VEEP ⇢ 2x06 | ANDREW
So after Catherine’s birthday party tonight, you want to grab a bite? Talk about Helsinki, strategize a little bit? I have a date for tonight. Yeah. Yeah? Who is it? Ed. Ooh. And what does Ed do? Ed Webster is a fund-raiser for the party and he’s worked for Selina for the past five years. Sue. Cracked under the questioning. He’s one of Selina’s guys?!
I do a rewatch of a lot of shows and sometimes I don't watch a show after a certain season. I drop Big Bang Theory around season 5/6, two and a half men at season 8... and Veep.
I only watch the first 4 seasons when I do a rewatch because the drop in quality between 4 and 5 is way too noticeable. It gets worse and worse as the seasons go by, too and I'm still so fucking pissed about season 7 and that finale that I just don't want to watch it.
After years, I decided to do a full rewatch of it. And oh my god. I never liked the way Amy and Dan were handled post season 4 and season 7 is a complete atrocity for their relationship. Dan is a whore, sure but first 4 seasons, we never see him get involved with a girl just because they're young and doable. He only does it if it can advance his career.
And the whole baby thing. To quote Selina, my position on abortion is this:
But the way they handled Amy's pregnancy is not pro-choice, is not feminist... I don't even know what to call it other than bullying. I'm ignoring Dan's behaviour to it completely because it's so badly written. It's comical.
But pre-season 5 Amy would not give a flying fuck what Dan is doing or thinking about. She would do what she wants, end of story. The way the writers took that decision away from her and made her dependent on the opinions of everyone around her is so infuriating.
It's also hilarious (not in the way writers intended) that Selina tells her to get an abortion because she didn't fight for women's right to choose... except Selina literally didn't fight for it. We had an abortion debate episode in season 3. Selina said a big fat nothing on this issue. She has no public opinion on this matter, she did not, in fact, fight for it.
After season 5, this show pretended to be progressive while pushing every misogynistic stereotype out there into our faces. I'm not even gonna go into how they handled Teddy and Jonah or tastelessly made fun of the "me too" movement.
Padmé Amidala in a deleted scene from:
ATTACK OF THE CLONES (2002) - dir. George Lucas
Why did they delete so many of her scenes?
The scene with her parents too
God they got rid of SO many amazing lines which add vital characterization but chose to keep in, "I hate sand."
The disrespect they've done to Jenny in Gossip Girl. None of the other characters are better than her but somehow she was made to be the evil one. Even Eric turns against her, and no that moment in the station with him telling her to not go is not good enough.
Serena throws her out of her room in Lily's apartment, Rufus constantly changes where her home is after he and Lily get together. The double standard Rufus shows to Jenny compared to Dan... no fucking wonder she is acting up and despite being the same age in season 3 as the main five was when the show started, she is still treated more like a child than others.
Not to mention she is actually the only one who is truly talented compared to everyone in the main cast. Serena trying to work in fashion at the start of season 3 was so fucking laughable when she showed no interest in it other than wearing clothes while Jenny was an exemplary worker for Eleanor when she was fucking 15.
She was my favourite when I watched the show back when it aired, she's still my favourite when I do a rewatch and the show is so much more boring when she's not in it anymore.
Also the way Damien reacted to her not wanting to go through with sex was out of character for someone who refused the golden girl Serena's advances and told her straight up she liked Jenny a lot.
While I'm at Damien, it is absolutely laughable that Chuck, the attempted rapist, is the one that comes to "rescue" Jenny from selling drugs. It's not that I don't believe this would happen, what boils my blood is how this is treated by the narrative.
Give me a fucking break Gossip Girl writers. Season 1 was your best work and it was straight down to the gutter from there with each passing season.
The real love story in Gossip Girl was Lily and Rufus, specially in that first season and no one can change my mind.
I need a place to put these thoughts out of my head so I can stop thinking about them. A little list of why I love Anne Rice and the world she created, and her vampires.
The one thing that I loved the most was probably that the vampires had no sexual desire. Greatest pleasure for a vampire was drinking blood. It was pleasurable as well as private. I liked that they didn't even liked being watched as when they fed. Looking at you Pandora.
Gender is meaningless when you're a vampire. Procreation happens by turning others with bites, not with births. The differences of female and male body disappears completely. Males are as beautiful as females; females are as strong as males.
The way the red headed witch, one of the oldest vampires, her name escapes me at the moment, tracked her lineage. That awoke something in my teenage brain. She tracked her descendants with females only because that was the only way she could be sure they were hers. And it made me realize how stupid the patriarcal system was in real world. Oh, you want to be sure the heir is yours? Just have the line track from female to female. There will be no doubt that the child is theirs.
The way Louis and Lestat interacted. Their relationship is so interesting. Lestat is controlling, insecure and acts out but Louis betrays him the first chance he gets. Yet, still they can't separate from each other. Although turning that little girl was a bitch move, Lestat.
Lestat's mother. I love love that Lestat was such a mama's boy and she was the first person he turned. But in turn her mother didn't really want to baby him. She just took off and adjusted to the vampire life. So well, in fact, that she figured out vampires could sleep in the ground during day time. I just love how wild the description of her is and in comparison how calm she is.
So far I have this much. I might make a part 2 if more thoughts crawl up in my head.
I recently rewatched The Newsroom. I always had it in my head that it was a great show and I couldn't believe it was over so early. (I don't know if it was canceled or ended as planned)
But now that I watched it years later. Season 2 and season 3 are nowhere near season 1.
