Both of these organizations send free books to incarcerated people, and are always looking for donations - both books and money -and volunteers! (Prisoners literature project sends books everywhere but Texas - Inside Books project is just Texas).

i think part of the appeal of these stories is that even if they dont explicitly acknowledge the cis girl's attraction to the protag as gay, its so intentionally non-normative that its really hard to frame as straight. the "boys" they like are girls, and they like it that way, and are sometimes actively orchestrating making it that way. becoming a girl is not an obstacle to dating the girl you like, even if you think so. if youre a boy, become a girl.

and they really do feel like a response to stories that frame the genderbent/crossdressing protag as being deceptive when interacting with girls. its flipping the expectation on its head. not only is there nothing wrong with you being a girl, the girl you like is really into it. you are not a monster or deceiver for doing this. once again,

Honestly the whole premise and setting of SMT4 is probably my favorite, and one of the best in the series. All the games take place in a post apocalyptic demon infested tokyo of course, but SMT4 really puts in the leg work by setting up the whole Eastern Kingdom of Mikato before the big reveal.

This is probably second only to the original SMT, which had the balls to have the apocalypse happen halfway through the game and just completely wipe out the entire world map you spent hours and hours running around in and throwing all your money in the trash. Every other SMT game kind of pussies out and just has the apocalypse happen right at the start. But SMT4 here does a great job of building up to this reveal moment.
