Sterek idea: Stiles magic actually revolving around strings, like with his murder board, and that one scene with Lydia where she plucks the string. But he doesnât know, itâs just something he learned from his mother.
He keeps string in his pockets and tied around his fingers. He ties string bracelets around the wrists of the people he loves as protection.
One night when Derek come over to ask for research sometime during season 2/3. Stiles just looks at Derek and sees how mentally, emotionally and physically drained he is. So without thinking he unties the red string from his pinky and wraps it around Derekâs pinky. Maybe also presses a kiss on the knuckle.
Derek is so confused about what just happened but he doesnât want to untie the string from his pinky. He also doesnât know why he suddenly wants to hunt down a deer and give it to stiles but heâs going to ignore that.
(Scott who sees the string around Derekâs pinky proceeds the wear as many of the string bracelets that stiles made him over the yearsâŠbecause heâll be fucking damned if Derek is the only one wearing stiles strings. This becomes a status among the betas with how many strings and how colourful the strings are. Derek is only one to have a red string. The betas buy stiles red strings to get him to complete their collection but he never does. He growls at Erica when she tries to steal his string)
And then Stiles gets kidnapped and none of the werewolves can pick up a scent, itâs like he vanished from thin air. Derek is losing his mind when he feels a tug on his pinky, and he swears he can see a red string floating from finger into the distance. He follows the string and finds Stiles. The string falls of his finger when he rescue a stiles but he ends up picking it up and puts it his wallet.
When they get married Derek ties the string around his wedding band. And Derek always make sure to buy stiles as much string as he wants.
When Lex took Clark's DNA to make a clone, none of his scientists could make it work.
Failure after failure after failure, until finally one of them went to an old lab they used to work at. It had been falling into ruin, mostly empty due to layoffs. The government agency that had been in charge of it had been long disbanded w/ the meta protections that had been signed into law.
So it was rather easy to get in; no one had bothered to cancel this scientists credentials.
There was a specimen, permanently asleep thanks to layers upon layers of security; the first metahumans ever recorded.
Phantom, Plasmius, and Phantasm.
They took Phantom's DNA, as he looked most like Superman, and snuck it back to Lex's labs, and it worked perfectly.
And thus, Conner was born/made.
Everyone used the altered report that the group of scientists made to say he was Superman's clone.
Until, after the dust has settled and Conner died and came back, he has another DNA test run.
His other donor is not Superman at all.
His other donor's information was under layer upon layer of high tech security, and breaking through them resulted in the American Government making baseless threats against the Justice League.
But with Oracle, Cyborg, and Red Robin's help, he found out who it was.
His real donor/father was deep underground, trapped in a lab, and unable to escape.
He leaks the information to the press, and suddenly everyone knows about the first metahumans and what happened to them. What was still happening to them. How most of the worlds insane advances in technology and medicine was due to human experimentation on them.
Now the American Government is trying to calm down the public, and claiming they had no idea what was going on.
Danny wakes up, disoriented, slumped in the arms of an extremely worried teenager that keeps calling him "dad".
His response, while waking up and confused?
"Alright, don't mind kids anyways. Ellie'll be thrilled."
He really does not expect the teen to burst into tears.
For the purpose of the AU, I was imagining Danny as in his mid thirties before he was tricked by the GIW and trapped.
Can you even imagine how shocked every other hero on the team would be? They've just pulled this guy out of storage. He has no idea what's going on. And he just goea, an you sure. makes sense!
The amount of looks Superman would get after that. Like Phantom never even questioned it! Phantom was frozen decades ago!
I bet other hero kids come up to him calling him Dad when pissed at their mentor. And Phantom just rolls his eyes.
"Kids, you have a new sibling for a few days!"
Ellie is beyond thrilled! She has a whole sibling now! She can teach him so much! Connor has never been so coddled and loved. And Danny and Ellie aim to make sure he feels loved every day!
Plus who big sister is also a clone. Ellie takes him off for talks about finding himself. How to feel like an individual. How to have hobbies outside of hero work.
And when Connor finally asks him an important question and gets the best response? so many fears.
Connor: Why aren't you angry?
Danny: Kiddo I am. But not at you. You didn't ask to be made. Why would I be angry at you?
Cw: Past Human Experimentation, mentions of said human experimention Mentions of Neglect and incidental emotional abuse, Fanon Superman treatment of Superboy (past)
Our Halfas are technically at this point several hundred years frozen. The Scientist who took Phantom's DNA was part of a tiny government team that goes in once a year to maintain the facility and keep the three subjects contained.
PH11 Plasmius: 58 Looks early forties still
PH13 Phantom: 34 Looks early-mid twenties
PH12 Phantasm: 18 Looks in her mid-late teens
I think it makes everything more fun if there's no record of names for them, and they are only referred to by Subject Designation. and by Fun I mean Ow.
-------------------------------
It had taken months to force the governments hands on the issue. They had been adamant there was no cover up, there was no underground bunker lab, and they had no idea about the documents that had been released. Attempts to save face and ease public concerns.
Finally, there was a break through and the hackers of the League had located the site. Connor hadn't expected it to be in the middle of nowhere America under a cornfield. In hindsight, maybe he should have.
He, along with his friends, busted down the doors and searched the place. Red Robin had mobilized them the instant he had a location, and the teens were on sight before the adult heroes had even made it to a vehicle.
Kon was reminded once more of the many reasons they all would willingly join Evil!Tim in those shitty timelines.
It was Impulse who found the room first, his horrified voice pinging over comms. "I found them. Third floor down, second hallway, room thirty-nine Sierra Romeo."
"This place as floors?" Beast Boy asked with a whine to his voice. "Why are evil government conspiracies like this?"
"Ugh, try not to read anything. We need at least some of us on the team of don't blow this place to hell." Their fearless co-leader chimed in, clearly already on team explosions. Unsurprising considering all the Robins and Bats were like that.
SR apparently stood for Stasis Room. There were thirteen cryopods against the wall, with only the middle three currently active. They were numbered oddly, with PH13 at the center and slightly forward of the rest. The six on its left and right counted down from there, with odds to the pods left and evens to the right.
