Some images from Sydney Open 2014 For those who missed it, Sunday was Sydney Open 2014 - a wonderful opportunity to peek inside Sydney's most beautiful, historic and cutting edge modern buildings, and see places not normally open to the public. Sydney Living Museums (formerly The Historic Houses Trust) hosts this biennial event with the aid of an army of enthusiastic volunteers of all ages. There were 40 buildings open this year, and even with some careful planning I didn't get to everything I would have liked to. Here is a little sample of some of the sights from the day (for fellow photographers excuse the grain on some of the images - for various reasons I decided not to take my tripod and focused on just capturing details of the day rather than be concerned about having perfect pictures, so there's a lot of noise in a couple of them from using a high ISO).

Berlin celebrates "fall of the wall" with 8,000 glowing balloons

The German capital is commemorating 25 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall with a trail of illuminated balloons along its former route.
