The thought process behind sexophobe furries will never cease to astonish me. Imagine coming into a community with a history of presenting fetishes and kinks as its main spectacle, only for someone to come in and say, "This is sexualization/fetishizing animal characters, and it's wrong." Like, buddy, you came into the fandom that's known for this type of thing, what did you expect?
It makes it even more ironic when you also come across people who get on their soapbox about the immorality of fictional ferals who do anything that isn't an affront to the christian way, regardless if it's sfw or not—meanwhile, they can draw their anthro characters as grotesquely sexual as possible because it's under the guise of it being humanoid despite employing the same kinks and fetishes. In fact I'd say it's even worse for their case, because how would you defend such an artistic decision to fetishize an aspect of a character that is mostly animal adjacent? "No, no, I don't get off to horses, I just like drawing horse cock on my characters." Who are you trying to fool?
But even then, that's always a guarantee people will just view you or your work as "normal" because even making adult sapient humanoids who consent is still seen as wrong in the eyes of purifurs/puriteens in your otherwise fictional setting. It's pretty much "video games cause violence" rhetoric just switched around towards sexual content.
But the thing is about a lot of these purifurs, puriteens, sex disgusted individuals, and DNI people, is that they themselves are guilty of the very sins they claim to be against. If I had a quarter to fill a big jar for every person I met who preached about the "immorals" of a fictional character(s) engaging in sexual acts while also following, liking, or even making art centered around the very thing, that jar would be filled with more quarters than people would think—The people who preach the loudest are the quickest to fall into the temptations of the very things they say they contest and it just doesn't make sense to me completely. Catering to puritans while alienating the people you identify more with isn't going to give you access to being seen as more human, quite the opposite, actually.
No matter how much you white-wash, no matter how much you self-assimilate, no matter how many times you flog yourself and cater to the sensibility of the masses, at the end of the day, normies will still see you as nothing but an "animal-fucker".
This doesn't just apply to furries either; other LGBT spaces also have this problem, and I'll say this to everyone else in those communities, too: If you're going to preach aloud about the evils of sex, then you'd better dress up for church and pray to god since that's the kind of life you want to live. But I know a lot of you are too cowardly to admit it, and you just want the free trial version of being a priest without the baggage to carry along the way.