"Thank god, they have underwear on." Wonder Girl huffed as everyone politely ignored the varying levels of flustered each of them experienced seeing the frozen metas. The two men were wearing briefs, and the woman had on something similar to the cute little boxer briefs Cassie sometimes wore to bed when they had been dating. The strip of white across the woman's chest irritated him. None of them wore a mask typically used in stasis or any pod not containing a breathable atmosphere.
Why were the evil scientists always so gross about things? It didn't even go all the way around her torso, for fuck's sake! Shaking it off, he stepped closer to the pods. His team milling around the room looking for information and giving him a little privacy.
PH13 held a man suspended in a vividly glowing green slush. Tan skin held a colored tint of purple (blue?) and was covered in various scars that they were familiar with, both on themselves and seen on other people freed from mad scientists and experimentation. His long hair was a pure white and floated freely. It was seeing his eyes open, glowing a glacial blue, that told them why Bart was so pale at the computers. Despite this, he made no indication he knew they were there. Or any movement at all.
"He's semiconscious." Red Robin growled, taking over the control panel. Kon wanted to shatter the pod into dust, kind of glad the people responsible weren't there. "It looks like they've been drawing on his cryokinesis to keep the stasis active so long."
"What?" Several of their team asked in varying levels of disbelief and anger.
"Is it hurting him?" Red Robin looked up and they locked eyes. At least as well as he could with the domino in place.
"No. It doesn't look like there's any response or activity beyond the activated power and energy drain. It's closed circuit, though, the only thing powering this room is... him."
He could feel the anger bristling through the room and agreed with it. "What about the other two?"
"Fully suspended, at least, I think so. There aren't any vital signs, but one of the metrics shows a steady hum of activity. I'm working on activating the release protocol now." Kon nodded as he looked over the other two active pods.
PH11 held an older man, his age was hard to place given his much less human appearance compared to PH13. Wasn't that a crazy thought, that he shared his experiment number with his donor? Was it on purpose? He shook the thought for now and went back to observing and speculating on the others. PH11's skin was a deep purple color. His black hair had a white streak through it, the same color as PH13's was. He had similar scars to Kon's donor, slightly pointed ears and a slimmer build. He was obviously older than the other two. Maybe this was his grandfather?
PH12 was much younger than the other two, closer to his own physical age, most likely. Her hair was white like PH13's but her tan skin had a slightly darker purple tint than his did. There were fewer battle scars on her skin and more signs of needles and scalpels than her male companions. Both she and PH13 had scaring around their necks where a collar of some kind could have sat.
The capital "i" incision that started just below the hollow of each of their throats and stopped above their bellybutton spoke uncomfortable volumes about what these three had been through. The worst part was that that specific wound still sported meticulously neat stitching.
Kon had gone through a lot of testing at Cadmus, but they'd never cut into him like that.
"It, looks like they didn't get to heal before being shoved into these things." Impulse said in a hushed tone. He glanced at Kon and back to the pods, vibrating in place, just as agitated as Kon felt.
"Yeah..."
"What are you children doing here?" The three of them whirled around to face the adults in the doorway. Red Robin continued tapping away at the computer, fully trusting his team to keep the adults from bothering him.
Superman stepped into the room first, frowning at the teens who stood between them and access to both the pods and control panel. Kon widened his stance some.
"I- We're here to get them out." Kon said, relying on the familiar buzz of Impulse's electricity beside him, Wonder Girl's warmth, Beast Boy's excitement that felt like the thrill just before the drop on a roller coaster, and Raven's calm seriousness that tasted like autumn air just before a cloud break.
Cassie and Bart had always been something he was aware of, even Robin admitted he felt it. The rest was new. A vast expanse of sensation that he hadn't been aware of prior to his death and eventual resurrection.
Not for the first time, he wondered if dying in that battle had unlocked something in him.
The people behind them could give him answers, and he sure as hell wasn't going to let Super- the Justice League hide them away first. Wonder Woman, Batman, The Flash, and Martian Manhunter were soon on either side of the Man of Steel.
"Impulse, the floor below us has bunks. Bring the-" RR barely finished speaking before Impulse was back with an armload of blankets and laying them out with Raven's help near the pods.
"Are you? You can't just shut down the stasis, we don't know who they are or how they could react." Superman said sharply, a low growl to his words that set the hair on the back of his neck prickling.
"Red Robin, stand down, we need to assess the technology holding them and gather more intel."
"Sorry, Batman, but they've been locked up long enough, and I think Superboy's old man deserves a break." Before anyone else could speak, the lights around the Stasis Pods went out. With a hiss, mist seeped out of the middle pod as it drained, chilling the air. Kon flinched when Superman made to move, snapping himself into action and reaching the pod just as the door slid open.
The man inside stumbled out, all but collapsing against Kon who gasped the moment contact was made. He was unsurprisingly ice-cold to the touch but warming up quickly.
"Dad Dad, hey, can you hear me?" He asked. The words rolling off his tongue easier than anything he'd ever said before. RR had said he was partially conscious, did that mean-? He laid the man onto the blankets as his eyes went from icy blue to the same green as the slush in the pods. Bright and swirling around unfocused pupils so dark they looked like black holes swallowing the surrounding color.
"Wha-?"
===
Danny drifted through the icy tundra, a drift and unsure where or when he was, how long he'd been there. His thoughts were sluggish and disjointed, but he wasn't sure he minded. If he did, he couldn't remember. Something about pain? He hadn't felt anything but cold for so long. His core was made of the stuff of Galaxies, so the near absolute zero wasn't terrible, but he used to know the warmth of thousands of stars. Didn't he?
The frozen landscape didn't have stars, or anything besides blinding frozen white. So he drifted slowly, aimless.
At least he was until he felt something click into place, something falling away, and then he was untethered from the tundra below his feet.
Danny fled. Up, up, up. If he could just break the cloud cover, the stars would be waiting.
