the fact that moray eels have a pharyngeal jaw that they can justā¦..move from the back of their throat is pretty fucking awesome but also terrifying. moray eels are filed underĀ āsea creatures who i respect from a distance and that distance being on land from behind my computer screenā
crab: ah fuck im in a bit of a conundrum, maybe if i wiggle i can-
moray eels pharyngeal jaw: no

cannot stop thinking about "if soulmates do exist they're not found. they're made" and how much more wonderful a concept it is. you were not made to fit with someone else, you were made be yourself and it's up to you to choose who fits with you and how they fit. you get to wake up every day and choose to have the people you love the most belong with you and that makes it so much more meaningful than some random act of fate forcing you together
Thereās a French BD/comic series currently being published about her!
Adhd really is like⦠bedroom is slightly messy it would be nice to tidy it some
bedroom is very messy I really should tidy up
bedroom is chaotic I NEED to tidy but my brain says no. Why. Whyyy.
I guess Iāll just have to watch where I step in here for the rest of my life. The mess is everywhere. Iām one with the mess.
A sudden Need to Clean⢠makes you get the room looking like some fancy homes magazine cover, and you think āIāll never ever let it get that bad again, and thenā¦
bedroom is slightly messy (uh oh)
ADHD organization tips:Ā
-out of sight = out of mind, as in, if you canāt see it, you will forget it exists. Set up your space such that, when everything is put away, you can still see it all (remove closet doors, shallow shelves so nothing is behind anything else, etc.)
-one-step access. None of thisĀ āto get to this thing, I have to get a stool, remove the box in front of it, grab the thing i want, put the box back, put the stool back-ā nah. One step access. Not evenĀ āthis thing belongs behind this thingā. Open drawer. Is thing right there? good. Have to move other thing to get to it? bad. Multi-steps means youāll rarely use it, and when you do, it will NEVER GET PUT AWAY AGAIN. Multi-step access is for deep storage and the items that get the least frequent use.
-an itemās home is within armās reach of where you are most likely to use it/want to put it down.
-items can have multiple homes and thatās ok. I have three pencil/pen cans around my room, and like two or three places where IāmĀ āallowedā to place things like my wallet and keys (and I am NOT allowed to place them anywhere else, because then Iāll lose them forever).
-examine the mess on your floor and determine the categories, then ask why those things are on the floor.Ā
āWhy pile of clean clothes? because I didnāt want to fold them up. Solution: fuck folding clothes, clothes only get sorted into categories and then dumped into drawers or crates. Thatās fine and ok.Ā
āWhy pile of kinda-dirty-but-can-still-wear clothes? because I donāt want to put them away (i wore them once) but i donāt want to put them in the laundry basket (theyāre not really dirty yet). Solution: have a home forĀ ākinda dirtyā clothes. I drape mine over the edge of my hamper.Ā
ā- a bunch of trash on your floor? Because the trash can is all the way over there. Solution: put a bunch of trash cans all around your room.
ā- pile of papers on desk? because i need to put them in my files where theyāll eventually go. Solution: one of those cute magazine boxes on desk, specifically forĀ āto fileā papers.Ā
-permanent piles on surfaces go in cute little boxes exactly where they already were. e.g. pile on nightstand consisting of wallet, keys, meds, phone, etc??? cute little box right on the nightstand for all that stuff youāll grab every day. Pile on desk of shit that you need to take back out to the kitchen but havenāt yet? grab a little tray specifically to accumulate things youāll take back out to the kitchen at some point. box on nightstand forĀ āstuff that could/usually does go in purse, but isnāt there today for whatever reasonā. Lil box forĀ ārandom tiny shit that I should put away at some pointā like hair ties, safety pins, push pins, etc.
-itās ok for things toĀ āliveā in the place where youāll need them next, even if itās notĀ āawayā, so long as those things arenāt in your way. My pjs live on my bed, because Iām going to wear them again tonight. If Iām feeling fancy Iāll fold them and put them at the foot of the bed. Most days Iāll just yeet them on there and thatās where they Belong. My meds belong in a lil box on my nightstand, because thatās where Iāll set out my pills for the next day.
-Ā ādump stationā = right inside the door, where youāll divest yourself of everything automatically anyways. Hook for your purse, hook for workbag, a few hooks for coats etc (even though coatsĀ āliveā in the closet, itās ok for them to live here too), box/tray for wallet etc, place for shoes. Because Iām gonna dump them the moment I walk in the door anyway, and if theirĀ āplaceā isnāt right there, theyāre just gonna end up part of the mess
-beware the corner piles. Observe them, question them, solve them. Shit accumulates inĀ ādead spotsā on the floor where you donāt walk often. Watch those piles. What are those piles? Where are their homes? And why arenāt they there? Are their homes too inaccessible? Did I accidentally start a new hobby and none of the supplies for that have a home yet? Is it somethingĀ āin progressā that I still intend to work on/do something with?Ā
youāll still go through the cycles of accumulating mess and destroying it all in one go, but the mess accumulated will be so much less and so much easier to deal with.
@quousque this is amazing! Iām gonna print this out and use it to fix my mess! Thank you so much!
āI donāt like standard beauty. There is no beauty without strangeness.ā
ā Karl Lagerfeld (via quotemadness)
āThe best people possess a feeling for beauty, the courage to take risks, the discipline to tell the truth, the capacity for sacrifice. Ironically, their virtues make them vulnerable; they are often wounded, sometimes destroyed.ā
ā Ernest Hemingway (via quotemadness)
āI think I fall in love a little bit with anyone who shows me their soul⦠I appreciate rawness so much.ā
ā Emery Allen (via quotemadness)
During the most poor and homeless period of my life, I had a lot of people get angry with me because I spent $25 on Bath and Body Works candles during a sale. They couldnāt comprehend why the hell I would do that when I had been fighting for months to try and get us on our feet, afford food, and have an apartment to live in.
Those candles were placed beside wherever I slept that night. In the morning, I would move them and set them wherever Iād have to hang out. At one point I carried one around in my purse - one of those big honking 3-wick candles. I never lit them, but Iād open them and smell them a lot.
I credit that purchase with a lot of my drive that got me to where I am today. I had been working tirelessly, 15+ hour days with barely any reward, constantly on the phone or trying to deal with organizations and associations toĀ āget help atā. Itād gone on for almost a year by the end of it, and I was so burnt out, to the point that I would shake 24/7. But I could get a bit of relief from my 3-wickĀ āupper middle class lifestyleā candles. They represented my future goals, my home I wanted to decorate, and how I would one day not be in this mess anymore.
When we moved into the apartment, and our financial status improved, I burned those candles every single day. When they were empty, I cleaned them out, stuck labels on them, and they became the starting point of my really cute organization system I had ALWAYS planned to have.
So whenever I hear about someone very poor getting themselves a treat - maybe itās Starbucks, maybe itās a home deco item, maybe itās a video game⦠I donāt judge them. I get it. I get that you canāt go without anything for that long without it making you go crazy. You need to pull some joy, inspiration, and motivation from somewhere.
poor people deserve things they want, too. it is unfair to expect poor people to only buy things they āneedā.
My grandfather used to tell me: if you only have 20 kr left, you buy grocery for 10 kr and flowers for the other 10 kr because you need a reason to live as well.
We are not machines and an unmet need is an unmet need.

