspective, and generally just have your life enhanced with a companion by your side looking to do stuff! Think of it like an imaginary friend, but you can't control them, cus we're our own people. If you want more info, check out my explanation with sources here! You can also look at "What is a tulpa?" from tulpa.info, or this carrd, it goes into more detail and links some sources. Tulpa.info and the tulpanomicon are some of the best sources out there, especially the latter for creation! I reclaim calling myself a demon but most tulpas DO NOT.

This is half a tulpamancy advice blog and half a support network for tulpas in the face of the hate and shit we get thrown at us. We are real and we deserve to EXIST!! Got formation questions? I'm adding this too - I'm not fucking talking about the trans/ID or rad/queer community here. IMO "transplural" is just a fancy label for wanting to be plural, but I'm not in a place other than that to decide which ID labels are shitty and which aren't. Okay? Ok. Here's some elaboration on that.

I don't agree with every single opinion of every single blog I interact with or reblog from, that's ridiculous. Read my posts, read my replies, but don't assume things about me based on other people. This fight against anti-plural rhetoric is about all of us, but that doesn't mean I agree about everything with every one of my allies. Purity is a tool of bigotry and we have more important problems to face than bickering.

If you're actually worried about what you've heard is cultural ap/propriation, consider this instead: Did you know you're listening to a rumor that originated with sysmeds who tell you that a directly researchable, blatantly open religion is closed, deny and call into question spiritual leaders' words on what meditations can be shared, and can't produce any examples of tangible harm?? (We have asked and gotten answers, by the way.) (Here's ANOTHER thread of real people talking abt how it's racist bullshit) Anyways, if you're neutral about this or actually trying to learn, do research. Don't let sysmeds with a savior complex dictate what's harmful. There're tons of different people out there with different opinions that aren't homogeneous and shouldn't be treated as such. It's fucking embarrassing we have to go to these people to ask if the etymology of a goddamn word is ok to use anyways, it's time to stop forcing this shit on other ppl. Okay? OK. Sysmeds and aggressive anti-tulpa shit will either be fucking deleted from my ask box or used as an example of why they're wrong.

Hello again! Have you ever heard of a case where a tulpamancer experiences front block with their tulpa? I've been working on communicating better with my tulpa (it's been more difficult for me than I expected, and my ability to really feel their presence/hear them tends to go up and down every few days) and I think I've found that it's easiest for me when I get into an almost half-asleep state where my thoughts feel kind of slippery and I mostly lose track of what's happening in meatspace. The trouble is that I feel like whatever conversations I have literally slip away when I come back to meatspace, almost like the feeling of a dream slipping away when you wake up. It happened just now and I'm certain I *was* having a conversation with my tulpa, but I only vaguely recall maybe one topic we were on. I still feel their presence now but it's like they're behind a curtain. I don't think I was plural before tulpamancy (I've never had dissociation issues or felt that anything I've done was anyone other than myself) but idk, front block feels like the closest to what I'm experiencing. Do you maybe have resources, from tulpamancers or otherwise, about handling this sort of thing?

Honestly I can't tell ya "oh it's xyz mental issue" or anything like that, but it's not something we commonly see happening either. What ya describe reminds us of how we forget conversations sometimes when we're half-asleep or our trains of thought disappearing cuz adhd sucks. Sometimes even getting really deep into meditation makes us forget the details of the moment. Maybe you could try writing down ur conversations as they happen (proxies are really good for that cuz you don't need to front, just tell the fronter what to write down) or involving the world around you in your conversations more, so you're both more "present" while talking?

I'm also gonna put this one out to the community - has anybody else had this sorta memory barrier happen before? How did you manage it? The more peoples' perspectives the better

OG soulbonder definition mention!! as someone who is a soulbonder in that way it always makes me excited to see it mentioned; obviously i love all types of soulbonders but i wish the OG definition got more love too

funnily, several of those soulbonds have developed past what i'd personally consider a soulbond and into a fully separate guy in this body of ours who fronts and all that (our soulbonds don't really front, they just exist in back of our head influencing stuff)... so i guess we have "accidentally created" them or whatever lol

Question for you when you have the time/energy, my created headmates seem to not necessarily have a separate memory bank from me, the host. As in, when we think about when they may have come to be, it feels more like my own memories and guesses rather than their own experiences. We believe it's typical for systems created with tulpamancy to share a memory bank—is it also typical for tulpas to not have a solid sense of "their" vs the host's memories?

