in my perfect world el already knew will was gay by s4 because when they first started school el met a girl who she thought was super pretty and nice and she wanted to be her friend and she kept getting butterflies everytime she saw her in the hall and so she went to will for advice because the knots in her stomach when she saw the girl were too much and “how do i ask her to be my friend?” and while el was describing how she felt about that girl realization dawned on will because this is how he feels about mike. and so super gently, will asks her if she, just maybe, got a…crush? and el just nods because, yeah and should she tell the girl she got a crush on her? and will immediately panics and says no and el, always being curious asks why? and that leads to will and el having a conversation in the middle of the night sitting on will’s floor about society, queerness and how isolating it can feel sometimes and when will comes out to her, voice super quiet she just hugs him tightly

Jane Hopper also known as Eleven as a character genuinely makes me cry, and the fact she was so let down by the creators tears my heart apart.