"Dad." Who was? "Dad, can you hear me?" That wasn't Elle, her voice was softer, playful. This was worried and deeper, a son? Did he have a son? "Dad please-" The voice cut off abruptly and Danny burst through the cloud cover to find himself among the universe. The cosmos crying out there was danger, and Danny would always answer when family cried out.
The dim lighting of the room greeted him, along with the dirty white ceiling of the research lab. The moment his eyes snapped into focus, Danny was moving. The scientists hadn't administered the paralytic, and that was their first mistake. Their second was trying to contain one of his children without leaving him in stasis or locked down.
He was moving before he could process the plural of it, his core recognizing Mine-Family-Son-Danger-Defend. If he paused to think, he would lose the chance to get them to freedom. Hesitation had cost Vlad the last time, Bambi-legged from the then experimental paralytic they had eventually refined, he'd stumbled. Never again.
He grabbed the wrist of the one who'd put a hand on his son's shoulder and twisted it, rolling to his knees and flipping the man to the ground. Danny hadn't time to puzzle out the odd blur of colors around him, moving as two others came at him.
"Don't." He snarled, blocking a punch thrown by a large blob of shadow, throwing ice to the side and catching the blur of red in place. "Touch. My." He dodged a glowing golden rope and hissed, catching it in his hand and yanking the person off their feet and into an empty computer desk behind him. "Son!"
He'd corralled the smaller beings behind him, away from the older threats in the room. Now he stood, defensive and staring down the shadow and green man beside him. He needed to get them out. Vlad and Elle were still in the pods that were thawing without his power to sustain them. They wouldn't be out in time, he needed-

Danny chirped softly, relieved to hear one in return. He reached back and rested his hand between the boy's shoulder blades. His child went boneless against him. His instinct to comfort warred with needing to get them Out.
"We mean you no harm." The green one stepped closer, while the Shadow hissed a warning of 'Kal!' and held an arm to the dangerous ones chest. "Forgive us for causing alarm, but we are here to help."
"Forgive me if I don't believe you. Just because you lot have a grasp on the color spectrum doesn't mean you aren't enemies." He growled in return, and the man stopped advancing. He felt a press on his mind and snarled, shoving back and making him stumble away. "Don't."
He was aware of the children at his back catching Vlad and Elle as they fell from their containment units. The faint press of them against his awareness meant they were alive, but not yet awake.
"What do we call you?" The Shadow Being asked, caution in his tone. Danny could feel a soft hum of caution-respect off of them, as well as the tie of Family-Protect-Worry between them and the young one in red and black beside his own. Keeping attention on the brightly colored red and blue scowling one, he took stock of the room.
There were no alarms or flashing lights, no shouting commands or guns whining as they powered up. The children were tense, anxious, but not afraid. Not like his son had been.
Son.
That was a surprise. More so even than when the shift in his and Elle's relationship happened. When she'd become unstable again and reverted to her Core age of seven. He felt kind of like Elle, less ghost, more alive, but like her all the same. Another clone.
Stable-well-safe-safe-keep
He had Fraid bonds but no adult familial ones. A brother, but the bond was weak. Who had been caring for him? The zipping child had a Guardian-Child bond with the Red one he had frozen, the Blonde girl with the one he had thrown.
"Phantom." He said finally, his energy waning now that the immediate danger had passed. "You are, their guardians?" He asked, letting the ice melt from the Red Fast one. The Shadow grunted and nodded his head.
"I am Batman. My colleges are Wonder Woman, Flash, Superman, and Martian Manhunter." Batman offered in a clear show of goodwill. Danny nodded and looked at his Son, faintly alarmed he was crying, and brushed some of the tears away with his thumb.
"Is he stable?" He asked, narrowing his eyes at Batman, carding his fingers through his son's hair, determined to know before proper darkness took hold of him.
"Yes." They seemed surprised when the tension melted out of him, and he turned, wrapping his arms around the boy.
"Did they name you?" He asked softly. He could feel the confusion and hope so very clearly. It made him angry to think anything he was doing didn't feel normal for him.
"K-Kon-El. er, Connor." He had corrected himself, and alarm bells rang in Danny's mind. A Kryptonian name? But they were all... Why would he correct-? His eyes flashed brightly, snapping to Superman's own. He bared his fangs with a low growl and tucked Connor's head under his chin.
"Your sister will be thrilled to meet you." He hummed against soft, dark hair. Connor's breath hitched, "She's...just like... you." He added, shifting his weight and going to his knees.
The last thing he was aware of was the parent-child bond as it clicked into place in his core. Surprise, delight, and alarm lighting it up just as he dropped into blissful darkness.
---------------------
Connor hadn't left the medical room on the watchtower since the three captive metas had been brought up. His friends were in and out, with RR stopping by the most often. He was exhausted but couldn't sleep, anxious for Phantom, his Dad, to wake up again. Something warm and right had settled in his chest.
Phantom had accepted him. Hadn't even been fully awake before he'd tried to protect him from the freaking Justice League. Then he had passed out in a flash of light was a black haired man and had a heartbeat again. RR and everyone were going through the gathered data as well as they could.
Black Canary was enforcing breaks for their mental health. Especially when Cyborg recovered a file on PH12 dated the week before the whole thing was shut down. Reproductive trials. It was all so sickeningly clinical and detached. They hadn't even considered them lab animals. Thankfully, none of the planned trials had taken place as the sector was cut and shut down.
The other two had woken briefly. Long enough to learn their names and experience that same bizarre warmth. His sister's name was Phantasm. She had black hair and blue eyes like his. She'd squealed and grabbed his face when she saw him.
Phantasm had also asked if he was stable. When he asked what that meant, she just smiled and said ominously, "I melted a lot after I was made. Stable now, but, Dad still fusses all the time." and then she was asleep again.
Plasmius was awake longer. Long enough to explain that he and Phantasm weren't the same as Phantom. So long in the cold meant they needed time to readjust their Cores to their proper state. Sleep would allow that. His hair was silver and eyes a gray blue, like Tim's were. He also explained they were Half living, half dead, and once free of their prison had been able to revert to their natural living state to heal.
He was the first to ask the date, staring off into the middle distance once told. "That's quite a long time." Connor had agreed and sat in the silence for a while.
