As for Ash!

He's a smaller than average Gengar in general- but his growth cycle is based on his evolution!

When he evolves, he starts on the smaller spectrum and grows into his standard size over the years! Gengar is a lot longer because it's his final evolution.

His actual Gengar is an XL! So Ash is ittty bitty in comparison when he's still growing into his actual size XD
