not to be all “we live in a society” but ig beauty culture is evil and is actively rotting brains
[In pre-modern Shona states, celibacy] as well could be a public demonstration of difference that commanded respect by so dramatically breaking both the rules of normative society and the dictates of economic common sense. Parents would be the first to notice if a child were developing in this abnormal way–an effeminate boy, for example, or a girl who preferred to play with boys rather than girls. Efforts would be taken to “cure” the problem, first by shaming and perhaps by a beating or two, later by consultation with n'angas [traditional healers] and appropriate sacrifices. If, after all this, the child still did not change, it could be interpreted to mean that he or she was possessed by a spirit of the opposite sex. A child in such a case would likely to be apprenticed to learn the arts of divination. As time went on, the female spirit who occupied a male body would manifest itself in increasingly feminine characteristics in the man and even, as Gelfand noted in one case, insist that the man wear women’s clothing (1964, 84-5). Some informants attest that the more flamboyant the effemininity, the more efficacious the n'anga.[26]
A male ancestor or water sprite (njuzu) whose spirit occupied a female body, meanwhile, could hardly be expected to tolerate that body having sex with a man. Aschwanden (1989, 161-4) describes such a case of a woman, Angela, being inhabited by an njuzu whose increasingly violent possessions made it impossible for her to have sex with her husband and eventually even to have fantasies about sex with men. Women in such cases would be assumed to be celibate, although they could be married to a succession of young girls who served them, in public, as a regular wife would a husband. These female wives as they reached puberty would be replaced and married off to men in the proper fashion. The celibacy or virginity of the woman so possessed could become a valued spiritual asset to a community, as one informant explained:
“There are no lesbians in our culture, but we have special women who will be given powers by strong n'angas to act as mbonga [guardians] for the chief. The woman will not marry for the rest of her life [but instead] will be pledged to a spirit that acts as guardian for the chief. For the spirit to guard the chief properly, it needs a wife, because it is obvious that a strong bodyguard must be a man. The mbonga is given the woman as his wife. She will be used as his wife without her knowledge when she is asleep. In return she is given all the favours of the chief. The mbonga will be treated as if she is someone else’s real wife because if any man tries to court her, the spirit will cause bad luck for him. That is why she will never have sex with a man.”[27]
Mbonga were often the actual sisters or aunts of the ruler. Kings depended upon them for advice as well as muti (medicine) to such an extent that “in war the mbonga was supreme” (Shire 1994, 154). Women who fulfilled this role are revered in praise poems as being among the most important founding ancestors of the clan or nation (Fortune and Hodza 1974, 70).
No historical case illustrates this role more famously than that of Nyemba, also known with the masculine honorific as VaNyemba. VaNyemba lived in the eastern part of Zimbabwe in the early to mid eighteenth century. According to senior male informants interviewed in the late 1970s, she was variously an actual lesbian, had both female and male sex organs, and was “normal” except that she kept real bullets in her vagina.[28] Accounts recorded by colonial officials remember her simply as a beautiful maiden, while among the Chihota people she is revered as both mamuna (literally, “man or husband”) and mbonga.[29] Her muti was defiled with political consequences that are still celebrated to this day.
The tradition goes as follows. VaNyemba was accompanying her brothers on an elephant-hunting expedition, providing by her abstinence from sex the muti necessary to protect them from danger. At one point the brothers entrusted her to the care of a local headman while they tracked the elephants. That headman broke the trust by raping her. Shamed, and fearful that her brothers’ lives were now in danger, VaNyemba killed herself. So heinous was the headman’s crime that an army was raised against him and he fled in ignominy. VaNyemba’s elder brother, Chihota, established his family as a new and powerful dynasty in the area.

Anyone want to learn about how third gender roles were used to fix gender non-conformity and homosexuality, which negatively affected those with intersex disorders and still failed to protect phenotypical females from sexual assault?
What a stupid thing to say. I can see that you’re cynically approaching any information about gender and social roles in non-western cultures from the point of view of proving that, what, they’re bad actually? Your myopic focus on trying to discredit anything that doesn’t affirm your reductive, biologically essentialist understanding of gender has led you to miss the point pretty spectacularly.
This post is giving information about how people understood socially-deviant behavior (including sexual behavior), and how it was discouraged, remedied, and sometimes accommodated. It also looks at what kinds of roles (elite) women were historically able to occupy in the state. Being a mbonga provided women with an option to avoid marriage and sex with men, which is significant when you consider that the central focus of sexuality in Shona society is having children within a heterosexual marriage. There is no argument in this quote other than that people who transgressed gender and sexual norms have historically existed in Zimbabwe and that there were some recognized social alternatives to heterosexual marriage.
Gender is gender and oppression regardless of culture. Regardless if there are two genders or two hundred. Regardless if genders are static or able to be transgressed. Gender is always used to punish and control female bodies, especially homosexual female bodies, for the benefit of all males regardless of what gender a male identifies as. Case in point cotton ceiling rhetoric. Trans identified males use the “cotton ceiling” theory to shame and correctively rape lesbian females.
whats better than an impoverished korean woman destroying a library of japanese pornography with her man-hating girlfriend
Lmaoooo I just denied someone from joining my local LGBT gun club because she once very confidently said to me that absolutely nobody just naturally finds vulvas arousing and doesn’t find penises arousing/you should EXAMINE why you’re aroused by bodies of partners of the same sex/actually your sexuality is either fake or evil kind of deal. If you hate homosexuals out loud, you can’t be in my fun pew pew club. Learn on YouTube like I had to smh.