"Why don't, Phantom and Phantasm had this... connection with me." He said hesitantly, glancing at the elder meta while he reclined in the hospital bed, picking at his fruits. "Do, well, I mean why don't..."
"I'm not surprised you wouldn't have a bond with me. Such things are new to me, and while your father and sister know more, even they have little information."
"Why?"
For several agonizing minutes, nothing was said. A hundred worse case scenarios flashed through his mind, but what Plasmius actually said surprised him.
"It has nothing to do with you, my boy. My relationship with Phantom is complicated, and I hurt Phantasm, so much, so I don't believe I deserve their forgiveness in hindsight. They still offered it when I had reached my lowest. I had only just begun making amends when we were captured."
"Oh."
"You can't be more than three or four. What is your connection? If you don't mind my asking."
"Phantom's my dad... uh, well, one of them. I was cloned, and we thought it was Superman, but the paperwork was falsified. Apparently they were trying to clone him, but it wasn't working, so... they used Phantom's and pretended it was Supes' far as we could find."
"Hmm. And you're stable? No sudden and intense bouts of pain, aches, and or melting?"
Connor laughed at that and shook his head. "No. This is the third time in my whole life I've been asked that."
"Yes, well, in my experience those are symptoms of an unstable clone and are often precursor to fatalities. Including, in your sisters rare case, age regression."
"Wow." They settled into silence until Plasmius too went back to sleep.
Now he was sat beside Phantom's bed and waiting for him to wake up again. Which could take days or weeks for all they knew. Luck was on his side at least because it was only two days of waiting before the man stirred in his bed.
Before he could try to speak, Connor got him a cup of water and helped him sit up a little. "Hey dad..." He whispered, still in awe of it being real and true.
"Hey Stardust." Phantom's voice was deep and rough from disuse and sleep, and it was the best thing Connor had ever heard. If he was crying again when he climbed up next to him and curled into the hug, well, Phantom didn't say anything.
Safe-Loved-Family-Never Let Go-Safe
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Batman is maybe a little seduced by Phantom's display of Paternal Defensiveness. To go from what the JLA thought was a deep freeze to holding his own? Also herding all the teens behind him? CoughHotAFAlsoCough
Superman is not impressed. In fact, he thinks they should be a little more concerned about this. He also thinks he doesn't deserve all these side eyeing he's getting for being properly cautious of not just these metas but of Superboy. ffs he was vindicated that time that Luthor took control of him and almost killed the Titans. Batman, he Broke Robin's Arm!
Batman who trusts Tim's judgment, and we're here to drag Clark for being shitty, so we get that good dad Bruce Wayne content: If we were justifying treating children like villains because of brainwashing, I think we should discuss your criminal record as well Kal-El.
Wonder Woman can't wait to spar with this Phantom after that half feral instinct driven fight.
Yes! Protective Dad Danny! Also, Bruce falling for the hot protective DILF? Very on brand. Tim is gonna notice and tease him relentlessly.
When Danny finally woke properly he was relieved to find his family within his sight. His son (holy shit he had a son!) Was napping in a comfortable looking chair next to his bed. Danny smiled softly and slowly got up. Connor should have a blanket. Silly boy.
He quietly stood and placed his own via let over his son. Slowly tracing his face with his fingers. He had a new miracle. Danny couldn't help but press a soft kids to Connor's hair. Looking around showed he was in a medical bay. A very very advanced one. How long has they been frozen.
It looked like they would have a lot to learn before they could reintegrate into society. Oh well. They were free at least. The he felt the same presence as the man who talked him down earlier. Batman? That sounded right. Batman walks in and saw him standing. The man nodded in greeting, before gesturing to the hall.
Danny ran a last sweep of his fingers through his son's hair before going along with him. Once in the corridor he looked around. The whole place was as advanced as the medical bay.
Danny: Its been a long time hasn't it?
Batman: We don't know exactly how long. The files are... Incomplete. But yes. The world has changed a lot, especially in the last 20 years.
Danny nodded, he knew how quickly things could change. Especially with a driving force behind them.
Danny: So. Super powers and specialising are just a thing now? When I was a hero it was just me.
Batman: You were a hero?
Danny: Mad scientist parents built a portal to another dimension. I accidentally powered it on and gained powers. Then trouble makers from the other dimension came through. I felt.. Responsible.
Batman: How old were you?
Danny: 14. So, we will need a lot of help to reintegrate. What can we do to help in the meantime? I don't like owing people favours.
Batman nodded. He could understand that. He would also feel discomfort in such a situation.
Batman: Information on your health needs, and abilities. It will help us with Connor as well.
Danny: I have a son! I almost can't believe it! He is so sweet! I can't wait to get to know him better!
Batman: Good. Superman was... Less than receptive when we thought he was his clone. I am glad he will have a parent.
Danny: Ah. No wonder he cried when I called him my son then. I would apologise for attacking your co worker. But frankly he scared my son, after I was woken from stasis in the lab I was tortured for decades. And I won't apologise for protecting children.
Batman smirked hearing that. It was a most impressive sight to witness. Clark needed to get smacked around sometimes. It was for his own good.
Batman: I wouldn't expect you to. I know Wonder Woman was impressed. She would like to spar with you. Once you are well.
Danny: No. I suppose you wouldn't. The boy in red. He has a child-guardian bond with you. You would know about protecting your child.
Batman: You can sense bonds between family members?
Danny: Yes. Our kind are somewhat empathic. Family and friends bond into a fraid. We can typically sense similar bonds. So we can avoid insulting allies and so on.
Batman: How long will it take you to form a bond with Connor?
Danny: That was instant. His bond with his sister was too. I can feel them both now. They are sleeping peacefully. Connor does seem very tired. But I imagine the stress of the recent days has been high?
Danny was looking around and froze as he saw the stars. Batman watched as Phantom's eyes dilated seeing the stars. He was reminded of a car about to pounce.
Danny: We're in space? I've not seen the stars in so long. Just as beautiful as I remember.
