DOG TIER EARS TUTORIAL
Howdy y’all!! Here’s my tutorial for simple dog ears~~ ;u;
What you’ll need:
- Choice fabrics (this works better with thicker fabrics such as fleece, furs, plush & velboa but thin should work just as well, just aim for some that are soft!)
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors
- Pipe cleaners (yes they are godsend in my book aha)
so here are the dimensions! Going from
left to right it reads:
4 inches or 10.5 cm
5 1/8 inches or 13 cm for the thin line
4 1/4 inches or 10.8 cm at the bottom
You can change them up if you prefer to accommodate yourself~
————————————————————————————————-
Step 1: Cut your fabric in the dimensions above make sure to make a Right ear as well since the dimensions above are for a Left ear all you really have to do is reverse the pattern or the piece you’ve already cut!
Make sure to draw the shape on the Wrong side of the fabric!! So later when you glue them, you glue them wrong sides together!!
Step 2: Take 2 or 3 pipe cleaners depending on the thickness of your fabric and its ability to hold itself up. (I used 2 since I used fur and fleece which held up pretty well also because it was made last minute aha!)
For 2 you would bend them like so (ignore that I put 3 aha):
——————————————————————————————————-
After that you would place it on the the wrong side of the back fabric and hot glue it down. Make sure to leave a 1/8 inch to half a cm from the edge! Hot glue it down on all 3 pipe cleaners then quickly place the top on and sandwich that little bugger!
(I chose these sparkly silver pipe cleaners because I thought it would hold better onto the fabric and wig! But use what you have/like by all means~ If it ends up being too short/long on the ends for your preferences you can always add or subtract the pipe cleaner by twisting on some more or cutting some off!)
For 3 just add another pipe cleaner like so:
Once you have that it should look like this! 8D If there is too much pipe cleaner showing just touch up the sides to seal it all in with hot glue~~ edit* Additional fuzzy inside part optional! (I just took the scrap fur I cut and glued that on too!)
Now, how to place these on your wig! This is where you put on your wig and figure out where you want the ear to be placed. Once you have figured out where you want all 3 points to go on the wig try to figure out where those points are inside of your wig! There’s a lot of fumbling around involved here and your wig can get in the way but you can maybe clip or tie it to help you! Patience!! 8DD
It should look sort of like this!
Try to part the hair where you want to stick the pipe cleaner in!
Once you have it through one line of the wig loop it as shown!
If it’s in the mesh area just poke it through and form a circle and bend it flat down~
Then it should end up looking like this! Now turn it inside out and…
TA DAAA~~~~ You’ve gained Dog Tier !! 8DD
NOW ===> GO OFF AND BE A DOG, JADE.
There's this lapse in therian, transspecies, and other animal(-istic) oriented spaces (even in the furry community where it's largely roleplay and rarely anyone identifies with or as a nonhuman) where one will "stay in their species" and refuse to venture outside of it.
Nonhumanity, beasthood, whatever term fits best for you as the reader, hinges on the idea that biology doesn't determine species, that species is a construct to justify one's separation and abuse from the Earth and all that inhabits it, that it and other classifications are fluid in that sense and can get ever more so. It's based in the idea that parts of an identity can "contradict" each other.
So why is it that these communities will often 'pick' one species and limit themselves to it? Why is it that every other post there's someone confused over phantom/physical wing shifts when their species doesn't have it? Why is it that non-amphibians geek out over how cool it would be to have gills, only to frame it as 'silly' because their -type doesn't posses them?
You can be physically a wolf and mentally a beetle. You can be a biological shark with a dove's wings. You can be a robot with organic fins. The fursona you use doesn't have to be 'realistic' 'unique' 'aesthetically pleasing' or 'symbolic', it can be anything you like. The gear that gives you euphoria doesn't have to be of your species. You can work towards gaining gills as an otter because you'd find them useful.
Mixing and matching your physical, mental, and spiritual components is okay. Redefine how you view species. Redefine how you view yourself as inhuman.
When you say your body is human but you’re completely nonhuman, can I ask how it works for you? I wonder if I relate
it's kinda hard to explain, but ill try. so, im not physically nonhuman, right? my body is completely, 100% human; i look human, i have human physiology, i have human organs and human cells and human DNA. but my body is not me. "me", my mind, my conscience, what some people would call my soul, isnt in my body; its in my brain.
if you removed every organ of my body but left only the brain (and managed to keep me alive somehow), i would still be me. if you only removed my brain, but left everything else, i would not be me anymore. does that make sense?
my mind is what is nonhuman. i am a dragon with a human body, a human with a dragon mind. if i am not my body but my mind, then i am completely nonhuman, even if my body is not.
This is very similar to how I feel!
