wow remember when ben killed snoke for rey because he couldn’t bear the thought of losing her so he literally deceived and killed his lifelong abuser who he’s never been able to stand up to to protect even himself instead of having to kill a girl he’s known for a short time but has fallen madly in love with

Ben’s death doesn’t work as a “release” because for the past 15 minutes we’ve already been watching a released Ben Solo—desperate to save Rey, yes, but light and confident and almost playful. Ben was already free of his pain, and he was finally living.

And his death wasn’t peaceful and with a purpose, like Luke’s. He was feeling desperate, scared. 

The decision to save her life was motivated by love, yes, but it was also a very weakening moment for him. It could have been a moment of empowerment for him, giving life to those he loved, if he lived after. Instead, it was sad and desperate, and ultimately, tragic.

Look, I don’t give a flying fuck whether you like Reylo or not. It doesn’t matter, you still shouldn’t be supporting what John Boyega is doing. It is not okay for a rich celebrity to be punching down and KNOWINGLY* inciting cyberbullying against regular people including TEENAGERS. This is an abuse of power. This is bullying.

I don’t care if you think you’re cool for being anti-Reylo and you agree with him, it’s still wrong for him to be sending people to harass others and you are a shitty person for supporting this like it’s cool and funny. Cyberbullying is not cool and funny. If Reylos were doing this shit, if Adam Driver was doing this to Finnreys, I WOULDN’T SUPPORT IT! But the fucking reality y’all don’t want to face is that this toxicity has never come from Reylos, it’s come from Finnreys and nonshipper Dudebros.

*He was reached out to respectfully by a fan who warned him that because of his giant platform, him making fun of Reylos (especially targeting specific people) was going to cause harm and he reacted with a snoring gif. And then proceeded to post a video on Instagram where he specifically targeted and shared the names of fans’ twitters.

I really need to know why those characters were created :

- General Pryde: didn’t serve any purpose apart from replacing Hux for some reason, Hux who served as a narrative shortcut since his betrayal of the FO’s arc wasn’t explored. They could have let him live, throw in the garbage the betrayal (since it doesn’t serve any purpose) and Pryde.

- The Knights of Ren: so they really were just a boy band on their rock created to look cool and sell dope merch. Their force sensitivity is absent, they could have been easily replaced by high-ranking stormtroopers and it wouldn’t have changed a thing. I hoped they were more present and created more conflict in Kylo’s soul. 

- Zorri: I really like her design and her badass vibe but truly, apart from looking good, making sure we all know that Poe isn’t gay and a narrative shortcut she’s pretty useless and doesn’t serve any purpose. She should have been the one gathering allies from her planet for the final big battle, it would have made sense if she’s part of a gang and the population of her planet is fed up with the FO.

- Jannah: I was so hopeful when she arrived, I was like “yeah finally the stormtroopers will have a bit of a story and will turn against the FO. But nah, she doesn’t even serve Finn’s arc as he doesn’t have one in this movie. Rose could have replaced her in many ways. 

As much as I liked seeing new characters on screen and I’m grateful for the people who played them, I don’t like the idea of creating characters who are either useless, either used to cover the bad writing, either to sell merch. 

We had already great characters who could have evolved once more in this third movie but were replaced for nobodies. 

I’m truly baffled

okay but we didn’t even need jj’s sad attempt at parallelism at the end of tros with the two suns because a) that’s how luke’s story began, not rey’s and b) rian johnson gave us amazing parallelism with the conclusion of luke’s story when he died in the last jedi

JJ and Chris turned rey into some conduit for OT nostalgia. She doesn’t even have her own arc. She has a hood to homage to leia. She holds Luke and Leias sabers. She’s descended from “sith royalty”.
