Thought I would share my swordsmen of the mist ref sheet with the rest of you all that I put together and use for my art. You kind of get a good idea for the different official "uniform" conventions in the mist when all the characters are lined up like this. As a heads up the colored in Zabuza lineups aren't my own, they're from tumblr user @anbubox - links to their zabuza settei sheet upscales: set one and set two. I also couldn't find any proper turnarounds for Ameyuri Ringo, so I made use of her naruto online sprite sheets here as well - you can view those and others on the spriters-resource website.

For official height comparisons, I also put together this handy dandy lineup of all the (non boruto era) swordsmen of the mist:

Again, not using anything Boruto era here, might do that separately in another post though for Kirigakure specifically again. Please note that Chojuro and Suigetsu's heights listed are from their age during the time frame that Shippuden takes place.
I also put together a bit of an eye color chart as well. Since most of the characters you see show up during edo tensei in the anime, I tried to pull from the anime specifically since the anime gives edo tensei characters their eye color while alive, but with black sclera. Fuguki Suikazan is an example of this, since we see him alive during a flashback scene where his eye color is visible, as well as when he is reanimated during edo tensei. His brown eye color during both is roughly about the same.
I've noticed a lot of video games and other extended materials tend to default to giving all edo tensei characters white eyes with dark sclera, so I tried to avoid using those as eye color reference specifically. Anime seems to work best here, although there's a caveat - the scene where the seven ninja swordsmen once reanimated are first introduced as a group. During that scene, the anime shows them all with the same ghostly white eyes. As an example, Zabuza shows up prior to the rest of the swordsmen in the edo tensei arc, and has his brown eyes like he did while alive. During the scene where all the ninja swordsmen are introduced together though as a full lineup, he suddenly reverts to white eyes like all of the others.
In their individual scenes in the anime episodes after this, actual eye colors are used once again for the most part. The main outliers unfortunately seem to be Ameyuri Ringo and Jinin Akebino who are instead shown with flat dark filled in eyes during edo tensei, so there wasn't much to pull from there. But I added them to the chart anyway.
It's too bad we don't really see Mangetsu much after this introduction, so we can't say for sure what his eye color while alive could have been. It may have also been purple like Suigetsu, but I figured I'd include Gengetsu into the lineup as another Hozuki to give options - Mangetsu's eye color may have also been light blue too, we just can't say for sure. Anyway Raiga's eye color seems to just change depending on scene lighting from shades of blue to green, so I included some options there to get an idea for range.

