Hello, and welcome to Questionable Enby Passing Advice! This blog was inspired by @questionable-ftm-passing-advice as a silly little blog for people to share their questionable advice for passing as nonbinary, transneutral, agender, xenogender, bigender, genderfluid, aporagender and so on! If it's not strictly female, strictly male, or strictly binary, it belongs here! (That is to say, if you're transfemmasc or transmascfem or are transmasc or transfem without strictly being a trans man or trans woman, this is for you too!)

I don't know who needs to hear this, but do not ever, ever, ever let someone guilt you into not transitioning. "But you're so pretty! You'll ruin your lovely body!" "But you're my [son/daughter/boyfriend/girlfriend/mom/dad/etc.]; I can't see you any other way!" "But we need more [badass butch lesbians/women in STEM/etc.] to show women that they can do anything!" "But we need good men like you to promote healthy masculinity!" <- None of these are reasons not to transition. Transition is for you, not for others. Other peoples' indignation or sadness over your transition is not your burden to bear, and other peoples' expectations for you are not moral obligations you must fulfill. Do not live to fit inside a prescribed role in somebody else's life. You must live for yourself. Please transition.

Could never imagine gatekeeping transness from anyone. If someone came up to me and expressed that they thought they were trans, I would never be like “are you sure? are you sure you’re really trans? do you have enough dysphoria to even count as trans?” I’d just be like “yay!” “yippee!” and even “yahoo!!”

This isn't really an experience as much as it is a reminder that non-binary is a huge umbrella! I was just scrolling down through a bunch of the experiences and say a lot of people saying "I'm genderfluid so I'm not sure if this counts". Non binary is anything outside of the gender binary (man & woman), whether you're demiboy, demigirl, genderfluid (like me!), genderflux, genderqueer, gendervoid, agender, bigender, pangender, unlabeled, or anything else you are non binary and you are just as valid as any other gender identity, you count.

Fem and masc enben are real, important members of the community. I am a masc enban myself. But people *cannot* keep pushing this "are you a masc enby or a fem enby?" concept. People cannot keep treating fem and masc as the only two gender types that exist.

Stop excluding androgynous enben.

Stop excluding neutral enben.

Stop excluding null enben.

Stop excluding genderless enben.

Stop excluding xenine enben.

Stop excluding outherine enben

Stop excluding aporine enben.

Stop excluding culturally gendered enben

Stop excluding unlabeled enben.

Stop excluding multigender enben.

Stop excluding multitrans/multicis enben.

And while we're on the topic of treating enben like they have only two categories - lesbian/uranian and straight enben are completely real, and deserve to have a place in the community. HOWEVER, please stop neglecting enben (and binary people attracted to enben) who don't fall into those categories. Please stop neglecting diamoric orientations [link].

Please stop neglecting feminamoric, viramoric, symmaic, contraic, ceteramoric, tria, etc, etc. Please stop labelling every single NBLNB, NBLW, and NBLM relationship as "lesbian", "uranian", and "straight."

Please stop acting like every enban should be comfortable using the gay-straight identities.

Also, stop acting like every enban uses they/them (or that every man uses he/him or every woman uses she/her) pronouns, and stop calling enben "theys." It's very othering to hear "men, women, and theys" and exclusionary towards enben who do not use they/them. Enby/enban, person, enbies/enben, and people are all *right there.*

And please stop erasing cis and other modality enben [link.] Thank you.

Reminder that you don't have to call yourself AMAB or AFAB. You don't have to say "I'm AFAB nonbinary." Saying "I'm nonbinary" is enough. You don't need to identify with what you were assigned as by some doctor however many years ago. Mentioning your ASAB is scarcely relevant to most conversations, even those about medical transitioning.

Nonbinary is enough, you don't have to supplement it with a binary system of any kind. It doesn't matter how many people want to know your "transition direction." It doesn't matter how many people want to know what your genitals are (which wouldn't be alluded to by your assigned sex anyway). It doesn't matter how many people want to binarise you. It doesn't matter how many binary people you confuse. No one needs to binarise you. Nonbinary. Is. Enough.

I cannot produce the words to describe how deeply I am disgusted by the way a lot of people talk about being nonbinary as a temporary stepping stone to becoming "full-trans."
