The longer I am together with my partner the less I understand why the straight women coworkers I had would spend our entire lunch break dominating the conversation with stories about how annoying and unhelpful and incompetent their husbands/boyfriends are. Like, I love a good gossip session and I love complaining as a form of social bonding, but I can't fathom wanting bitch about my partner even if I WAS irritated with some chronic behavior of theirs. I've been in situations where I'd need to vent about a friend or something and it's always been a sign that the relationship is fraying or unsustainable and needs significant change if it's going to continue. I have literally no complaints about my partner!!! Why stay in a relationship where the instant the person leaves the room you unload all the ways they suck at being your partner? I hated these conversations; they just pissed me off and it made me uncomfortable that I was expected to find it funny.