Love is stored in the butch
“You’re not violated, you’re female. Pregnancy is natural. It’s nature.”
— if one more person tells me that I’m pro-rape ….
Forced into sex with someone is horrific. I know. I’ve been there. Rape is not a joke, it’s not beautiful, it’s not good. It’s wrong and it’s ugly and it’s dehumanizing. Rapists should be castersted or killed. Children should STILL not be murdered.
Your child is not rape. If anything, a new life is the one good thing that can come from something this terrible- you SHOULD NOT feel violated by giving life to a baby. It’s not “leeching off you” it’s not a sickness or an inconvenience it’s a child. Its a human. Its a person with a life that should be allowed to continue regardless of how it began.
It’s your child and you are it’s mama and the ability to give and nurture human life is something unique to women that should be celebrated instead of thrown away.
“you SHOULD NOT feel violated by giving life to a baby”
But I do feel violated. Every day. I probably always will. Because I was.
I was “lucky” - I didn’t get pregnant. Even so, when I got home the feeling of being violated was so strong that I scrubbed and scrubbed at my skin until I bled. I scrubbed at raw, bleeding tears in my skin for an hour trying to make that terrible feeling go away. One of the women in my support group would drink diluted solutions of bleach. She kept increasing the concentration to try and make the feeling go away. I don’t know if she is still alive.
One of my friends wasn’t so lucky. She was 15 when a grown man drugged and raped her. She was a child and she had to feel and watch her body change for three months because someone forced their way inside her. She had an abortion because she would rather die than go through nine months of pregnancy at FIFTEEN because a man violated her in the worst possible way.
Some people who conceive through rape feel differently, and continuing their pregnancy is their choice. For me, if I had gotten pregnant and safe, legal abortion had been denied to me, I would have rather impaled myself on a knitting needle and flushed my uterus with floor cleaner before I let any part of my rapist grow inside me.
You are a soulless human being and if you had any decency you would feel ashamed of yourself.
"woman by birth," which is why a likely-male doctor, on behalf of a patriarchal surveillance state, was the first to make that decision for you. ofc based on his lengthy experience re: scrutinizing the genitalia of infants :@)
Do you libfems ever listen to the words that come out of your porn addled heads???? “A dUr yOU tHiNK You’RE a FemAlE CUz SomeBoDY WiTh a DocTorATE iN MEdiciNe SaW yOU HaVE FeMaLE gENitAlS WhEN yUo WEre BoRNed.” That’s you. That’s what you silly children sound like.
there’s the phenomena of wlw and their experiences of loneliness within an alienating heterosexual society, and then there’s the phenomena of transmisogynistic wlw feeling lonely, and wondering why that is, and not once considering that their ongoing contempt for trans women and women as a whole radiates off them even in their offline lives
it’s similar to the phenomena of how society is misogynistic, but the most hardcore incels will often find themselves lacking in social contact w ‘normies.’ bc thankfully, a violent and often sexual fixation on a group of women Can get to a point where most other people would find it incredibly fucking weird
Imagine being OP and thinking that comparing radical lesbians (who have zero documented cases of violence or systemic power to enact oppression over trans identified males) who are silenced or ostracized from their communities to violent and misogynistic incels is feminist.
Be a handmaid to the lipstick patriarchy and continue to mock and silence radical women if you wish but when the TRAs come for you, and they will, there will no one to speak up for you dear.
Here’s an unpopular opinion that shouldn’t be unpopular: Not wanting sex is a reasonable boundary to set for literally any reason. Be it your trauma, your mental health, your sexuality, or any other factor. Your partners should respect that and they should respect you. This shouldn’t be a debate.
Funny how you can take a pic of 3 random cops & just happen to find at least one Nazi.

everyone is deleting the caption to this but this work is called “perfect lovers” by the gay artist felix gonzalez-torres. the piece is about the illness and death of his HIV-positive partner ross laycock:
For Untitled (Perfect Lovers) (1991), he synchronized two industrial clocks placed side by side. Inevitably, because batteries fail and things tend toward entropy, the clocks would slowly begin to advance at differing rates, out of sync, having moved, however briefly, perfectly together. (x)
“Don’t be afraid of the clocks, they are our time, time has been so generous to us. We imprinted time with the sweet taste of victory. We conquered fate by meeting at a certain time in a certain space. We are a product of the time, therefore we give back credit where it is due: time. We are synchronized, now and forever. I love you.” (Gonzalez-Torres, 1988)
The fact that the Midwest just got cold enough to kill you in minutes of being outside because of an unprecedented polar vortex means that our planet is now starting to become uninhabitable due to climate change. We’re going to look back on this moment for a long time to come.
Not to mention climate change starts at the poles so for Midwest zone to be hit is pretty bad.