Batman felt entranced by the view of Phantom. He looked ethereal against the stars. Ah, his other form seemed to be coming to the fore. Perhaps that was why. He cleared his throat and tore his eyes away. The poor man had been frozen for decades. Now was not the time.
Batman: Yes. It was deemed the safest place to let you heal. The American government was not forth coming with details on your existence. Given they have been knowingly breaking their own laws for the past 15 years I am not surprised.
Danny: Huh. So, humans with powers have equal to human rights now? Impressive. We were deemed to have less legal rights than a pet dog would have enjoyed.
Batman: Yes. Believe me we plan to shame the government. We might even manage to get you some form of recompense.
Danny snorted disbelievingly at that idea.
Danny: I'll believe that when I see it. If Plasmius can regain his previous identity we may have funds. He was a billionaire after all.
Bruce being Good DadTM sexual is the best idea I have ever heard. Danny helps Jason (AKA the batfams resident Reverent-who-does-not-know-he's-a-Reverent) with his pit madness and angsty boi-ness. I have the image of BestDad!Danny telling Jason that it's okay to grieve himself and Jason just breaking down and getting comfort in my head and it has me at gunpoint. Bruce sees Danny comforting and helping his kids and is just instantly head over heels. This is all made 1000% better with this being a Jack Fenton Sized giant brick shithouse of a man who can give the best fucking hugs and will kick someone's ass while holding one of his kids under each of his arms.
I so desperately want a long fic of this where Danny ends up an honorary dad to ALL the teen heroes, Conner gets domestic shit like waking up to his dad in an apron making him breakfast or being comforted after a nightmare, and the batkids deciding they need this man as their dad right the fuck now and start trying to set Danny and Bruce up with Danny x Bruce as endgame. Someone PLEASE.
Ellie and Kon approve. Like, Bruce is a good man. He is shit at communicating. And fucks up at times because of that. And his, you know, issues. But he is good.
So, they conspire with the bat kids. This boils down to a LOT of "Hey can we hang out with X. I know Jay misses you!" Being thrown at Danny.
And a LOT of "Hey B, can we have the Phantom's over?" Along with general shenanigans.
It is gonna take a long ass time. Like this would be the slowest of burns. Because Danny has all that fresh trauma to unpack. And Bruce has never touched his trauma once, in his life.
And in the mean time the kids + Alfred have basically blended their families already. Bruce and Danny are already co parenting each others kids. The entire Justice League is watching with popcorn. Cause they can't be this blind? Oh. No they can ok.
And ya know. Danny isn't all that interested in being a vigilante anymore. He will absolutely help with training. And with big threats. But mostly he wants to stay home and look after the kids. So him and Alfred get on like a house on fire. Alfred VERY much approves of Danny. And the fact that Danny WILL force an injured person to sit and stay and rest if he has to.
So basically, a story that starts as 100% angst. And slowly develops into 100K fluff!
Bruce felt like he'd made a mistake somehow. Introducing Phantom and his kids to Alfred made sense. Right up to the point Alfred and Danny started to work together. The first time Alfred called him over to look after one of his kids while they were injured? Well it made sense. He was fully willing and able to make them stay in bed while injured.
But then he broke his leg. And, Alfred. The traitor, called in Danny. And his very attractive friend was now pinning him with the same glare. And well. He was only human ok? He did feel guilty a bit. Taking advantage of the situation to get Danny to manhandle him. But. A man can dream right? Danny was more than willing to pin him to the sofa.
And Bruce was definitely not taking the chance to provoke that. Nope. No way. The look he got from Alfred said he'd noticed. Which meant he would tell the kids. Fuck. He was done for. But, Danny was just so caring and protective. And it was really quite compelling to have the aimed at himself.
He needed to get a grip. But He really was enjoying it. Danny's preferred method of bat sitting was to aggressively cuddle them into submission. And he gave great hugs. Even Damian agreed, which counted far more than his own biased findings. According to his kids anyway.
Headcanon that when Tim first started as Robin, he promised himself that he wouldn't die like Jason, and then proceeded to live out of sheer force of will.
He gets shot in the heart or blown to smithereens, and fifteen seconds later, he is picking himself off the floor like it's another Tuesday. Won't even acknowledge it happened. The type of guy to slap a bandaid on a stab wound and walked away with a flat line on a monitor.
He lives out of spite, solely so he can look at his siblings and go "Well, at least I didn't die" whenever one of them annoys him. With the amount of improbable stunts Tim pulls, Damian doesn't even think he is human anymore.
(Bruce loves his son, but sometimes he adds holy water into the coffee maker just so he can be sure Tim did not join the demon realm. Jason is less subtle about pulling Tim into churches to see if he will burn and melt. He does it a grand total of 7 times before Dick hosts an intervention about how loving your brother means you have to stop trying to exorcise him.)
It turns out that the Statue of Liberty is actually a Weeping Angel, itâs just so big that itâs always been visible to someone. Now, with the smoke filling New York, itâs gone unobserved for the first time.
Oh but that last 00q gifset gives me such fic ideas though. Specifically one where James comes back from a sensitive, minimal contact with HQ mission to find Q in the wind.
And when James finally catches up to him at a crowded tube stop, and pulls him into a staff corridor, all Q can offer him is his word that he has been framed. This against the mountain of cold, hard evidence James himself saw establishing that he was working with Silva. That he helped him escape. Helped him hunt M down.
And for the first time since they've met, Q looks scared - scared of James.
"They are going to kill me if you bring me in," Q says, meeting his eye head on, "they have already tried."
(And what choice does James have, despite Qs protests that he doesn't want anyone's blood on his hands, and despite the part of himself that says he is a fool to go against evidence in front of his eyes yet again, to go on the run with Q so they clear his name - together.)
