You've got the touch
Danny’s mostly silent now: the fight is taking all his concentration. It’s good, honestly- he finds this part of superheroing very relaxing. It’s what he was, quite literally, born to do, after all.
Best not to think about that last bit too hard, honestly.
Instead, Danny is a whirl of fists, feet and golden energy, lashing out with his attacks to drive the ninja away from the Starbucks and keep them focused on him as much as they can.
"Are these your snake guys?" He asks the woman over his shoulder. ‘Because they’re not mine."
There isn’t much work for Eve and Stone to do in the end, really. The most drastic thing Eve ends up doing, besides incapacitating as many ninjas as she needs to, is shooting one in the wrist when he comes too close to Stone with a sword. Like hell is she going to let one of the Librarians get stabbed when she’s on the job.
When Danny asks if this is the serpent society she had been mentioning previously, states that they are not his, she only stares at him with dumbfounded eyes. She and Stone answer simultaneously. Albeit, she is louder - her confusion more…annunciated. ”No(!)”
"So none of us knows who those people were?” Cassandra asks as she exits the coffee shop alongside Jones.
"That was a hell of a fight," says Jones, seeming like the only one not affected by the puzzling situation. "You know they’ve offered you all cards with like, 20 dollars on them for that?" He takes this opportunity to flash the handful of them. "I figured I’d keep them, though. For the best. None of you seem like coffee-drinkers anyway."
But Cassandra snatches the cards away from the young thief. ”Hey!” he protests. Shoving her chin in the air in adamance, though, she simply leaves him with a disapproving look and hands out the cards to everyone there. At Danny, she stops. ”Cassandra Cillian.” She smiles. ”Thanks for the help.”
Only now does Eve let her shoulders slump. And she sighs, finally relenting to trust this…strange man. ”Colonel Eve Baird,” she says, extending a hand. ”With the New York Metropolitan Library.”
Meanwhile, Jones, his mood drastically soured, asks Cassandra, “Can I at least have mine?”
With a smile, she returns a single Starbucks card to him.
"You really don’t know who those guys were?" asks Stone.
"Not really." Danny says, declining the Starbucks card (he's a billionaire, he'd much rather someone else have it) and taking Colonel Baird's hand.
"Iron Fist." He says, smiling his best superhero smile. "With the Heroes for Hire. Pleasure to meet you and your associates. It's, er, good to know that the books are well guarded."
His hand, when Eve touches them, is just a little warmer than usual. It's not unpleasant, but it is noticeable.
