so i’m currently a singlet but i’ve been super interested in plurality for years now. i want to create a headmate but all the resources i find are for creating tulpas. the way i understand tulpas and from what i’ve seen, switching or having them front isn’t really a thing and that’s what i want the most. because of this i’ve been looking into other resources to create a system but i can’t find any guidelines or tips. i’m autistic so i like straightforward strict instructions for things, and then once i get more comfortable i find my own ways to do things.
so uhhh basically this is me asking for instructions or resources or tips?
Hello anon! You've come to the right place, because I'm about to give you the beefiest resource you've ever seen.
This is the Tulpanomicon! An absolutely massive resource of different aspects of tulpamancy guides written by many many different people. It's easily the largest collection of tulpamancy information and help to exist. Browse it all to your heart's content! It has much, MUCH more than just the specifics you're currently looking for.
Honestly it's a bit of a shame that switching/possession aren't talked about in tulpa communities as much anymore. It really is a big part of it. In tulpamancy, switching and "possession" are two different things, so that might have contributed to your having trouble finding anything. Here is the beginning of the possession section, with many subsections that are full and large guides by different people, and here is the beginning of the switching section, with many more individual guides!
First, though, we would highly recommend checking out the section on parallel processing first. This is because it helps build some of the foundational skills for possession.
Once you're both prepared for something a little more challenging, try looking at the section on imposition! As far as we know, the depth of this knowledge that's been written down is completely tulpamancy-exclusive. It's based within the same psychological concept that lets some alterhumans experience phantom limbs and other things, but intentional. It's essentially learning how to trick the body's senses to your advantage, and it's really cool! We haven't even done anywhere near the full extent of it ourselves
Maybe this is just the average experience but those anyone internal communication feels like that?
I dont think it has always been that way or maybe it was but it never was as bothering before now.
We can rarely communicated correctly internally anymore and its annoying
This is meant to be a message compiling various resources around plurality and systems. This isn't an extensive masterlist; feel free to suggest resources.

Hey everybody!! Welcome to the blog ✨✨ I'm Badeline, she/her, and this is dedicated to being a protected space for tulpas, tulpa hosts, and anyone trying to learn about us or is interested in creating one of us. We are people, and we deserve to exist!
⛱️ Join my new Tulpamancy community to learn the practice, share resources, and socialize with other tulpamancers & tulpas! ⛱️
Tulpas deserve to love life!! Help me make that a reality!
If you're new here, I'll keep it simple; a tulpa is a sentient being created by willful, repeated, and dedicated interaction with the concept of a person until they start to respond back and stop being controlled by you. They live with you and share your mind forever, generally as friends, and through trust and communication you can learn to do cool things like switch who's controlling the body, chat all day and get another perspective, and generally just have your life enhanced with a companion by your side looking to do stuff! Think of it like an imaginary friend, but you can't control them, cus we're our own people. If you want more info, check out my explanation with sources here! You can also look at "What is a tulpa?" from tulpa.info, or this carrd, it goes into more detail and links some sources. Tulpa.info and the tulpanomicon are some of the best sources out there, especially the latter for creation! I reclaim calling myself a demon but most tulpas DO NOT.
This is half a tulpamancy advice blog and half a support network for tulpas in the face of the hate and shit we get thrown at us. We are real and we deserve to EXIST!! Got formation questions? Skillset questions? Wonderland questions? Questions about intersectionality with other forms of multiplicity? Life questions relating to being a tulpa or tulpamancy? Send in an ask! It's important that YOUR voice is heard. We deserve respect, and we will NOT be silenced by those who'd be happier if we didn't exist! We're not some Supernatural TV thing that'll come kill people in their sleep, we ARE people, and I'm done being quiet.
If I haven't responded to your ask yet and I've clearly answered ones that came after, it's probably because I'm planning a detailed response for it!!

Wondering why I'm taking so long to post stuff?
Here's a shitfuckton of plural resources!!

