Guys I truly adore the entire main cast of MASH. I think all of them are excellent. But Burghoff is so far ahead of the pack it’s incredible. What other actor, living or dead, could do a silly drag act as their character’s own mother and make it fucking heartbreaking? Besides being a hot mess of tears whenever I see this, I am utterly in awe of it.

Yep.  That episode is exactly what you think it is:  pro-birth control, pro-population control, pro-choice, and pro-women’s right to choose.  And yes, Kirk, the supposed playboy of the spaceways, is in favor of all of the above.

It was written and aired in 1969.