Apparently my director went to see a production of West Side Story a few years ago, and the guy playing Chino forgot his gun before coming out for his final scene. Once it got to the big scene where he is supposed to shoot Tony, he screeched âPoison Bootsâ and kicked the actor playing Tony until he went down. The girl playing Maria then had to jerk the shoe off of Chinoâs foot, and had to do the gunshot scene asking âHow many kicks Chino? How many kicks, and one kick left for meâ.Â
There should be a blog dedicated to theatrical urban legends. Like that opening weekend of Dracula where Dracula (still hungover) vomited all over the audience during the first stage direction that everyone has a friend of a friend that worked on the show and was there.
or the one where the bridge never came out for Javertâs suicide and so he just pretended to stab himself and then lay there until the lights went out
best story i heard was when a friend of mine saw a show where juliet forgot to bring the dagger out on stage so she just ripped the squib out of her chest and blood squirted everywhere
During a passion play a friend of my brother was supposedly in, one of the roman soldiers who was supposed to stab jesus on the cross and accidentally grabbed the wrong spear- he was supposed to grab one with a fake tip, but instead he grabbed one with an actual metal tip and, well
Jesus screamed âJESUS CHRIST YOU STABBED MEâ.
Since that Jesus had to be taken down due to a bad case of stab-itis, the backup Jesus came in, but he weighed significantly less than the original Jesus- which would have been fine, except that at the end the cross was supposed to ascend upwards with Jesus on it, and the weights hadnât been adjusted.
So Jesus, instead, ROCKETED UP into heaven (or, just, above the stage).
I was in Peter Pan once and one night at a performance, the adhesive holding our Hookâs mustache on was wearing off. It was near the end with a big fight scene and when he got attacked, he let his mustache fall and went âYOU RIPPED MY MUSTACHE OFF!â in a scandalized tone and it added a new note of hilarity to the whole scene (which was supposed to be funny anyway)
My junior year we were doing Romeo and Juliet and after Juliet poisons herself it was supposed to go dark and sheâd get off the stage. well the light crew accidentally turned them back on and Juliet who was sitting up slammed back down on the wooden bed with a loud bang. To which my theater teacher says into the com âzombie Julietâ and everyone who heard that had to keep as quiet as possible while our eyes were filling with tears.
i attended my countyâs performing arts high school majoring in vocal studies, (mostly geared towards musical theater and opera styles) and once a year we got a field trip to new york (we were in jersey, so itâs not exactly far). we would do one touristy thing, an actorâs workshop with friends of our teachers working in various performing industries in nyc, and then see a show.Â
my first year doing this, our industry contacts were 1 actor, 1 casting director, and 1 producer to get different aspects of the business, and they all gave us amazing advice and told fantastic stories. the actor in question was Zazu on Broadwayâs The Lion King for several years, and told the best story by far.
in The Lion King, there are only two pieces of pre-recorded noise in the whole show. one, when Pumbaa does a MASSIVE fart while fighting the hyenas, and the other being Mufasa saying REMEMBERRRRRR as Simba climbs Pride Rock. the actor told us while struggling not to laugh that, during one nightâs performance, someone forgot to flip the tape of these pre-recorded noises.
so, at the end of the show, the great climax where Simba finally accepts his place in the Circle of Life, the heavens parted and-
During a high school production of Beauty and the Beast, where I was assistant costumer and assistant prop master, our director decided that we needed to spice up Gastonâs introduction. You know: in the movie, when Lefou runs in trying to catch the duck/goose that Gaston has just shot out of the sky?
Originally, the actors were going to stroll on stage with our Lefou hauling in the really neat (and real!) taxidermied deer head that we had found in a local thrift store. Now, two days before opening night, our director wants Lefou to run in from off stage and catch a stuffed duck that Gaston has just shot. This, of course, requires two things to work properly as a scene: a gunshot noise, and a stuffed duck.
The gunshot noise, we had covered. Blue-collar, redneck school? Guns a plenty to record. The stuffed duck? Harder than you might have thought to obtain.
Three hunting stores, two taxidermists, and one Pet Supply Store âą, Iâd finally found a semi-realistic pheasant squeaky toy. What follows is an account of the ways this dog toy managed to be the nightmare prop of the six show run.
Opening Night: The stagehand, who was supposed to drop the bird from the ceiling catwalk, missed his cue and didnât drop the it. Lefouâs actor rolls with it and does an excellent job of looking around foolishly before getting cuffed upside the head by Gaston. The stagehand then drops the bird squarely on Gastonâs head. Cue laughter.
Saturday Matinee: Different stagehand throws the bird instead of dropping it and beans Lefou directly in the face with the prop. Lefou falls over. Cue laughter.
Saturday Night: Bird is missing during curtain call. Director hauls the deer head down from itâs place on the tavern wall and tells Gaston and Lefou to revert to the old blocking i.e. no gunshot, no bird, just walk in with trophy. During Gaston and Lefouâs conversation, gun shot sound goes off and a stagehand throws the bird onto the stageâŠfrom the wrong side of the stage. Lefou and Gaston stare at it in awkward silence for a solid thirty seconds before Lefou makes off-script, subtle joke about Gastonâs gun going off late instead of early. Cue adults in the audience laughing.
Sunday Matinee: Director begs the stagehands to get the cue right at least once. Gunshot and bird prop go off without a hitch. Lefou accidentally catches the prop when it falls from the catwalk. Heâs so startled that he caught it that Gaston runs right in to him. They drop both the gun and the bird props, and grab the wrong prop in their scramble. Gaston spends the rest of the scene gesturing dramatically with a stuffed pheasant, instead of a gun.
Sunday Night:Â Director is fed up with bird prop, decides that Lefou should just carry bird prop in after gunshot happens off stage. Lefou accidentally squeezes the prop during the intro conversation, startling both actors into silence with the squeaky toy noise - apparently, neither of them realized it was a dog toy.
Monday Elementary School Show: Lefou walks on stage with the bird. Accidentally drops the prop during conversation with Gaston. Gaston doesnât notice the dropped prop and steps on it. Cue depressingly sad squeaky toy noise. Cue ten years olds laughing.
I was in Twelfth Night during high school and we were lucky enough to have identical twin girls playing Viola and Sebastian. Due to the blocking in the first half of the play, their characters didnât appear on stage together but rather almost consecutively one after the other for a majority of the first act.
It was awesome because when people saw the play and didnât know the girls were identical twins, it literally looked like it was one actor doing multiple, uber fast costume changes.
