I would like to address my disappointment with the comic stories featuring punchline. Her first appearance was in a jokers war which, in my opinion, kind of sucked like she was first introduced and she killed Harley Quinn??? And was presented to the public as the joker’s new lover. Which was pretty much Clickbait from what we’ve seen because there is literally have been barely any mentions of her joker having any sort of romance.
I think Alexis’s launch was bad, I think she should’ve appeared and at least made the public want to vote for her in someway instead of being dropped in the middle of the Joker war??? Then we get her “backstory” which I did enjoy. I liked that I really did. She got a couple appearances here and there with the bat fam. Then she got her own comic, which I personally really enjoyed. I really liked the art style and liked where it was heading with her manipulating the public. I really liked her being an online personality and using that to her advantage because you don’t really see that in comics. The only thing that kind of messed me up is that they used a couple random people from the bat family that I had no idea who they were and I had to watch a video by casually comics debriefing that comic, so I could fully understand what they were referencing. I think it might’ve been a little better if they brought like some people she was friends with in the more villainy side of things instead of various members of the bat family.
the fact that she was able to manipulate a lot of readers that she was the victim of the Joker too is absolutely insane and I think that adding that was really good. I do think she’s a victim to Gotham city not as much as the joker I think the joker is what she ended up fixating on, but that’s another discussion for another day.
Gotham game was all right, like I honestly did not like it as much. I think it was a comic trying to establish her as her own person, but they kind of did it in a really cliché way, which didn’t make it stand out
And don’t even ask me about the Gotham city sirens reboot, like that actually disappointed me on so many levels. I’m honestly debating writing my own punchline comic because everyone else seems to be letting me down.
I think she’s a really cool character with a really cool concept and I think she’s directed towards a certain audience that being like the chronically online audience like people who understand the references and what the original writers were essentially going for.
I’m going to make more posts about her, but this is my initial rant lol