Oh dear god, please yes.
I was having a little bit of fun with the monster manual, no I do not take constructive criticism
when Lemony Snicket wrote āI will love you if I never see you again, and I will love you if I see you everydayā that hurt me
āI will love you if I never see you again, and I will love you if I see you every Tuesday. I will love you as the starfish loves a coral reef and as kudzu loves trees, even if the oceans turn to sawdust and the trees fall in the forest without anyone around to hear them. I will love you as the pesto loves the fettuccini and as the horseradish loves the miyagi, and the pepperoni loves the pizza. I will love you as the manatee loves the head of lettuce and as the dark spot loves the leopard, as the leech loves the ankle of a wader and as a corpse loves the beak of the vulture. I will love you as the doctor loves his sickest patient and a lake loves its thirstiest swimmer. I will love you as the beard loves the chin, and the crumbs love the beard, and the damp napkin loves the crumbs, and the precious document loves the dampness of the napkin, and the squinting eye of the reader loves the smudged document, and the tears of sadness love the squinting eye as it misreads what is written. I will love you as the iceberg loves the ship, and the passengers love the lifeboat, and the lifeboat loves the teeth of the sperm whale, and the sperm whale loves the flavor of naval uniforms. I will love you as a drawer loves a secret compartment, and as a secret compartment loves a secret, and as a secret loves to make a person gasp⦠I will love you until all such compartments are discovered and opened, and all the secrets have gone gasping into the world. I will love you until all the codes and hearts have been broken and until every anagram and egg has been unscrambled. I will love you until every fire is extinguished and rebuilt from the handsomest and most susceptible of woods. I will love you until the bird hates a nest and the worm hates an apple. I will love you as we find ourselves farther and farther from one another, where once we were so close⦠I will love you until the chances of us running into one another slip from slim to zero, I will love you until your face is fogged by distant memory. I will love you no matter where you go and who you see, I will love you if you donāt marry me. I will love you if you marry someone elseāand i will love you if you never marry at all, and spend your years wishing you had married me after all. That is how I will love you even as the world goes on its wicked way.ā

Her demonstration drew two dozen supporters. She was wearing a modest shirt and some cut-off shorts (which we canāt see in the images here because theyāre mostly hidden by her laptop, exacerbating the need for retort against her professorās disagreement with them).
