"Healing" is becoming a bizarre word. Can we stop acting like healing is some beautiful, aesthetic journey where you wake up one day glowing, drinking green smoothies, and journaling in perfect handwriting ?Sometimes healing looks incredibly boring. It looks like taking your medication even though you're tired of needing it. It looks like doing laundry because you know tomorrow's version of you will appreciate it. It looks like leaving a conversation before it becomes an argument. It looks like admitting you were wrong. It looks like going to bed instead of spiraling until 4 a.m. The internet has made healing look inspiring. Most of the time it's repetitive. Quiet. Sometimes frustrating. Sometimes so small you don't even notice you're making progress until months or years later. Healing isn't supposed to be impressive. It's supposed to be personal and imperfect. It's allowed to look ordinary, slow, messy. And it is never wasted effort.