The whole Genoa thing, right off the bat we know it wasn't true and I just lost interest in the story and how they got there.
On top of the main story being disinteresting; Jim going away because of Maggie, not talking to her then coming back with another girl...
They throw in Don and Sloan there on top of those 2 and Mac and Will.
I'm not against these I think in season 1 and 2, the relationships and the story were in sync, better in season 1. Somewhat good in season 2, completely unrelated in season 3.
I love Mac and Will's banter, in fact the banter between all characters. I loved how much Maggie has grown.
Now that I think about it, I love how much all of the characters have grown. My problem is with the plot lines of Season 2 and 3. They were not good.
Season 2 I accepted, they built themselves up in the first season but they had to have a defeat in the next one. I guess to show how could a false report can be made but still it felt wrong.
People as competent as them shouldn't have made a mistake like that. I guess my favourite thing in season 2 was Maggie and Gary's trip to Africa.
Season 3 again, starts off with a whistle blower, this time with Neal. I don't know, whole thing felt like it should've been a side story. I thought it was a side story until it took over the rest of the season and the side story is apparently ACN is being sold to a cartoon villain.
The cherry on top was the soap opera death of Charlie Skinner. What purpose did it serve in the story exactly? And personally, he was my favourite character and they did him dirty in that last episode.
Don't even get me started on the way Jim and Maggie got together. It was laughable.
I'm just so disappointed of the show's downfall through seasons. If you ask me, it should've ended at season 1. I can understand why season 3 only had 6 episodes.
I love the characters, all of them so well done. All have their perks and quirks, amazing to watch. Season 1 story, wonderful to follow. Season 2 and 3 all over the place, a mess.
Hello everyone,
I have long been working on a timeline of all of Star Wars media and I can finally see the light at the end. However, there is still a lot to write down.
Until I can finish up all of it I'd like to share a little part of it here. This list contains all the short stories, novels and cinematic trailers released for the Star Wars: The Old Republic or SWTOR MMO, starting with the Revan book. Enjoy!
Edit: Now with comic books! (can't believe I forgot to add them)
I have finished Jessica Jones season 2 and I just have to say, remove Trish and her weird obsession with Jess’ powers and there is literally, no problem. It is in character for her though. She had narcissistic tendencies and a hero complex in season one, she blossomed into a pain in the ass in second season.
Last thing is I love Jess’ relationship with Oscar and Vido.
I am on my first watch of the whole defenderverse (aka NMCU, Netflix Marvel), I have to say I love the opening titles and the graphics of ALL of them. All their music and the beautiful graphics are not only awesome but also captures the show, characters and reflect the comic book part of them so well.
Can't praise the teams behind each of these shows enough
Rewatching Daredevil - season 2 episode 2
Both of the scenes where Karen talks to Foggy and Matt, separately about Punisher and her experience being chased by him. I love that there is so much of her guilt coming out to the viewer.
In the conversation with Foggy, she thinks she deserves to be punished because of Wesley. There is possibly a hint of guilt there from the accident that killed her brother, too.
In the conversation with Matt, it is pretty obvious she talks about herself when she says "What is it about this city that makes good people shoot their way out of bad situations". It's such a powerful moment and incredible performance by Deborah.
Karen is not a character I always agree with but I love her so much, more so in my second watchthrough, knowing her past. She's an amazingly written character, brought to life by Deborah Ann Woll's amazing acting.
Building on Tales of The Jedi series, I want to know more about Master Sifo Dyas.
We see him in the legend comic books of The Clone Wars but I don't think there is a Canon book or comic about him out there.
I'd like something that explores him more 'cause was he working for Palps? Or did he have a vision and ordered the clones then Palps got to the kaminoens and implemented order 66? I need answers!
@fuzzyfacedeopierider that's a good tip. I'll add it to my list 👍

This is one of those nights when I have deep thoughts about something so useless in my real life but I have to get it out in the world. I want to talk about the ad board over Matt's apartment in Daredevil show.
We know that Matt doesn't need to turn on the lights to see. The big windows and the ability to change the colour of the light coming from them, using the ad board as an excuse is genius. We see it being used in both season one and season two. And I have to say I missed the view of his apartment the most in season three.
Not only the ad board is used for cinematography but it also has a place in the story as well. It answers the question: How can a lawyer who just started his practice afford a loft like that?
I just had to say it, I love it. I appreciate the thought behind something so little but adds so much to the style of the show.
Daredevil and the whole of defenders had really talented people working behind the scenes. I think it needs pointing out more than once. They need to know, both the people who made it happen and the people who makes the decision, that the team behind Daredevil did good. And they deserve the opportunity to do more quality stuff.
Okay, I've been going through the posts in this tag and noticed the parallels between Dooku and Qui-gon vs Anakin and Ahsoka.
They both want to protect their padawan and worried they won't be able to. They both fall to the dark side and they're both manipulated by Palps. The difference between them is Anakin manages to teach Ahsoka the right lessons that ends up saving her life where, as much as it pains me to say it out loud, Dooku fails. And eventually Anakin manages to break through Old Sheev's manipulation and control and put an end to his evil ass.
Filoni did it again. Looking at Dooku and exploring how Qui-Gon's death effected him is brilliant. It was that one last push for him to switch to the dark side fully. Gives so much more depth to his character and I already liked him in Clone Wars.
Of course, behind it all is our old friend Sheev. Pure evil and always self serving.