One of our first performances was for our peers and it was a big school so lots of people didnât know the twins. This - for some reason - was also the performance they chose to record.
Listening to the confusion of the audience during the playback was fantastic and completely topped by the moment Viola walked off stage left just as Sebastian walked on stage right and someone right beside the camera goes âOH WHAT THE FUCKâ so loudly it drowned out everything else.
The best thing? That was the copy of the play that was made available for purchase by family and parents. Haha.
Oh my god. I went to one of the Spiderman shows where he flew out above the audience and then got stuck and had to awkwardly hang there for about 10 minutes, but these stories are brilliant.
okay so, my senior year of high school and Iâm part of the stage crew for Peter Pan. Thereâs a scene where Hook and Smee are searching for Peter and the Lost Boys. Now the theater department at my high school isnât very well funded (in the southern USA, football is king), so the sets we managed to make were pretty kickass for the money we had. We had a structure painted like a big tree stump for the entrance to the Lost Boysâ hideout. You could climb to the top of it, but also go inside it through a trap door that we kept locked up during most of the play.
Itâs like our third show and everything has been going surprisingly well. Hook and Smee climb to the top of the âtree trunkâ, supposedly looking for Peter and not knowing theyâre standing above his hiding spot the whole time.
Turns out someone didnât close the trapdoor properly, because the second Hook steps on it, he plunges through the thing. Heâs able to catch himself, but heâs got his ass and one leg dangling through this hole where itâs like a ten foot drop to the ground. All of us stage crew are literally two feet away from him offstage, just gaping at him because???? Y'all this fall looked BAD. Looked like my dude did the splits in mid air. The whiplash caused his fucking wig to come off. The audience is dead silent, all of us backstage are dead silent, the director is like already looking up how to treat a broken groin.
The kid who was playing Hook was like a fuckin sophomore and he KILLED it. He gave himself a second to catch his breath, never broke character, just looked up at his castmate and growled âSmee, you fool, help me up!â. He ended up playing off the wig thing as an embarrassing comedic bit for Hook, and the play went on. He was completely fine. It was the best thing Iâd ever seen.
There was an infamous performance of the opera Don Giovanni where in the last act Giovanni was suppose to be dragged into hell via trapdoor but the overweight actor got stuck, leading someone from the audience to shout: âHey everyone, Hellâs full!!âÂ
I was a costumer on a stage version of Titanic, and in the scene where the women and children are getting in the lifeboats, one of the men (who was supposed to be saying goodbye to his wife he knows he will never see again because his is about to die), realized his fake mustache was falling off and instead of playing it cool⊠he rips it off his face, and hands it to his wife with the line âSomething to remember me byââŠit was the funniest thing that I have ever seen in my 8 years in theatre, the entire cast lost their shit laughing at the most dramatic moment possible
I donât have anything to add other than I saw a recording of a community (I think) production of Into The Woods and the Milky White prop died too early and everyone stares dumbly at the fallen over cow.
I think Jack ran over and adlibed something about, âI know itâs hard but donât give up, Milky White!â while righting the prop.
My high school had a rogue director who seemed to choose obscure shows on purpose, and had us do a theatrical adaptation of one of the old Pink Panther movies, where I was incongruously and rather insensitively cast as the Chinese bodyguard, Cato (I am very female and very white).
Anyway, during one scene, I was supposed to be handed a ticking package that was very clearly a bomb sent by the villain. I would gingerly run offstage with the thing held at armâs length before there was the sound of an explosion and a large puff from our smoke machine. Well, one night the smoke machine malfunctioned before the package even got delivered and smoke started filling the stage. Inspector Clouseau, without missing a beat, started ranting about how I was always burning his dinner.
During a college production of Jesus Christ Superstar, the cross started to tilt during the crucifixion scene. All of us in the audience were holding our breath, willing it to stay in place, but to no avail. The cross, with Jesus firmly attached, keeled over Ÿ of the way through the scene. The actor (who wasnât hurt, thank goodness) continued on as if nothing had happened. Unfortunately, the next line was, âMy God, My God, why have you forsaken me?â Yeah, we all lost it.
I recall hearing once of a production of âRomeo & Julietâ where everything went off without a hitch, until the final line where the actor playing the Friar messed up and said âFor never was a story of more woe/ Than this of Romietââ and there was a pause as he realized what he had done (and, unfortunately, the audience had time to process it); but he decided he needed to finish nowâ âand her Julio.â
And the audience just lost it laughing right at the end of this Shakespearean tragedy.
Headcanon: Eliot can ballroom dance as well as any professional. Better, in some instances. And no one knows this until they have to work a con at a dance studio that's a front for trafficking. He has to compete, which adds another pseudo-celebrity persona to his identities.
Of course this naturally also results in him acquiring a ton more fangirls - and fanboys! - because a) hyper competent dancing is HAWT and b) he's going to be in a male ballroom dance competition outfit which... well, I'll leave y'all to try Googling that and picture Eliot in something like it. #AHEM
So poor Hardison is on full time social media/attempting to control the hype duty while also trying to do the digital stuff for the actual job AND making sure to needle/mock/jab at Eliot at every possible opportunity... until the team actually sees their hitter, their punchy grump-up artist, dancing in one of the competitions and. Well. It's basically a Scheherazade moment that nearly blows the con because hey, this grade of dance is supposed to be emotive, right, and they're all gawking so hard they nearly miss their marks.
The fact Eliot refuses to actually acknowledge how good he is, just growling and stomping off when someone tries to actually compliment him, only adds to the effect.
Nate meanwhile is in Actual Hell because let's set this theoretical episode in early to mid S5 as, of course, Sophie just LOVES the idea of "going dancing" and is thoroughly miffed that her newly sort-of s/o can barely do a basic waltz. Bonus points if she suggests, in either or both of their hearing, that Eliot could maybe teach Nate some moves to help.
Only later it turns out the only person who Elio has actually volunteered to teach some steps to is Parker, firstly because she's competent enough to actually follow along, and secondly because that way she can take Hardison dancing on one of their date nights, which of course leaves Alec melted into an absolute puddle because he's essentially just an enormous ball of squish in the shape of a boy.
