the moment we stopped viewing the LGBT community as a necessity for civil and social rights and started viewing it as a fun club where everyone within it needs a Very Specific Sexual Identity and Everyone Is Valid and there are Hard Boundaries between every sexuality and gender was the moment we were all fucked.
When we insist every identity under the LGBT umbrella is incredibly unique and different from every other identity, there is a deep artificial divide created between bi women + lesbians, bi men + gay men, etc. thereās so much biphobia in the community and i think its rlly due to people focusing way too hard on making sure Every Identity Feels Secure and not enough on solidarity.
you guys add stone butch blues to your reading lists but i donāt think any of you actually read it considering the way youāre treating bi women like they arenāt real wlw or transhet men like they canāt resonate with lesbian experiences. Iām sure this is a fucking newsflash for you, but weāre all the same to cishets. no single sexuality under the LGBT umbrella- yes, this ABSOLUTELY includes hets, as long as theyāre trans- oppresses another. āappropriating other sexualitiesā just isnāt a thing unless youāre cishet.
The divide ppl insist is there is entirely made up and actually HELPS cishets, so can we please reduce these fake ass intracommunity conflicts and focus on real ones like transgender, specifically transfem, oppression at the hands of cisgays? or is that REAL issue too uncomfortable for you guys to handle lmao
āassigned gender at birthā means not much when nobody really sticks to it from then on out
iām baffled by the people i keep seeing definingĀ āexperiencing homophobia/transphobiaā as restricted to like, having interpersonal homophobic/transphobic abuse directed at you personally, and never encompassing anything so trivial as merelyĀ living in a society structured around the idea that you are less human and fundamentally defective and dangerous and shouldnāt exist, an idea which you cannot escape and which profoundly shapes your life and your understanding of yourself as a person, nah, why would that count
If you ever date an asexual person be sure to get the specifics of their asexuality because the level of comfort with physical contact is different for all of us.
YESĀ THIS IS SERIOUSLY IMPORTANTĀ
Alsoāthis needs to be an ongoing conversation. Sometimes things are ok for us and sometimes theyāre not. Permission once is not permission forever.
I M P O R T A N T AS SHIT
this is so important!!
would like to add that learning what people are comfortable with is⦠very important for everyone whether or not they are ace. check with people please

the day that tumblr learns that it isnāt progressive whatsoever to shame people for being attracted to men is the day the world heals. thereās nothing progressive about shaming gay and bisexual men using homophobic tactics and spreading biphobia toward bisexual women.
you know what? shaming straight women for liking men isnāt cute either. i genuinely hope that every straight girl has a fulfilling and happy relationship. when you put the blame on women for even dating āgrrr evil menā in the first place you ignore the amount of abuse that women face in relationships and you excuse the men who are misogynistic and pieces of shit by emphasizing the idea that itās normal for men to treat women like garbage.
You know, this person makes several good points, but Iāve never thought about āwhy are we basing a relationshipās validity on its sustainability?ā. I think my worldview just adjusted a bit
This is a great TikTok!
Btw, there are aroallos who don't like the term "friends with benefits" even if they like the concept of - or engage in - friendships that include sex as one of the activities they do together. They don't like the implication that sex is the only "benefit" to being friends with that person, and also seems to make others think they aren't friends in other ways. Just wanted to mention that it is a euphemism that fails many of the people who prefer that type or similar types of relationships.
Happy APAHM and hereās a poem comic about my experiences being trans and Chinese I did in three days for my English class!Ā
Hey everyone!! I just wanted to say thank you so much for 17k+ notes. This is the farthest my art has ever reached, and out of all my pieces, Iām so glad it could have been this one. Itās been so so so nice to read the tags and find it connecting with so many other people, and itās been so so so nice to see other trans Chinese people finding the comic? Itās so comforting to see other people having similar experiences to mine and itās just such a good feeling to know weāre not alone in this :) So thank you all!!!!
Oh and- Bodhisattva Guanshiyin is transfem but to clarify, she is traditionally nonbinary!!
MORE CHINESE TRANS CONTENT BLEASE
Hereās what Iām looking for: Short stories, 5,000 words or less. You, the author, must identify as trans. If you think you are trans, you are trans.
Hereās the thing: mostly, I just want to read short stories by trans people. Thatās it. Thatās the whole purpose. And itās a little self-serving, to have approached Autostraddle and asked them to let me curate a six month series, featuring six short stories by six trans authors, all because I wanted to read a bit more from people who have a couple of things in common with me (Iām trans; I write fiction)ā¦.
Hereās what Iām looking for: Short stories, 5,000 words or less (this is not a challenge, it really can be less. Longer isnāt always better). You, the author, must identify as trans. If you think you are trans, you are trans. Thereās no thematic requirement. The work need not contain queer and trans characters or content (though by all means, it can). In the name of transparency, some pieces in this series are solicited (as in, I will ask some authors directly for their work) and some will come from submissions; my hope is half and half, but I would be ecstatic to fill more of the slots from submission than solicitation. Email me at austen.osworth [at] gmail.com with the subject heading AS Trans Fiction [Your Last Name]. Attach the short story as a word document and in the body of an email, write me a paragraph (and no more than a paragraph!) introducing yourself and the story. We are paying $150 for each published short story; I wish we could pay you a million dollars for each published short story.
Clickthrough to read full guidelines! Submissions close April 30, 2021.Ā
They are also calling for artist submissions:
All pieces will have an accompanying illustration; I am planning to use all trans illustrators. If you are a trans illustrator and would like to be considered for this project (and potentially for future projects), email me a link to your portfolio website and a quick, two-sentence artist statement. Send it to austen.osworth [at] gmail.com and please use the subject heading AS Illustrator [Your Last Name]. We can pay you $100 for one published feature image; I wish we could pay you a million dollars for a published feature image.
Convenient for me, being both a writer and artist.
you might not agree but part of activism is knowing to choose your battles, because what do i care if my eighty year old grandma doesn't know the exact correct terms to refer to lgbtq+ identities as long as she supports and respects everyone, what do i care about the old man in the almacƩn that isn't online so he doesn't know every aspect of feminism who told me happy women's day when he understands the issues women are put through and supports the fight, I'd rather be met with truly kind and concerned ppl who care and have been in this fight far more time than us than all these articulate young people who at the end of the day don't truly give a shit
Please watch this.

Someone: talking about women generally or as a social class
Me: this includes me
Someone: refers to me specifically as a woman
Me: now hold on,
Not shaving and not wearing make up are literally nonbehaviors. Theyāre a complete lack of action. But doing nothing is considered masculine because women are not allowed to just be. this goes double for trans women.
reblog this version because transmisogynists donāt know how to fuck off.