Something something the portrayal of trauma in Naruto is fascinating because of how much of the cast is explicitly or implied to be traumatized. This means that protagonists, antagonists, and everything in between are case studies in trauma response.
Something something traumatized characters lashing out in destructive or even violent ways isn’t necessarily framed as a bad thing. Instead, that violence is framed as a morally nuanced choice. The use of violence is a tool that can bring someone a sense of peace (Shikamaru “killing” Hidan) and prevent more people from getting hurt (Zabuza killing Gato, Sasuke killing Orochimaru), but it can also catch people who aren’t to blame in the crossfire (Sasuke killing the samurai and abandoning Taka) and perpetuate cycles of violence (the entire Pain arc).
Something something through Naruto, characters who lash out, even when they’re framed as being in the wrong, are also treated as being not only deeply sympathetic, but understandable. It’s not uncommon for a character to be given a flashback scene that’s meant to elicit the response “Of course they ended up Like That!” (Gaara, Neji, Itachi, etc.)
Something something the only trauma response that is consistently framed as the wrong way to cope is self-destruction and stagnation. This covers everything from Sasuke’s progressively self-sabotaging behavior to Chiyo’s self-isolation to Tsunade becoming an aimless addict to Shikamaru attempting to burry his emotions to Kabuto’s self-mutilation in an attempt to be more like his abuser.
Honestly at times felt we should have seen more of Naruto academy days and think more could have been done showcasing how the ninja system works within Konoha which is a militarized system.
This is essentially apart of my naruto rewrite which creates a system for how ninjas are evaluated and taught within the academy. To start off we’ll start off with the entrance exam into the academy. We know from Shikamaru that you can decide whether or not you want to become a ninja. And also how a lot of ninjas who come from established clans are already taught basic and sometimes advance techniques. So with the idea of an entrance exam it’s meant to essentially evaluate the students ability and place them into the track course that’s fits their skill set.
Entrance Exam: Initial Placement Based on Ability
Purpose: Sort students into tiers or tracks based on their existing skill sets. This allows the narrative to reflect why clan children (like Sasuke, Neji, or Ino) are often more advanced due to family training.
Criteria: Intelligence (strategy, problem-solving), combat aptitude (sparring or basic taijutsu forms), chakra control, and maybe even psychological profiling (to match with senseis later).
Outcome: Students are placed into Track A (advanced), Track B (standard), or Track C (remedial) classes—or more tiers if needed.
Narrative Benefit: Shows Naruto’s underdog status isn’t just social—it’s systemic. He likely tested low due to a lack of home training or emotional instability, so he starts at the bottom tier.
Let’s now proceed with how these classes are leveled and the overall structure. There would be general classes such as history or math it makes sense in the grand scheme seeing the amount of propaganda that takes place within Konoha. But also these general courses would be utilized in strategy, mission planning and so on.
* side note Iruka would be placed as homeroom teacher who looks over all the students files and handles their evaluations *
now onto the tracks.
Shinobi Skill Tracks (Specialized Tiers)
Based on entrance exam results and ongoing evaluations, students are placed into Skill Tracks, each one tailored to their progress:
Track A (Advanced): Clan kids or prodigies like Sasuke, Shikamaru, Neji, Ino, etc.
Track B (Standard): Average students like Kiba, Hinata, and Choji.
Track C (Remedial/Development): Students like Naruto, who struggle with chakra control or combat due to a lack of prior training or trauma.
Track A: Advanced Track (Clan Prodigies & High Aptitude)
Track B: Standard Track (Average Performers with Growth Potential)
* side note Tenten was originally placed in track c but after further evaluation felt Track B was more suited for her but i have yet to make that adjustment cause i be working a lot *
One thing I plan on implementing into the academy would be practical mission simulations centered on team work, problem solving, leadership, stamina, and emotional maturity.
The format is basically three students, one from each track placed into a group with a professor often times Iruka to evaluate their teamwork skills mainly.
Always felt like these missions worked based for the academy as practical missions centered around teaching team work and so on.
Narrative Use:
Naruto repeatedly fails missions not because he’s uncooperative, but because others sabotage, ignore, or abandon him, reinforcing his isolation.
Iruka could witness this firsthand, shifting his attitude from skeptical to supportive.
Also for further clarification when it comes to the Track courses it’s a flexible system, students are able to “test into” specific Track A classes while still being officially enrolled in Track B or C. This allows for strength-based specialization and highlights individual talent rather than purely clan status.

Lastly how the students are evaluated and how they graduate.
For this purpose there are three evaluations, the first being one that’s done to permit you into the academy and see where your skill set lies. The second being the mid academy evaluation.
Mid-Academy Evaluation: Class Advancement or Early Graduation Eligibility
Purpose: Assess progress and see who is eligible to move up a class tier or skip ahead to graduation training.
Example: Itachi likely tested into Tier 1 from the start, and during his Mid-Evaluation, his Genjutsu proficiency and advanced battle sense flagged him as ready for early genin status.
This also adds stakes—students who don’t progress may be held back or even washed out of the Academy.
Pre-Graduation Evaluation: Readiness Check
This could be the equivalent of what Naruto kept failing—not the final “you pass or fail” moment, but an indicator of whether you're ready for the true graduation exam.
It would include:
Teamwork simulations
Mission mock-ups
Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, Taijutsu grading
Chakra nature, aptitude or potential
Graduation Exam: A Cumulative Test
Each class has a specific "Final Jutsu" (like Naruto’s class using Shadow Clones). It allows the exam to vary depending on the needs of the era, the teacher’s design, or even the village’s political state.
For Naruto’s class:
Passing would mean being able to safely and successfully use a multi-clone jutsu and complete a small mission simulation (like rescuing a “hostage” or retrieving a scroll).
Naruto fails this not just because he struggles with the technique, but because of chakra control and inconsistency, again reinforcing why the "failures" are more holistic than just one jutsu.

