I'd also like to add re: Andy Serkis Sméagol, I think those of us who were around in the early aughts got a bit tired of it, especially as time passed and our recollection of the actual performance was supplanted by "guy at a party who thinks he has a really good Gollum impression."

but for those who are unaware, Serkis did an entire Lord of the Rings audiobook. it is the best audiobook performance I've maybe ever heard. he does ALL the voices and sings all the songs. his range is unbelievable and he brings so much more care and nuance to such a long and involved story than you'd expect if all you know about the guy is funny sméagol voice. I believe it's available on archive dot org as a digital library loan thing or possibly just a straight-up download.

as we've seen, corporations are generally not ideologically invested in dealing with inconvenience on behalf of political radicalism regardless of political affiliation of the clients, corporation, or the complainants. email mass reporting has worked many times in the past, and generally once doxxing sites like this have been deplatformed a few times, they get tired and give up. this is a low energy expenditure action that may be helpful, so i encourage you to take 30 seconds to copy paste it and send it, or call the number.

NameCheap is based in Phoenix, Arizona, so it is subject to USA doxxing laws. In 2021 Arizona passed HB2501 which could be read by most lawyers to cover this situation, in my non-professional opinion.

1) The sink does have a basin. It's hard to tell because of the low resolution of the screenshot, the foreshortened angle of the counter, and the fact that there's plenty of lighting coming straight from above so there isn't much of a shadow. It's visible as a very flattened oval that doesn't reflect the wall tiles as clearly as the rest of the counter:

2) That is how mirrors work! They can reflect things that are seemingly not in their "line of sight" because light is funny like that. Here's my own bathroom. Notice how a bit of the back wall is visible in the mirror, despite it being tucked waaaay back behind that sloped wall.

I encourage you to find a mirror and test this for yourself! Stand at 90 degrees to it, and see how it reflects things that are 90 degrees in the opposite direction.

Anyway, I don't think this is AI. I don't see any obvious tells, but I do see a LOT of things that AI would have a very difficult job getting right -- including the mirror, ironically. Look at the green tiles lining the arch of the tub, and their reflection in the mirror. They're different, as they should be: the mirrored ones are at more of an angle due to perspective. I could point out plenty of other things too.

idk where I picked up the ability to just be comfortable with not fucking understanding what im reading, maybe it was learning to read before I was in kindergarten and naturally blasting through books I couldn't possibly grasp or contextualize and just being fine with that because I was a tiny child, but I am begging everyone reading this to stop trying to Solve books and movies and even ARGs and spooky YouTube projects.

you must let the unanswered questions linger while you absorb the rest of the text. the author is using questions and ambiguities to create landscapes in your mind. the best kind of reading gifts you with questions you do not answer until years later, or never. the questions are gifts because they make you wonder about things, sometimes for the rest of your life

please just chill out. experience a narrative. a major factor of many challenging and grown up narratives in all mediums, written or otherwise, is ambiguity and mystery and a lack of answers. this type of negative space in good storytelling allows the reader to expand to fill that space. approaching everything you read or watch with a gamer mindset is anti-intellectual, and will prevent you from experiencing the pace and Vibe of a story because you will be stopping every four words to try to answer every single question raised by the text. that's not the correct way to read things. the unanswered question is itself a narrative tool. "[popular prestige television show] FINALLY SOLVED! (1:34:06)" fuck yourself. fuck Off. you are the enemy of all art. you are a philistine and a ruiner

Counter-opinion: given that half the reason I'm reading/watching is to get the details, I get really frustrated when I realize that even the creator didn't bother to figure out what the hell is going on. (Particular stink-eye directed at JJ Abrams here.) I genuinely can't get my head around just passively absorbing something for the 'vibe' with no thought. I don't think I'm actually able to just sit and experience something without dismantling it for data as I go any more than I can do that in a conversation, it feels like that would be identical to not paying any attention.

the ability to tell the difference between bad art that doesn't make sense and good art that isn't answering all your questions is one of the things you sacrifice by "dismantling it for data"

it's like how a necessary skill of visual artists is knowing how to zoom in and out of the piece you're working on (edit: and I don't mean zooming in and out in your art software, you do this on paper too). you HAVE to occasionally pull back and literally let your eyes unfocus a little as you reappraise the piece as a whole. you can tell when someone hasn't done it and that all they know or care how to do is drill down on the details, because their finished piece is nothing but a hundred details smushed together and it doesn't look good.

"pull back and let your eyes (metaphorically) unfocus a little" is also a skill that applies to reading and watching, and to the uninitiated it might sound like "just turn your brain off and enjoy the show, poindexter" but it is not

Besides the obvious, the hidden benefit of this is that it provides an endpoint to runaway growth.

The biggest problem with capitalism, the reason it's so destructive to the planet and to the workers and even, ultimately, to the capitalists, is that, after a certain point, the money's just a way of keeping score. The number at the bottom of the column has no bearing on what you can buy or do; as a result, there's no such thing as enough. The number can always be bigger.

Under this proposal, once you hit $1 billion, you've won capitalism. You beat the game, achieved the maximum score; you're finished. There's nothing more you can accumulate. You now have to find a purpose in life other that the relentless pursuit of profit. (And if we're really lucky, it might be something that actually benefits other people, but even if not, it's unlikely to be as damaging as whatever it is you were doing to get that $1 billion.)

Instead of companies expanding endlessly, like tumors, there's a point where, when all the major stakeholders are maxing out on profit, it makes sense to just hold steady. Keep doing/making/selling whatever it is you do/sell/make, but stop trying to do/sell/make more of it every year.

The problem with a tumor--what makes it cancer--is that it keeps growing and growing, until eventually it's taking up so much space and consuming so many resources that the surrounding tissues can't function. The tumor doesn't have to do anything better than the other tissues in order to crowd them out; it just does it faster. Stop the uncontrolled growth, and it's something you can live with.

Stopping the uncontrolled growth of capital means more opportunities for multiple businesses--big and small--operating in the same sector, since it doesn't make sense for any one company to gobble up too much of the market share. That, in turn, means more choices for customers--and workers, since they can take their skills to another employer doing similar things. It means less waste, as there's no longer an economic upside to spewing cheap goods out of a fire-hose before you even know whether anyone wants to buy them. That could mean slower, more thoughtful use of resources in the first place, but at minimum, it's going to mean not manufacturing products only to immediately throw them away.