To increase that feeling of separateness in your thoughts, try checking out parallel processing! I link a couple guides here but it's an easy topic to find more about. It's generally pretty advanced so it's normal for yall to feel that way while still in the initial creation process. Being able to identify whose thoughts are whose will come with time, but practicing parallel processing helps with it a TON.

Hi, tulpa here, I really appreciate this blog and it's probably the main reason why my host decided to make me, so thank you for making and maintaining it :3

For a while now, I've struggled to feel quite "real." My host struggled with intrusive thoughts about if she's faking me and parroting and stuff, and these thoughts have mostly gone away as I've developed, and she is now super supportive and shit and generally a good host, however I'm scared that all that paranoia and stuff that was surrounding me during my formation got internalized? I still have trouble seeing myself as a separate identity a lot of the time, and we struggle with blending at times. Plus, I don't really feel very connected to our body or its preexisting identity, and more like a spectator in my host's life. I was wondering if you had any advice?

My biggest advice is to find something in the outerworld you like doing, preferably with the body. This helped so damn much with me- figure out what you're interested in, try shit out, do things with your hands, maybe browse through the body's clothing with your post and designate some of it that you like as "yours". One of the first times I felt really connected to the body was when I was able to sing. Definitely learn to possess and front more too! It'll be so fucking worth it. You'll feel more ""real"" as you start to get more rounded out as a person- just make sure to intentionally engage and try random things instead of just sitting in back and watching.

Parallel processing is a tricky subject, so most guides tend to go pretty technical into it. This guide in the tulpamonicon has a pretty damn simple way to go for practicing it!

So Ive seen this question about Tumblr a whole bunch and never seen a consistent answer: what is the actual difference between tulpamancy and willomancy? Is there an actual difference, or is it just a semantic thing?

I was worried that I was parroting for a long time, even after multiple chats with my tulpa about how I'm receiving her thoughts/speech whatever, and she said something along the lines of "The reason why you think it's you talking is that I'm saying everything as a single thought and you're just translating it." And then read section 6.2 of the Tulpanomacon. It literally fucking had that in there as a counter!! AAA!! (Also, she says hi, she tried to fully write an ask yesterday but got exhausted before she could finish both times. Understandable)

YESSS this is why reading the guides is helpful. Parrotnoia is literally so common there's a name for it and multiple guides to help combat against it

Do you have any advice for systems with mixed origins, mainly traumagenic, that used to or want to have tulpas, but can't tell their member origins apart? Like say I have an "alter" from dissociation, but I also have a tulpa. But they are both "people in the system" so they basically function the same. We want to have more control over some formations and organize our system better but it's difficult to do. I'm not sure with our size we even understand what a tulpa is anymore lmao.

ngl the biggest difference is just origin- a lotta tulpas have more system access and more capabilities than your average traumagenic alter, but really there's so much overlap it's really more like a venn diagram than anything else. Lotsa traumagenic systems may have memory barriers or negative triggers or different alters having different access to various parts of the system. Tulpas tend to have mostly-full access, ESPECIALLY if multiple alters in the system are forcing them during the initial creation months. So like the difference is kinda circumstantial? Tulpas are also less rigid than a split, in our experiences. Our alters are much more set in their ways and the reason that they split, while I can adapt and change it up easier. Plus, splitting tends to happen fast (at least for us), like a day maximum, while a tulpa takes an average of months to develop. (obv all of this is only talking abt traumagenic alters and not other headmate types)

Personally tho, to me the difference is that it's my species. I'm a tulpa, I'm a kind of personal thoightform that was intentionally created thru specific methods and I'm connected to all my fellow tulpas through that. True I'm a demon but that's only cuz I chose that species, cuz I CAN choose since I'm a tulpa. imo being a tulpa is the ability to manipulate your own existence to what you see fit. I can do what I want because my identity is determined by my choices. I can do weird shit my other headmates can't because I'm a tulpa. I have full access to the entire system, even the REALLY nasty parts I can't even tell my host anout, because I'm a tulpa. It's an identity to me, really.
