Posting is not enough. Marching is not enough. Boycotting is not enough. Calling our representatives is not enough. We need direct action. We need to physically stop these weapons from getting to Israel.

Megalopyge is a genus of moth! In the US, the most common species is the southern flannel moth. The caterpillars (usually called puss caterpillars), as you can see above, are very cute and fuzzy! They can be grey, brown, tan, white, or even orange-ish. The one shown in the post looks like a fairly large later instar, but they can be quite tiny:

But this dude is one of the reasons I tell people not to handle bugs they can’t ID. It might be cute, but it has venomous spines on its body hidden within the hairs. It could likely crawl on your hand like above without risking injury because the underside isn’t fuzzy, but I wouldn’t risk it. If you brush the top hairs against your skin it’ll cause a rash of fluid-filled raised red bumps that radiate terrible pain away from the area. And like it says above, the pain can be so intense that it feels like a broken bone, and it can last hours.

It’s recommended that if you come in contact with one, you use tape to try to pull out any remaining hairs, wash the area with soap and water, apply an ice pack, and take an antihistamine.

On the plus side, the adult moth is VERY fuzzy and 100% safe:

Women always worked. They used to work for pennies or nothing- just room and board. My grandmother and great-grandmothers worked in laundries. Back in the day, laundry was a big deal. Especially in remote areas and the country. There were no machines. Everyone needed a laundry woman to keep up with the immense task of washing, drying and pressing clothes. They washed clothes by hand with hard soap and ironed with steel that had been heated with hot coals. I used to wonder why my grandmama would freak out if I went from the heat of sun outside straight into a cold bath. Why she screamed at me for opening the fridge too soon after standing over a pot. It's because pneumonia was so common among washerwomen. Ironing all day and then going to bed with cold feet was a deadly mistake. My grandmother lost sisters and friends that way. She was vigilant about that. Anyway, they would've loved this air-conditioned cubicle to be able to sit down. They would've loved being able to get paid the same as a professional man. Fuck these guys.

It's just like you can't really do any of these things on your own. Yes, little things like stickering and things like that. But the reason these women could do these really intense actions is because they had each other. They had an in person friend group. They had a thriving community. So all of these things that sound completely out of reach to us are, because we are not physically gathered together with complex lifelong friendships. So anything needs to start with that. That is the core of feminism to me. A passion for friends

Because when women are alone, and they try to do these things, the backlash is too much to weather alone, they burn out or fade away or go mad. We just have to be together. Finding women near you is essential. It's the first thing. And the internet is good for that, but we've got to get together off of it
