i need to gush about how incredibly seamless her compositing is in these. Compositing is incredibly hard and time consuming work on a crisp clean digital image. But compositing into what seems to be a scanned photograph that was shot on film? Insane work. The film grain + photo paper texture is matched perfectly as well as the varying softness from being slightly out of focus in different amounts in each image. Each film stock has its own specific tone too some are warmer, others are more purply, or green and they all handle contrast with light and shadow completely differently. There was so much to take into account doing this and i really dont know how she did it other than maybe finding those locations again and shooting with the same film stock on a day with similar lighting. I cannot stress enough that for professional photographers doing complex compositing is mostly relegated to having a fully locked down camera set up in studio under controlled repeatable lighting. Super impressive and a really fantastic photo series truly.

I really don’t want to come off as giving this TMRA dork any credit at all, but they have accidentally stumbled on something vaguely resembling a real issue I face where I don’t feel like I can really speak out about the sexual violence I faced as a transfem at the hands of another transfem (I was groomed). First off I don’t think transfems facing sexual abuse at the hands of other transfems is a real systematic issue, however the demographic that transfem abusers are overwhelming likely to abuse are other transfems, especially transfems more marginalized than they are. Because false accusations of abuse and sexual abuse especially grooming are so common against transfems transfeminist spaces are justifiably extremely weary of anyone making claims that they were abused by a transfem. This is kinna why I never really speak widely about my experiences being groomed ontop of just not wanted to add to the transfem groomer narrative.

It’s extremely telling however that this transmisogynists excludes voices like mine who are both the most likely to be abused by other transfems and the least able to speak up about it because we don’t have the luxury of going into tme spaces and being immediately assumed to be completely innocent victims.
