ocd stands for āoh CMON dudeā which is what you say to your brain when you catch it spinning a complex web of the stupidest shit imaginable that it has never the less managed to completely entrap you within
Seems about FUCKING RIGHT
Does it bother anyone else when people say āIām so ocdā when they mean something like anal or particular? For me it bothers me because it misrepresents what my condition is, and kind of trivializes it.
The hardest part of accepting uncertainty in OCD for me to accept is the idea that I have to accept my pOCD. I feel like people who donāt have OCD donāt have to accept the fears of potentially acting on obsessions, and I just wish I could have that certainty. But I have to accept itās just not in the cards for me.
I eventually want to have kids, but it feels impossible to have kids with my pOCD fears. I feel like no matter how much work I do in therapy, Iāll never be able to accept the uncertainty, because I feel like accepting uncertainty means I am accepting the idea that I could hurt children.
Any pOCD sufferers have any tips for getting through it?
Sometimes you just have to laugh at ocd. Here are some of the things that Iāve actually been afraid that I might do because of intrusive thoughts:
-steal my therapists shoe and throw it across the room
-take my water bottle at hit a kid across the head like a baseball on a tee
-bite a stranger at work
-take a customerās raw chicken off the checkout belt and either throw it into the ground or bite into it (Iām a vegetarian)
-pee my pants in the middle of the grocery store (on purpose)
To everyone with the violent, sexual, and taboo intrusive thought kind of ocd, I see you, I feel you, you are not your thoughts š
I know what itās like to get threats just for telling someone about your intrusive thoughts.
You will always have a safe space here.
How I feel about my intrusive thoughts
Something that actually helps my ocd is journaling. It lets me see what my thoughts sound like to other people, and therefore helps me realize how insane they are.
