Even though your body may feel like a prison sometimes, Really, it is home to your soul Your body is where you reside for now And what you experience the world through

Some days you feel like you want to rip open your skin And be freed But damaging yourself won’t help. Your body works to let you live, and breath, and see And feel And even though sometimes you wish you couldn’t feel And it’s too painful to live Your body never stops giving

When you die, all that will be left of you are two things: A body and memories. And in these memories, your body will be remembered You will be remembered And that is all

Your body is a symbol, a temple, a home Love your body, Appreciate your body, for some day, it will be all that’s left

I hope that you have the strength to make a change And one day, when your daughter asks you “Will it ever get better?” You can smile as you think back to the time When you realised that peoples’ words were only words And that you were more than the weight displayed the scale Or the grade of your latest test Or the voices in your head that were telling you to end it all When you began noticing the improvements Then you can truthfully tell her “It does.”