He's not particularly attached gender roles, he can basically be anything you tell him to be (and yes, tell him, because he's not going to be suggesting anything hismelf, you're in charge because he's totally socially oblivious). He might not pick up on the household chores all that well in the beginning, but give him some time to figure the role out and he'd make for an excellent housewife. Remember to compliment his smile a lot, as a little reward for his hard work. He'll start to think it's better than anything the life of a shinobi could offer him. Also uhh... totally a trophy wife too? He's canonically super hot?
Choji. Soooo... you're saying there's a job where he makes food, eats food, buys food, takes care of food, keeps track of food??? 24/7 access to the fridge? And you're allowing him to do it, like for free? No, no, better yet, you take care of everything else? And you pay for the food? Heck yes. Sign him up. He would take excellent care of the house because he's basically in his personal mini heaven. A happy wife is a happy life, as they say. And housewife Choji? Happiest Choji.
Hashirama. Mmmm well yes, he does have a lot of other responsibilities in his life and it's probably not the most responsible thing to abandon his duties in favor of an idyllic life with his wifey/hubbie, but... it's just such an excellent idea?? He's sold the moment you suggest it. I mean, he looooooves his spouse and his family and he just wants to be there for them every day. And besides, Tobirama can surely take care of the *checks notes* everything else, right? Hehe, don't think about it too hard, he just made you some strawberry rice cakes, c'mon don't make the chef sad, eat up~! (ᵔ◡ᵔ)
Obito. Primary choice in profession: Hokage. Secondary choice in profession: homesteading. If he can't care for people on the macro-scale, then he will care for them on the micro-scale, by being a dutiful, loving wifey. Or, well, at least he would've, if he wasn't snatched up by anti-housewifey forces (Madara, pure evil!). He would've made for an excellent bubbly '50s type of housewife male edition, like picture perfect. Would also get pretty competitive with other housewifeys, but it's all in good spirit. Mostly. Umm yes, he would totally badmouth other wifeys, he's competitive and kinda petty, let's not lie to ourselves. Never forget what Madara took from us.
Minato. To be honest, being a housewife has always been one of his fantasies. And it totally helps that he's into domineering, powerful babes. Basically, he knew what he wanted since he was a kid. It was all calculated. Alas, it was mostly external circumstance that had him go the traditional route. He would love to switch the roles if only the world was generous enough to allow for it. Headcanon: as soon as Kushina would've recovered postpartum, he would've personally ensured she gets Hokage status duties, as per her wish, and he would've stayed back home with baby 'ruto.

Nah, going against the grain is so much work... man, just don't pick battles you can easily avoid. Basically, this is a coward conformist secretly yearning to be doing the dishes instead of risking his life on the battlefield.
Gaara. He never got to experience happy family life, and he craves that so bad. The small joys of everyday life in a normal family could heal his soul, fix his life, have him wake up with the biggest smile on his face every day. But there is one thing more important than his self-soothing fantasies, and that is the safety of his village, and his job as the Kazekage to tend to his people. He wouldn't abandon the position, it's almost sacred duty to him. After all, with the limited resources and lowest population, among other vulnerabilities Suna has, there is no one powerful enough to ensure the same level of protection.
Itachi. Oh, domesticity. The joy of a simple life. Itachi's wildest dreams consist of the most mundane daily acts. You always wish for what you can't have, eh? The peace of feeding stray kitties in the neighborhood instead of taking on hitman missions. The joy of having your lover wake up to the pleasant smell of fried eggs instead of torturing information out of some poor sod. It would've been a great life. But his fate is sealed, his days are numbered, and like so many of his hopes and dreams, this is just another one he has to let go of.
Nagato. Bless your heart. The kindness in your soul is but a droplet in the vast sea of human cruelty. If the world were different, if he hadn't witnessed so much hurt and pain and suffering, then he might've taken you up on the offer. He can imagine his old self beaming at the idea. His shy, reticent personality and soft nature would've complemented the role well. But as things are, he can't abandon his noble mission to correct the wrongs of humanity. He's already past the point of no return, he's given too much to backtrack now.

For almost his entire life, his will was not entirely his own, but at least he was outwardly free. But now you want to confine him to the home, saddle him down with menial responsibilties when he knows he can do so much more? Is this all his life is going to measure up to? The life of a meat shield and a domestic slave? Be sure to keep in contact with Sakura because your man's gonna need a steady supply of antidepressants.
Kabuto. 'Housewife' is not the word he would use, but he was basically that to Orochimaru, and he was darn good at it, too. He'd agree to it if he sees reason for it, I guess. And for the most part he'd be fine, except there would be something at the back of his head telling him that... wait, you gotta do more. This ain't it. Not yet. Kabuto, you gotta resurrect some shmucks back from the dead, stir some shit up. Live a little, y'know. Anyway, born to be a housewife, doomed to be a villain in a shounen and slightly misogynistic about it </3