And we fade out the episode as Parker and Hardison head for their night out while Sophie is trying to teach a purposefully-failing Nate some basic steps, seeing Eliot in the kitchen of the brew pub humming to himself and, secure in the moment of being entirely unobserved, execute an absolutely perfect reverse fleckerl with a bowl and whisk as his only partner.
So I'm watching Buzzfeed Unsolved (again) and I had a hilarious thought...what if Shane and Ryan were detectives assigned to the Cold Case archive in a police department and they just...accidently solve dozens of cold cases from decades ago through sheer stupidly, guesswork, and sarcasm. Shane would sarcastically say "the butler did it" and two days later they discover that the butler actually did it. Or Ryan would be like "It was a demon," and next minute it ACTUALLY WAS.
Prompt/Idea:Â When Clark Kent has been exposed to Pink Kryptonite and turns into a woman he thinks nothing of it. The effects should wear off soon, right? Except when it doesnât he seeks out Batmanâs help.
like youâre thinking, yeah itâs freaking weird, but itâs what I called you, itâs who you were, it was YOUR name, and now itâs not, now youâve got a wife who whispers a different name to you, so what the fuck do I do now?, do I have any claim on you at all anymore?,are you ANYTHING to me anymore?. (via littlehollyleaf)
Especially since that wasnât even his given name, or the name he went by any majority. He was Castiel, until Dean nicknamed him Cas. It was what Dean named who Cas became because of meeting Dean. And pretty much every human calls him Cas. Isnât it hilarious that he never says anything about the name, never complains or says âmy name is Castiel not Casâ. He embraces the name as his own and yet. And yet minus the meaning, minus the memory of who gave it or what it meant, objectively Cas thinks the name is odd. The fact that he keeps it and responds to it because Dean named him that warms my heart like you wouldnât believe.Â
There was a poem I found on tumblr a while back, god help me I donât remember the name of the writer.. I love the way they described Deanâs nickname for him. They said:
âthe way I took heaven from your name
cas tiel
and gave it to earth
in a cruel, selfish urge to own youâ
And I love that. Because itâs the âtielâ that means âof or like Godâ. So by calling him Cas, Dean is making him more human. And that just always got to me. I love it. (If anyone knows the author or the original post and can source it for me, please do; I hate not being able to give credit for such amazing work.)
This fucked me up. But I love it so much. I will now always wonder if that is something Dean, Cas or even Sam realize. Like, Sam and Dean know a few languages. If they thought about the meaning of Casâ full name, and then his shortened one, I think it would be Sam who has the linguistic holy shit moment.
all of dteam watching the sunset together and george w his glasses is so mesmerized while dream and sapnap look at him w adoraion/affection bc theyâre so happy he can finally see how pretty sunsets are in this essay i will
george describes the colors as best as he can and heâs rambling and made sapnap laugh from it, sapnap canât stop giggling bc george is stumbling on his words but his smile is so huge and the scene infront of dream just makes him tear up because he loves both of them so much TO CONTINUE THIS ESSAY I WILL
george stares at dream and sapnap for too long and they get flustered, asking whatâs wrong. george just laughs and points at their eyes, saying it looks different, but in a good way
This AU takes place in the world where they are all mcyters, but also all happen to be demigods.Â
They obviously havenât said anything about their parentage to their fans, but you can see aspects of it in how they play Minecraft, and how the manhunts go.
Dream, Sapnap and BadBoyHalo all went to Camp Half-Blood, and thatâs how they became friends.Â
Dream, Sapnap and BBH all meet George when he visits CHB one summer. He wasnât going to be a camper there, but he ended up being one of a few ambassadors from a camp in Europe.
George ends up wanting to stay in the US and moves into an apartment in the same city as Dream during the summer leading up to Dreamâs junior year of high school.
The real reason Dream hasnât done a face reveal on his channel is because he is worried about how his fans will reacted to the large scar that he has that runs from just under his left eye, down to his jaw line. He got the scar one year on the lava climbing wall at Camp. The rest of the Dream Team have told him that he looks badass and that his fans will agree, but Dream isnât sure.
Dream is 2 years younger than George
Dream and BBH are the same age
Sapnap is a year younger than George
Dream was the first one to start streaming on Twitch and then create a YouTube channel. They had played Minecraft together for a while, but Dream started speed running and getting more fame on his twitch. So, he started making videos and coming up with challenges for George to code, and then they would try to survive and defeat the Ender Dragon together.
George was 17 when he was chosen to be an ambassador from his camp in England. He was super nervous about going to CHB and being stuck there for the summer while all of his friends were still at his camp. He ended up meeting the rest of the Dream Team and they became fast friends.
Even thought CHB was in New York, George moved into an apartment near Dream, in Florida. George moved to the US when he was 20.
Dream(21) is a son of Apollo and one of the few males that Artemis tolerates. He is very skilled with a bow, but is all around amazing with almost any form of combat. He is a natural hunter and was once on a hunt with the Hunters of Artemis.
George(23) is a son of Hephaestus. While not as good at combat as Sapnap or Dream, he can definitely hold his own in a fight, since heâs been training with Dream, Sapnap and BBH for years. He is also a coder. George taught Dream how to do some basic coding. So, now they work together when they have to code for their vids, but George still does most of the work.
Sapnap(22) is a son of Ares. He is essentially the tank of the group. He is better than Dream when it comes to hand-to-hand and when using a sword, but only has some proficiency with a bow because Dream spent most of the summer teaching him how not to miss the target by a mile.
BadBoyHalo(21) is a son of Athena. He is known for coming up with plans on the spot and being pretty good in combat. BBH is skilled in almost all forms of combat.Â
*** Now that Iâve written this all out, Iâm actually considering writing it. IDK what the plot would actually be, but if you have an idea Iâd be more than happy to here it! ***
Kirk explains what trick-or-treating is to Spock. While Bones observes in amusement. Just Kirk explaining the little niche things about Earth customs to Spock.
