"What's your name?"
"Jacklyn, Sir; but I'm usually called 'Duck'. They say I waddle; I don't really, Sir, but I like 'Jackie' better than 'Jacklyn'."
"Good! 'Jackie' it shall be..."
Context:
- In the Greek dub, Duck is female and called "Jackie" with her real name being "Jacklyn" instead of Montague.
- Duck's og number in the RWS was 5741, a member of his class actually had, and you already know the real life locomotive rule!
"That's a good engine, I'll name you Percival!"
Context : In AEG, Percy's real name is Percival, and while everyone picks Avonside 0-4-0ST for a Percy basis, I went with a Peckett 0-4-0ST as the one I added into the image in real life is named Percy, what are the odds?
Also thanks to @tendedwinner748 for the idea of this au Percy!
Out of the way! Empty trucks coming through!
Context: ttte.fandom.com/wiki/Sodor_Tra…
8783 - which is a GER D56 class like Molly - makes a cameo appearance in the book Toby, Trucks and Trouble from The RWS.
Yeah, in this au Toby works for Sodor Tramways which is on his branchline (so yes, G.W. is on his branchline) with Molly, Flora, Henrietta, and Hannah!
Thomas is a fussy, cheeky little tank engine whom we meet here for the first time. She proves to be such a Really Useful Engine that she is given a Branch Line all to herself!
(Aka: I couldn't think of anything to do for Percy because everyone does Avonside 0-4-0ST, and besides that there's really only aeg Percy's real name being Percival. So any ideas on what to do with him, open to suggestions!)
And yeah, whenever I can't think of what to do, I'll just make her again!
"Ah'm an Important Engine noo; everybody kens it. They come in crowds tae see me flash by. The heaviest train disnae mak' a bit o' difference. Ah'm as regular as clockwork. They aw set their watches by me. Never late, aye on time—that's me!"
Context: The first physical model (and intended basis) of James built for the Reverend W. Awdry was based on the Glasgow and South Western Railway (G&SWR) 403 Class, but then he was drawn wrong and the rest is history.
So yes, he is scottish in this au, and do I even need to say that he's gay?
this is a transgender zone you either support trans rights or you die dude

"Is it true sir? What the diesels say?"
"What do they say?"
"They boast they've abolished steam sir."
"Yes Gordon, it is true..."
"What Sir? All my Doncaster brothers and sisters, drawn the same time as me?"
"All gone, except one..."
(Featuring female Scotsman (I guess Scotswoman) with a nonfucked up nose)
Context: 90% of locomotives in real life is referred to as female, so it's the same here where 90% locomotives in the franchise that exist in real life as well are female such as Duck, if you couldn't tell I couldn't think of anything for Gordon for this au, wether basis trivia, concept art, etc, any ideas?
Since 1935 there have been two Henrys working on the island of Sodor - Henry I and Henry II!
Context: The mention of Henry having originally been ordered as an Atlantic in Sodor: Reading Between the Lines is based on Awdry's original illustrations of The Three Railway Engines, which depicts him as a 4-4-2.
Additional Context: It has been a mystery to many that Topham Hatt was able to send the deplorable Henry I to Crewe in 1935, and receive back a Stanier Class 5MT in tip-top condition as Henry II.
While I don't believe in the two Henry's theory, the fact that even the additional lore books flirt with this idea is enough for me!
AU FACT #01
Mechanical sentience is a curious little thing as nothing seems to dedicate it's apparence on all sorts of vehicles (Like Engines, Vessels, Cars and etc.) The first phenomena of this occuring was reported to be somewhere in the 1800's, and the probability of a machine becoming sentient increased overtime, weather they have a full flesh-like face, ony sporting their eyes, nose and mouth, or not having a face at all but expressing themselves by other means (Whistles, horns, bells and etc.)
Machines are also very loyal to the humans which create and operate them and develop a special kind of relationship between man and machine. The people who are around these engines care for their well being and vice-versa.
Till this day vehicles still present an ability to become sentient and people have started to further understand their Iron-horse companions.
I certainly wasn't expecting something this fast!
HELLO THERE!
Welcome to my little siding of the yard where I do a lot of silly things and make due with them. I don't promise that I'll update this regularly, but I'm sure some interesting things will come out of here. With that said. Let's get right onto the show!
Already looks great!
One day, the Fat Controller sent Edward to the Works to be overhauled. A big surprise awaited Edward.
As the fitters and painters gathered round with a brand new wardrobe, a fresh new coat, and a changed name, voice and slightly different face.
Rolling out of the workshop sheds with newfound grace, she celebrated, her days as Edward were behind her, and a wonderful new chapter as a proud female member of the fleet had finally begun.
And she already had a new name, Alice!
Note: I got this idea as during production of Shining Time Station, Edward was referred to as female, renamed to Alice in a draft script of A Place Unlike Any Other.
Thomas is a tank engine who works hard at the Docks on the Island of Sodor. She’s a cheeky little engine with six small wheels, a short, stumpy funnel, a short, stumpy boiler, and a short, stumpy dome.
She’s a fussy little engine, too, always pulling trucks loaded with cargo straight off the ships and out of the yard like she used to at on her old railway.
Confused?
Well then, welcome to my AU, dunno what to call it yet, open to suggestions!
Now as to why Thomas is female: In a caption on Wilbert Awdry's photograph of the first Ffarquhar Branch layout, Thomas is referred to as female in a sentence saying "and she's away".
And the engines in the rws didn't get numbers until book 6!
So yeah!