Except in my case, I don't feel like I am my brain either, but rather an inhabitant of the brain which I am using. My body is my vessel; it's mine in the same way I could own a vehicle.
Driving a car doesn't mean I AM a car. Owning a car doesn't mean I'm a car, despite it being "my car". I utilise the car's functions and internal mechanics to drive it; I am limited, in the process of driving, to the capabilities of the car.
While driving the car, I still know how to swim, but I can't make the car swim, yeah?
And though the car only moves according to what I want it to do, and though it is indeed mine, I'm still not a car - just the person who's driving it.
In a similar way - I am entirely physically human, in that I am inhabiting a human body which functions according to its own human biological mechanisms. But I am not at all human. This is true even though I look like a human and work like a human, and in a lot of cases do think like a human. These are effects of the human brain I'm driving, which has its own gears and mechanisms which I can't directly control (same as I couldn't just reach into a car's engine and change how it works, but I don't need to be able to do that to drive it)!
Sometimes I feel at odds with my own human brain, because it doesn't feel like me; it doesn't feel like home. But also, a wolf can't think up a fictional story and a spirit monster can't pet a cat, so I think it roughly balances out. ^^

I am “human”, I physically look human, I speak a human language, but something about me is wrong and unsettling to real humans.
It’s like I’m wearing a human’s skin, and imitating the language but it isn’t all right.
I’m human in the sense of uncanny valley, yes it looks human but something is wrong, a smile too wide, eyes too wide, pupils too dialated.
Because I’m almost human, but not quite.
I’m an entity, an imitation, a skinwalker,
I've been seeing a lot of confusion about the distinction between some commonly-used terms, so here's a refresher!
Therian/Therianthrope: Someone who is a nonhuman animal or animal-like creature in some way. Any therian may identify as either fully nonhuman or as both human and nonhuman.
Physical Therian: A therian who feels that their physical body is not human*. Many physical therians experience their bodies as being nonhuman due to delusions and/or hallucinations (e.g. clinical zoanthropy), but others have a physical identity due to beliefs about their personal origin (e.g. that they have nonhuman ancestry, or were born nonhuman and shapeshifted into a human at a young age).
Holothere/Holotheric Therian: A physical therian who also identifies as nonhuman in all other ways, such as mentally and spiritually, and does not identify as human in any way.
Transspecies: Someone who is nonhuman in some way and feels that those experiences fit a trans narrative, usually either due to being both nonhuman and transgender and seeing those experiences as similar or inseparable and/or due to a desire to "transition" toward nonhumanity in some way (such as socially or through body modification). Some transspecies people use it as their only label, but many use it as a modifier (e.g. "transspecies therian"). This term is entirely unrelated to tr*nsID identities and existed long before that community formed.
Phantom Shift: Feeling the presence of limbs or features (such as a tail or feathers) that do not exist in physical reality. A person having a phantom shift may "see" those body parts in their minds eye, but will know that they aren't physically there. Phantom body parts may react to physical reality and give sensory feedback, but they cannot physically interact with anything and often pass through objects like a ghost. Phantom shifts are a common experience for all types of therians. Some therians feel the presence of phantom parts 24/7, while others only feel them occasionally. Not all therians experience phantom shifts, however, and not everyone who has phantom shifts is a therian.
Physical Shift: Feeling and/or seeing one's bodily features literally, physically change. Physical shifts are typically experienced by people who have hallucinations, and have never been documented to occur in consensus reality. That is, physical changes are experienced in someone's subjective (personal) reality and cannot be seen or measured by other people.
*Note: While it has become common for people to use metaphorical explanations like "I'm a bird so this is a bird's body" as a reason for identifying as a physical therian, the term "physical therian" was originally intended to represent the marginalized sub-community of therians who identify as literally physically nonhuman. If you are someone who identifies as a physical therian in a metaphorical way I'm not telling you to stop, but do please consider your reasons for doing so (physical identity is not more intense, serious, or "real" than other kinds!) and please be respectful of the therians who created this label. See the last reblog of this post for more info about how this trend has affected the physical therian community.
on all levels except physical , i am a trout
Misgendering someone is never okay.
Even if you don't like them, even if they're canceled, even if they're a CRIMINAL.
Identity is not a privilege that can be revoked at any given moment.
I love peanut butter. It makes me feel doggy. Apples and peanut butter is one of my favorite snacks. It makes me feel like I’m a good dog who got a special treat.
i think im reconsidering my theriotype since being a wolf doesnt really align with my raw vegan diet and my prey instincts (good hearing, rapid response, agitated heart rate when in danger, etc) ,,, i think im some kind of hare.. i know im a mammal, and that forests are my hearthome
nvm im still wolf even if my human form is vegan !!! but also im still a moose , elk and ungulate in general and also maybe im still am a hare !!
