a while back i went to a comic con where the writers and cast of Red Dwarf did a panel. i can't remember exactly how, but the topic of 'political correctness' was brought up and Craig Charles said:

"if Red Dwarf was made these days, you'd have two black main characters and a transgender AI!"

regarding cutie marks, rimmer was defo a blank flank for SO long and when he finally got it he took it as a sign he was destined to be a space corps high-flier like his family (not quite, young horse….) (i hope you all recognise that planet !!) while lister got his EARLY and didn’t really figure it out most his life but thought it looked Cool. i feel mechs don’t get cutie marks, nor do felis equestrians, so.

i fear this is too niche but i WILL be drawing more 🐴

I find this surprising and also very good. I love the choice of cutie mark for Lister and how you've drawn his braided mane. Cat looks fabulous in all of these panels.

they should make an anime about major world events but

a) it should not be completely terrible, unlike the existing one which is a good contender for the worst anime ever made

b) it should somewhat prioritise events most germane to current geopolitical situations

c) figure something out so the characters aren't >90% boys for no reason.

d) also the characters should kiss each other at least occasionally so the shippers get to have nice things. ❤️

What a very funny joke that definitely did not happen because Nintendo definitely did not buy up almost a third of the shares of the top five TV manufacturers in the time between the announcement and release of the Wii, shares which definitely didn't skyrocket in value over the next two years due to an increase in flatscreen sales, nearly half of which independent analysts attributed to people replacing damaged TVs with newer, more expensive models from electronics stores that relied on high-pressure sales tactics to upsell people and get them to buy more expensive models on credit which they couldn't actually afford.

Strictly speaking, "ultimate" means "last", not "best". It's often figuratively employed in the latter sense to suggest that the thing so described is the final word on the subject, after which nothing more need be said, but if we're being real technical, describing a game or movie that was so bad it killed its entire franchise as the "ultimate" is in fact correct.

It's Latin for "nearly" or "almost", and it does pop up in a few other English words. "Penultimate", "penumbra" and "peninsula" are the only ones I can think of that you'd even remotely expect to encounter in everyday speech, though; the rest are all medical or mathematical jargon.

Penconsistency: for when a database only goes slightly wrong, briefly, occasionally.

Penorgasmic: new term for edging which, as a bonus, sounds even dirtier than it is.

Pencromulent: when a made up word is just short of achieving widespread legitimacy.
