Trying to find a girlfriend as a radical feminist is hard :(
pick 2 of 3 max:
• she’s a radical feminist
• she’s into women (i.e. she’s a lesbian or a bisexual who… actually likes women)
• she exists in real life and not just a screen
if telling the truth about someone is spreading hate then maybe the hate is deserved #food4thought
some things actually deserve to be hated on, as its how we stop or prevent them from happening.
Like a new friend!
Stack of newly acquired books and the only thing I want to read is more Shirley Jackson :/
you know, this is so real, a couple of years ago I had to start dosaging shirley jackson novels to make sure i had a new one left for a little while longer because i honestly don’t know what i’ll do when that’s no longer the case. I have one left. like i’ll reread, obvs, but there is a feeling akin to what i imagine shooting heroin feels like to encounter a yet unknown work by shirley jackson.

the nature of thestanconfessions ensures that geniuses like this go uncredited and that’s one of history’s greatest tragedies
It breaks my heart the way sweet, innocent, loving little boys get older and start being monsters to their mothers, especially in cases of divorce when the dad is neglectful and forces the mom to be the villain. My mom was really, severely neglectful and I know there's so much wrong with the way we parent our children in this culture and rebellion is normal to some extent but the thought of a mother who actually does try her best for her son, a kind of mother I wanted so badly, only for him to become a teenager and turn into a disrespectful, cruel, sexist bastard to her makes me so fucking sad. And it's so common. The norm, even. How painful it must be to give so much to a baby only for them to hate everything about you and view you as less than human
once upon a time before covid happened (and made things immesurably worse) my wife was a teacher and her older female mentor told her that a pattern they saw again and again and again with boys that were disrespectful little shits in the classroom was that they behaved that way largely because they had no discipline in their lives and no authority figures they respected or feared. dad was basically never in the picture and the mothers overcompensated by adopting a stance that their perfect precious sons could do no wrong, always accusing the teachers of ‘having it out’ for their sons specifically when behavioural points were raised, never punishing them, and basically letting them do whatever they wanted, because they thought this was the best way to show their love and devotion. and this would be happening when the boys were 11 or 12; and what my wife’s mentor told her was that in 3 or 4 years time, those same mothers that were over-doting on their sons and villainising the teachers, would be calling those teachers in tears, begging for help, crying about how their son was now bigger than them (because puberty) and as he had no respect for his mother had simply started abusing her- beating her, breaking her stuff- to get his way. and at that point there really wasn’t anything much those teachers could do to help.
Not to brag but what a time to be childless
why is it so difficult for women to understand that the public and legal treatment of amber heard has direct, palpable, and dangerous consequences for women EVERYWHERE. like what is so hard to get about that!!! “i don’t care about a rich white woman’s problems.” okay. okay but just one question. just a really quick one. what, pray tell, do you think that means for YOU
They act like it doesn’t translate because that could never be them. They’d never be a cis het white rich actress who runs her innocent old alcoholic groomer husband through the courts and gets nervous having a whole nation live streaming her personal laundry 🙄 like obviously she doesn’t matter when she’s hardly a person she’s just some stupid celebrity
yes to all of the above, but key correction- amber heard is not het, she is actually quite famously bi, and that is quite relevant because so much of the abuse depp subjected her to was tinged with hatred of her attraction to women, and so much of the abuse she suffered at the hands of the media was specifically linked to her being bi (implying that this meant that she was somehow sneaky, manipulative, greedy or otherwise a bad person). so its actually very relevant that this was an LGB woman who this happened to, and that the special flavour of misogyny she was subjected to was heavily tinged with homophobia.
oh how the mighty have fallen
This is true. I thought it had to be a smear campaign but no.
"but they have to get the funding somehow!" so do the children's charities that are trying to make up for the cutting of USAid but you don't see them selling cigarettes to children or something.
does anyone know if the women’s/lesbian magazine Maize that has lists of women’s lands is still active? and where i could find it and subscribe to it??
lol at ‘trans men don’t have penises’, but he thinks that the necrotising fleshwound he’s carved between his legs is a ‘vagina’ 😂 male delusion truly transcends all

I got an anti-choice flyer in the mail and skimmed all their points “answering” questions like what if the pregnancy is a result of rape, what if the pregnancy is dangerous to the woman, etc. And of course their answers always ended up demanding that women keep the pregnancy and give birth. My question is, so do you expect women to just go about our lives accepting that they can change at any second on any man’s whim? Accepting that at any moment we could be forced to give up 9 months of our lives and go through the physical trauma of labour and birth, and deal with the way it permanently alters our bodies…just because a man rapes us? Are our bodies never our own? Are our bodies just potential incubators at all times? How unfathomably cruel. Women’s bodies are our own. How dare you expect us to accept a life where we could be forced into pregnancy and birth at any second. I simply don’t have words for how evil and sadistic that is.