I see him as those working dog types: the dog was bred for service, not for cute puppy playtime with kids. You need to keep him intellectually stimulated or else he's gonna start climbing walls lmao. Yeah, just don't keep him in the home, it's not for him. But wow, thanks for the offer, he hadn't considered that before! 👍
Yamato. So nice of you to offer. He's not very familiar with what a 'housewife' is exactly, but he'd heard that it's a peaceful, monotonous existence. He wouldn't mind that on a surface level. Sounds really sweet, actually. But he wouldn't agree to it in the end, because he was trained for the life of a shinobi, and, after all, we all have a role to embody and he wants to play to his strengths. His abilities can better be used elsewhere, that is, protecting his teammates in battle.
Iruka. Unironically would love it, would be good at it, would make other housewifeys envious with how naturally he takes the role on. He has the emotional intelligence, the practicality and the spirit for what makes a genuinely good housewife. BUT. The guilt of staying back when his dearest friends, comrades, fellow shinobi, are risking their lives on missions every day while he just sits back would eat him alive. He is not abandoning his duties.
Might Guy. Hah! Of course you'd ask, 'cause he's so dashing and handsome✨He saw this coming from a mile away, that's right. But hold your horses! It's true, he is a LOVER, but he is also a FIGHTER. He trained his whole life, refining his skill, making himself the promise to become stronger, and he will not go back on his word, no way! There are many things he needs to do first and he cannot, absolutely cannot, sit around in the home looking dashing all the time, nuh-uh. Pass!
Rock Lee. To be honest, he didn't even realize he had the option. He got way too tunnel-visioned into mastering taijutsu that every other option sort of fell into the background, neglected. But he's already committed to it! Call it sunk-cost or whatever you want, but he WILL uphold his own word, and he WILL become a powerful shinobi through sheer willpower and hardwork. But hey, if you really want to, he could pack you a lunch from time to time. Microdosing housewifey services! 💚
Shino. Does he want to be your housewife? Not really... Would he be good at it? Yeah, he could be good at anything he chooses. It's just that he's not really the housewifey type. Don't take it personally. His little friends would be a total waste if he wasn't out there putting them to good use. And they, too, need enrichment. Also, don't you have the terminology mixed up? Housewife? Don't you mean 'househusband'? Might want to correct that before asking anyone else. Either way, the answer is the same. No, thank you.

He HUNTS, okay? YOU can cook. Don't temper his canine pride with this soft lovey-dovey stuff, what the heck?!
Madara. Are you suicidal? Do you know who you're talking to? You think the legendary warrior, the second man to master the Six Paths, the Ghost of the Uchiha clan, their MIGHTY LEADER, got the reputation by cleaning soiled nappies and watering houseplants? He literally can't believe you put the word 'housewife' and his name into the same sentence, how does your tongue even roll like that? He doesn't think women should be housewives, especially ones with talent, forget about him. Nah, he ain't letting this go. You know what? Fight him. If you win, he will become your housewife. I hold your shoulders sympathetically as I tell you this, but you will come home one day to him having an orgy with strangers on your bed. Sorry. You can only have him if you share, and eventually he's gonna get bored even of that and set off on his journeys doing research (among other things) once again.
Orochimaru. What you say: "I want you to be my housewife. I'm in love with you." What he hears: "I'm giving you free real estate to conduct experiments. I'm a gullible fool." So yeah, he'd agree to it. Allies are so hard to come by when you're evil, after all. But like... obviously you don't expect him to vacuum the carpets and make the meals, right? A week into your loving family life, your home will start to reek of rotting meat (there is a little surprise underneath the floorboards). Don't go in the basement. I mean, he wouldn't mind, but don't do it just for your own good. You're lucky if you can sell the house for 5% of what you paid for it afterwards.

For anyone who's still around and wants to be educated, "narcissism" is a personality disorder, which is a fancy way of saying that it's a way of existing, which has real disadvantages, but which has also been effectively criminalized by the medicarceral system. If you hate narcissists, you are complicit in the ongoing social processes which deny them bodily autonomy, human connection, and basic dignity.
Narcissism/being narcissistic/having NPD is not a moral failing. Treating narcissistic people like shit is.
If you don't have NPD it's actually more important you reblog this. It's been really great seeing a lot of people with NPD react to this really positively, but I need everyone who does not have NPD to enforce this for their own blogs too.
-NPD has one of the highest suicide rates of any mood related disorder; slightly less impulsivity based attempts than BPD, but NPD sufferers are more likely to succeed in their attempts.
-NPD, like most cluster B disorders, is generally traumagenic, meaning it usually develops as a means of coping with childhood trauma, abuse, or neglect.
-"Narc abuse" is pop psychology with no real basis in reality. NPD sufferers are infinitely more likely to be abused than become abusers, and are typically more prone to self destructive than anything.
-If your parents sucked shit, it's because they *chose* to treat you like shit, not because they had a magic version of NPD that makes them a Bad Person. sorry you had to find out this way.
-Random people online with NPD aren't your parents and it's really creepy to project your trauma onto them.
