her brows lifted with her signature practice innocence . a theatrical hand goes to her chest . " oh and why exactly shouldn't you take is as truth , harrington ? " the sharp click of her heels punctuated her borrowed height with born intimidation . the words that left her lips were honey over ice . " because i am nothing if not honest . "

who is she? a former coven member? a rival of some sort? what kind of vampire would make this sort of offer deal? it sounds...while RISKY, too good to be true. what would the blonde get out of this arrangement? lexa stews in her seat, desperately trying to find an angle. why would this vampire vocalize openness to harm her own kind ( or at the very least, play a hand in harming them ) ? self-hating? trying to make amends for terrible actions from the past? maybe she'd learn down the line, or maybe she'd never find out at all. at the end of the day she has a choice like the vampire said. pride or revenge. for better or for worse.

the hunter's jaw twitches and the anger begins to pool up again. " you don't need to remind me what happened, " words are uttered through grit teeth, tension returning to her neck and shoulders. " i was there. " it doesn't matter that each day brings them further and further from the event. in lexa's mind, the incident is fresh and her inability to protect kostia a glaring failure replayed over and over and over. the wound will not heal until she digs into the root. until she rips and gouges out the cause. it feels wrong to entertain this alliance. use a vampire to hunt more vampires. but the tactic and strategy were sound. who better to understand strength, speed and weakness than one of their own. surely they would not see it coming, either, so the element of SURPRISE would be won. still, many questions float around lexa's mind. some could be answered later, but others? the uncertainty makes her antsy.

attacking is no longer a wise decision. once the epiphany is processed, the brunette retracts the blade and it soon disappears on her person once more. gaze is still for many beats after and longer still, until the hunter finds her voice. she drains the last of her whisky but this time makes no gesture for the bartender to top it off. if things progress in a smooth manner, they'll be departing the tavern soon. " before i accept...whatever this is, " agreement, pact, or contract. " i need to know something. " lexa must consider all possibilities lest she wind up with a larger target painted on her back. what did you do to ostracize yourself? there had to have been a schism, a fight, a disagreement. " why do you have no allegiance to your own? what do you gain by helping me? "

the blade disappears with the same QUIET attention she'd given it when it first appeared . regina didn't act smug , there was no victorious smile adorning her ruby lips . there was just a small inclination of her head , the acknowledgement that she hadn't chosen blood that evening . but an exchange of sorts . around regina and lexa , the tavern continued to be lively , people clinking glasses , others laughing , there were people winning games of darts . regina's ear picked up on the WHOOSH of the darts in the air , the smell of alcohol permeating the air . the world was CONTINUING on , blissfully ignorant to the vampire hanging around the bar .

a soft breath escapes her nose , there was almost a laugh out of her . " you're assumption that i have NO ALLEGIANCE is cute . " her fingers curl around the counter , rising from the stool in one fluid motion , smoothing an invisible wrinkle from her jacket , acting human to onlookers . " my allegiance is simply . . . expensive . loyalty isn't something i willingly hand out because we happen to share a heartbeat . . . " she can't help the snicker under her breath , " or well , the LACK of one . i've lived long enough to learn that vampires are no different than humans . families are built , and the one's you're hunting are not the same people i connect with . they're undisciplined and gluttonous . every corpse that they leave behind invites hunters , making our undead existent inconvenient . i am sick and tired of watching my back , and YOU seem like you want revenge . " her gaze hardens , " i don't protect monsters because they share my face . "

" their killings aren't random . i've been hearing whispers for MONTHS . vampires have also been disappearing without explanation . if i'm right , then whoever KILLED the person you love is part of something larger than either of us . robin can feel there is definitely an ulterior motive for regina being here. it wasn't like they were necessarily friends? they only ever had a few classes together, been science lab partners a handful of times. certainly not enough interaction between them to warrant a visit to her job. so she listens to the blonde speak with a tone that normally would make robin shrink down into her seat and accept the jabs. to maybe even blab about everything. but there is too much at stake for robin to be the pre-steve and pre-knowing about the horrors of hawkins version of herself.

instead, robin sits up straighter and does her best to pretend like she belongs here in this radio station. that it is perfectly normal for two completely underqualified recent high school graduates would take over a radio station without any prior knowledge (thanks to dustin for helping to pull that off).

but with the way regina's mind and gaze wandered for a moment, robin thinks maybe she knows more than most... the mind flayer did in fact turn into a big mush of several missing people's bodies. maybe regina was almost one of those people?

robin keeps her answer neutral with a shrug, "it sounded like a fun job to do with my friend while i'm on this forced gap year. but thank you, it's been fun." she laughs comfortably though at regina's comment about the clash, "you're safe for now... next up was madonna actually. unless you have a special request?"

regina's smile deepened at that , but not due to any answer that robin WAS giving her , but because of how carefully she had given it . many folded under her scrutiny , but robin had learned how to bend without BREAKING around what regina said . the radio station continued its static humming around them , the equipment blinked lazily in the background , the bright red flashed MEMORIES in her mind , one's that regina much preferred to ignore . regina rested a hip against a nearby desk , her arms CROSS as she regards robin over the top of her sunglasses , batting her eyelashes as she pushed the glasses onto her head . " a forced gap year , how quaint and optimistic of you . it's like you're announcing to the world how much of a loser you are with a fresh coat of paint . it also feels like you're saying your hometown imploded before you could get the hell out . " her words land lightly , humor and distain all wrapped into a NEAT PACKAGE . but there was something sinister underneath them . . . hawkins was a trap for a lot of people . she knew that better than most . at the comment about madonna her hand flew to her chest DRAMATICALLY in regina george fashion . " she laughs inwardly . " which describes half the boys in this town . "

her gaze drifts towards the window of the studio , the reflection of the room was what regina's eyes narrowed in on , not the room itself . it was an old habit that was dying hard . ever since starcourt she learned that monsters could appear where reflections should be . the smile never left her face , it did however soften at the edges on subtly . " madonna is a solid choice , " she leans over to check the track , " but material girl ? really ? robin buckley i expected better from you . " her words entirely playful . her eyes move back to the other woman , studying her again , not her clothes or posture , but more how she decided to react , what she CHOSE to reveal , and what remained hidden behind sarcasm . robin was different , she did something that other's in hawkins didn't , she doesn't treat regina like she was crazy , or that she was better than others . robin treated regina just like anyone should yet they don't .

the realization of this settles within the blonde rich bitch , it was a comforting kind of dangerous . and it causes regina to look away , unusual for her , and if anyone saw it and threatened to tell anyone she would deny it . fingers drum against the desk , the added sound causing a metronome of comfort for regina . " you know . . . most people around here get really weirded out when i mention starcourt . they look at me like i am TRAUMATIZED , or that i am asking questions i shouldn't . The alarm system said as Hope walked over to it, typing in Alaric's code to shut off the annoying noise before anyone else could be alerted. Alaric was out buying yet another bottle of booze that he didn't need, leaving Hope in charge of his office until his return. Hope slips on her boots before slipping outside into what should be a dark night. Lights lit up the path of the driveway & the sidewalk.

CLICK. CLICK. CLICK. Hope listened following the sound of heels against stone until she met with a pretty young thing. Hope smells the air, the powerful scent of death hitting her in the face. The other speaks in such a way that would make another shrink back into themselves. Hope doesn't.
