Ketchup is pretty gross. Though I sometimes don't mind it as an adult, it's still very... vinegar. I tend to dislike and not use condiments in general, and people find it really upsetting to see me eating a plain fry. It's my fry. It's my mouth. You can eat yours with ketchup. The lesbian strength march in Leeds today was so amazing! It felt so cathartic to be with my people and have room to show my pride openly. I have felt so alienated by Pride parades in the past because they did not represent me. Today I finally found my community; Strong, kind, passionate, creative, funny, intelligent, lesbian women!

Although our banners were purely expressing lesbian pride (with slogans such as “lesbian love is beautiful”, “same sex attracted” and “lesbian is not a bad word”) and had nothing to do with trans people, we faced backlash from trans activists. They followed behind us, chanting, and at one point incited some onlookers to shout a homophobic slur at us :) so that was nice lol. We did get a lot of cheers from passers by though which was lovely and a massive show of solidarity from the Labour party’s anti-fascist protest as we passed it.

It was such a fun day and I hope we can make this an annual event that will grow in strength and numbers. I am so grateful to all the organisers, speakers and volunteers, as well as everyone who attended the march and to the women who showed up to support us.

here's a thought I'm noodling on. and it's because I bought a starbucks drink today. I was off starbucks for a long time and I caved and have been buying starbucks again over for some months. anyway, I bought a drink, got to work, and in my news feed read about how apparently there is a 60+ store strike kicking off today. that rules, tbh. and I don't think my neighborhood store is striking because I would have known about it.

but what got me is I hadn't heard about the strike. even if my store wasn't participating, I wish I would have known because I'd have like to not buy starbucks in solidarity. and I'm feeling motivated again to go off starbucks as my own personal strike anyway, and hearing workers strike spurs me. and the strikers are so smart, they started on this busy "red cup" promotion day that sbux is doing to promote their holiday menu.

but here's what I'm actually noodling on: how the internet should be the greatest tool organizers have ever had. you can have an audience of thousands, tens of thousands, even millions. think about people in the past century, what they would have done to have had access to something like a real time video streaming service, like youtube or tik tok or instagram or anything. And yet, the people work hard but the powers that be work harder. It's why our internet is clogged with so much bullshit at this point, or at least in part. It should be so scary to threaten a strike to your boss more than ever, because your strike could go viral. Except no the fuck it won't. endless endless bullshit is being push out to us at every second of every minute instead.
