Who has seen the wind?
Gonna sound insane but I actually rlly donât understand the obsession with becoming famous/ going viral thatâs rampant in so many ppl today regardless of age. As I get older, everyday I wish to share less of myself and less of my work. I want to be alone with the people I love and surrounded by safe and loving connection. I want a life where Iâve released my burdens and my heart is full with love. I just want to come home to the man I feel at home with and make dinner before we both fall asleep on the couch. I donât want to be known beyond that, not even on a local level.
thereâs something about becoming older where everything feels finite. summer isnât endless, love isnât eternal. you move homes, your favorite boots fall apart, your dog dies. everything feels consuming and beautiful when it is believed to be eternal. now it is all precious. everything. and there is a melancholy that comes with it.

Youâre years too late to be recognizing the threat of US government mass surveillance, bud.
This is easily one of the CRAZIEST videos I've ever gotten. I was rafting down a river when a Yellow Jacket came, landed on my bright pink waterproof phone pouch, and started drinking from the water droplets that had gathered there.
The most amazing part is how the water droplet magnifies the Hornet's mouth parts, so you get to see them up-close!!!! It was FASCINATING to witness!
Here's some of my favorite still shots from that video:

ALL. OF. THIS.
a picture thatâs worth a thousand words
I went to a library book sale this weekend and I found a very old book called âElectronic Life: How to Think About Computers,â which was published in I think 1975? Iâve been reading it kind of like how I would read a historical document, and itâs lowkey fascinating
Thereâs a whole paragraph thatâs like âokay, find the keyboard. Donât panic if it has more keys than a typewriter, thatâs normal. Really, itâs fine. The extra keys donât make things harder. Itâs FINEâ
Thought this section was particularly interesting:
Can the computer create something? At first glance it seems obvious that it can. Animated computer graphics, with their fluid transitions and whiplash perspectives, look strikingly new. And if one watches the machine doing animation work, there seem to be lengthy periods when the computer is acting âon its own.â
But if one observes these processes in more detail, it becomes clear that creation is not occurring within the machine. First of all, computer graphics are not unique. Computers have yet to generate anything that cannot be done by handâand usually already has been done. Second, the apparent ability of the computer to âact on its ownâ is the outcome of thousands of hours of patient human effort to refine its instructions. The computer can manipulate a shape for us if we have already informed it what a shape is, what the rules for shape manipulation are, what this specific shape is, and so forth.
You can start an automobile engine and it will run by itself, too, but that doesnât mean itâs being creative. Itâs just running.
Somebody in 1975 had a better understanding of why artificial intelligence is not in any way âintelligenceâ than the majority of todayâs intellectual minds.
âeveryone is mad at me and they just wonât tell meâ â> âno one has said anything about being mad at me and i havenât done anything to warrant being mad at so if someone is silently fuming about me and not saying anything thatâs their problem and actually quite weird of them and i can effortlessly move on with my lifeâ
this took SUCH a huge deal of unlearning because, like so many of you, i came out of a home where being quietly in trouble WAS the default state, and i DID grow up not just with the assumption but borderline religious conviction that Everyone Is Mad At Me, I Am Bad, I Must Exist In A Constant State of Attempting to Pacify The Natural Rage I Inspire In Everyone. and no it actually turns out that my family are the freaks . and yours are too
âthis isnât true because i DEFINITELY silently fume at people in the hopes theyâll figure out what they did and apologizeâ thatâs not good. you shouldnât do that
âthis isnât true because the ex-friendship that traumatized me ended explosively after they were mad at me and never told me whyâ thatâs not good. they shouldnât be doing that
âi donât think this is true because my current friend group is constantly icing me out until i figure out what ive done to upset them and properly apologized without being toldâ hey thats not good. they should not be doing that
if the peacefulness of your relationship with someone (familial, romantic, friendly, anything) can be destroyed by effective communication/asking them for effective communication, you have got to get out of there. if you canât get out of there, youâve got to throw away any ideas about what that person thinks of you because they have their own shit to figure out before they can accurately read anyone else
before trump and the creation of ANTIFA as a boogeyman, the fbi listed animal liberation and 'eco-terrorism' as the number 1 domestic terror threat.
yknow, as counterintuitive as it may seem, helping a suicidal friend isn't a matter of stopping them from dying. it's about helping to make their world one that's worth living in.
it's important to make that distinction, lest we make people's quality of life worse in the name of "protecting" them.
Every time I see that last pic, I have to note that the funniest line is the one immediately after the highlight
see now I've got all these people on my notes going "ummm well humans are omnivores, eating meat is okay for us because it's Biologically Natural" and the thing is that I also think that's a bit shit. surely we're not actually going to base our morals on what's "natural." it's also natural for a great deal of people to die as children or in childbirth. cancer is natural. it's "unnatural" to change your body with surgery or hormones or piercings or tattoos or the like. let's not be silly.