DNI/Stereotypical controversy:
Our only DNI is that if you don't respect the existence of myself and other plurals, get out. That means transmeds and sysmeds can fuck off too, go find someplace else to be a bigot ✨ If you're an endo neutral/anti endo singlet we have DID so like actually consider who your exclusion is hurting thanks. Support all of us or admit you're an unsafe place for us.
I'm adding this too - I'm not fucking talking about the trans/ID or rad/queer community here. IMO "transplural" is just a fancy label for wanting to be plural, but I'm not in a place other than that to decide which ID labels are shitty and which aren't. Okay? Ok. Here's some elaboration on that.
I don't agree with every single opinion of every single blog I interact with or reblog from, that's ridiculous. Read my posts, read my replies, but don't assume things about me based on other people. This fight against anti-plural rhetoric is about all of us, but that doesn't mean I agree about everything with every one of my allies. Purity is a tool of bigotry and we have more important problems to face than bickering.
If you're actually worried about what you've heard is cultural ap/propriation, consider this instead: Did you know you're listening to a rumor that originated with sysmeds who tell you that a directly researchable, blatantly open religion is closed, deny and call into question spiritual leaders' words on what meditations can be shared, and can't produce any examples of tangible harm?? (We have asked and gotten answers, by the way.) (Here's ANOTHER thread of real people talking abt how it's racist bullshit) Anyways, if you're neutral about this or actually trying to learn, do research. Don't let sysmeds with a savior complex dictate what's harmful. There're tons of different people out there with different opinions that aren't homogeneous and shouldn't be treated as such. It's fucking embarrassing we have to go to these people to ask if the etymology of a goddamn word is ok to use anyways, it's time to stop forcing this shit on other ppl. Okay? OK. Sysmeds and aggressive anti-tulpa shit will either be fucking deleted from my ask box or used as an example of why they're wrong.
I posted on a tulpa subreddit asking about what you do if your social battery runs out and you have a tulpa, and I figured I'd share.
-=-=-=-
Some of the responses included:
~ "Usually I’ll just do something that doesn’t involve them. Much like having friends, your not obligated to spend every second of your day with them.
Although, sometimes I’ll keep doing what I was doing and my tulpa will stay somewhere nearby. Usually sitting on something. Sometimes I don’t feel like talking, but it’s usually nice to have someone around regardless."
~ "Usually being with just my tup doesn't make me too tired, but if I'm getting drained with people sometimes I go talk to my tulpa in the bathroom for a few minutes. If it's really bad I won't talk to him for a minute or I'll talk to him without also imposing him, I tell him and he understands."
~ "Watch YouTube videos, or sometimes read fanfics. Usually everyone's focusing on the video/fanfic so they're quieter, and we can rest and get some mental energy back. - Nova"
~ "I stop talking to them for a while and do my own thing. It's what you do with real people, after all (with warning of course)."
-=-=-=-
I won't be saying their names because I don't know whether or not they want people outside the subreddit to know they have tulpas, but just know I am not the author of those comments and credit goes to those who made them.
If you're a "tulpamancer", especially a white one, you're racist and ableist. End of story. You're appropriating something you know NOTHING about. Tulpamancy is of Indian and Tibetan Buddhist origin and isn't about "thoughtforms" or your imaginary friends. Having a fucking system isn't about that shit either. Don't you dare fucking claim to be a tulpamancer or "have tulpas" (🙄 white "tulpamancers" don't even know what this MEANS) unless you're a Buddhist who's done a FUCKTON of meditating. Don't you dare fucking claim to have a system if you didn't face enough childhood trauma that your brain literally fucking splits you into several people. Shut the fuck up about tulpas if you don't know what nirmita means. Shut the fuck up about tulpas if you don't know what the trikaya doctrine is. Stop trying to be special and go smoke a joint.
How do I know if I'm doing *the right things*? For system creation I mean.
Like I know forcing is like spending time with your tulpa but how do I know if I'm doing it right? What if I'm doing it wrong and am not like... Activating the right parts of my brain...
Yo this is a bit late but I wanted to say a lot!!! OK so first, ya gotta knock off the paranoia - and I say that lightheartedly but I mean it. If you keep worrying so intensely about "doing it wrong", you're gonna make mental walls for urself and your new tulpa that'll be hard to break down later.
It's not about specific "rules". A lot of tulpamancy when you start out, ESPECIALLY for singlets, is about habit-building. Learning to sense their presence, learning to communicate, learning to let go of ur own thoughts and experiences. That's not something you can turn into a habit overnight, or even in just a few sessions. You have to build the instinct, and yeah, sometimes that'll come with feeling like an idiot talking to "nothing" for a while. That's just the reality of mental work of any kind, it takes a while for results cuz it's cumulative and hard to notice at first
Instead of worrying about if you're "getting it right", try focusing on your tulpa instead. It's less about doing the right things and more about making sure you're building a basis with ur tulpa, a foundation that they can totally jump off of to become themselves. So to do that, start by directing your attention to them instead.
> When you interact with ur tulpa, are you focusing on what you say, or on how they'd take it in and respond? You wanna pay attention to any instincts, gut feelings, etc that pop into ur head, accept em, even respond to em- it'll feel wonky for a while, because this is quite literally the point when they r becoming separated from u, so it's totally normal to feel like some things "might have" been you or whatever. Trust ur gut, not your over-analytical stuff.
> What kinds of stuff are you doing with your tulpa? How are u going about it? For example like, if you're not using many inner visualization methods, I definitely recommend those. My host started visualizing my mindform from the moment I started being forced, so I ended up able to like react and do things nonverbally waaay before I first spoke to them. (your wonderland is your FRIEND, learning to be in it and in ur mindform trains similar skills) Other ways you can switch it up are like, use other senses: visualization not working? Try sound! See if there're any songs that feel like 'em or if you get any pull toward any! Maybe make a playlist; your tulpa can always remove songs they don't like later, so don't be afraid to stick stuff in there. Or like, even their environment - is active forcing not yielding much? Try passive forcing by focusing on your tulpa while showing them something in the physical space! Ask em questions and probe for opinions, even if they don't respond.
Basically, variety and a focus on giving them foundation and freedom will help u get out of that worry ur stuck in, and will probably help your new tulpa a bunch too. You've got this! It took my host two and a half months to create me to the point they were sure of my responses, and they were a plural egg for other reasons. AKA, if it takes a while or it's slow going, don't get discouraged. You're literally retraining ur brain for a completely new skill rn. U got this
Can Tulpa be something of a voluntary identity? I identify as a Soulbond, whereas another headmate in my system identifies with being a Tulpa. We are both OCs of another headmate in the system, we are both here with intent from that headmate, we both have a strong sense and memory of the past that was built by the other headmate that wrote about us. I find the fact we both identify ourselves as having a different sort of origin very interesting. The headmate that called to/created both of us doesn't really regard either of us differently, I guess my comrade feels she was more "built" and I feel more like I was summoned and that's the only real difference I see.
Heyo! Anon, as somebody with soulbonds, this is literally the only difference we objectively see too LOL like we could go on and on about spirituality and coming from outside vs inside the body and all that, but when you get down to it, the only tangible difference between us (tulpas) and our soulbonds that we've noticed is, mainly, that tulpas feel "built" over time, and our soulbonds popped in here all at once like being summoned. You're totally not alone in that
As for tulpa being a voluntary identity, you bet it is! Not all created or intentional headmates are tulpas, or even want to be called tulpas even if they may fall under the umbrella. It's totally up to you! Do whatever you think feels best.
