Question: What is the greatest magic of all? Answer: Friendship, right? [B]: The greatest magic of all is not friendship, it's chronomancy, the ability to control and warp time. If friendship were the greatest magic, look, it's a pet peeve of mine (...)

28th of October 2025: Lady Beetles Congregate on the Sunny Sides of Houses.
It's so funny to me that Mary Shelley, her husband, John Polidori, and Lord Byron had a competition to see who could write the best horror story and she wrote fucking Frankenstein. Imagine losing a competition that badly. Imagine just doing a silly little competition with your friend and she basically invents a new genre and creates one of the most famous characters in fiction. Imagine being proud of your little story and then she shares one that people will still read every day in 200 years. Imagine doing a writing competition with your wife and she becomes so recognizable that you'll always be known as Mary Shelley's husband
i was gonna say “wow, they’re really pushing the came back wrong trope because buffy keeps repeating the exact phrase” until i googled and realise the phrase “came back wrong” literally originates from buffy. this show is like the modern shakespeare
in 2004 a thread started on buffistas.org to discuss tropes used in Buffy and other Whedonverse shows. At the time there were no formal names for most tropes so users assigned them names based on the scenes they were discussing. This thread inspired one of the site members to start the website TVTropes.org
Most of the listings on TVtropes were named after scenes and quotes from Buffy the Vampire Slayer
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill, and suspicion can destroy, and a thoughtless frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own for the children, and the children yet unborn. And the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.

They should add a second child and see if omelas gets more awesome
Verified: Microsoft 365 gets massive 45% price hike — and it's all to do with AI tools (Tom's Guide - January 17, 2025)
oopsie i tripped and spilled my link to archive dot org's downloadable copy of Microsoft office suite for 2007, which features no AI tools and is a powerful word processor that still holds up just fine on windows 10!
Oh dear.
I've fallen and dropped a link to a shareware open-source word-processing suite that's fully compatible and reverse-compatible with the Office suite.
will make the rest of the crew tommorow <3
Casting Benedict Cumberbatch as Khan was the most galaxy brain racebending in Hollywood bc they really thought they'd get praise for making the character less racist by making him white, because they said it'd be problematic to cast someone who wasn't white to "play a terrorist", except Khan wasn't a terrorist before, so they invented a way for it to be problematic and thought people would say "good job" for avoiding that
Help, we took a tragic mastermind and turned him into a terrorist and then made him white to avoid the stereotypes we added to our script for no reason, why are you mad at us. Where's our kudos. We did a tie-in comic where we explain that Khan had plastic surgery to turn himself white so like, it's not even a plot hole
Reading people's defenses of Into Darkness is always something bc they always act so obtuse about the reason people disliked Benedict Cumberbatch as Khan. Talking about how people always hate reinventions of characters but he was great in the role and it's like how fans always hate the new Joker and
No you dork, it's because they made a character named Khan Noonien Singh a white British man. It's because Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) somehow has more problematic and inaccurate casting than a TV episode from 1967.
That's it, that's the show
