Things are bleak. Here’s some Sirius & Harry feels.
Hey Folks-
It’s that time of year. I know this is one of everyone’s least favorite annual traditions at this point, and nobody’s more so than mine. I apologize for the lack of updates across the year. I really wanted to be more frequent on those, but I dropped the ball and I take ownership of that. I’ve been swamped with day job work, and the free time I had to dedicate to TGS was spent trying to keep things progressing forward. But one of my colleagues has generously agreed to help keep an eye on regular updates moving forward, as well as help share the load on some other logistics.
2025 started out strong, and then slowed a lot during the Summer and Fall. As we discussed in the previous update, most of the film is wrapped other than sections of the third act. VFX Supervisor Martin B. and VFX artist Seb A. have continued chipping away at two of the most complicated VFX sequences in the film, though time and availability for both of them has been limited. Outside of these two members of the team, however, things were unfortunately pretty stagnant. We had several artists ghost or otherwise leave the project, and we did what we could to keep things moving. However, I am incredibly excited to report that in the last few weeks, there has been a massive finale-worthy rallying of a number of our VFX artists. We have had five former volunteer visual effects artists agree to rejoin the project, and have added one additional new artist as well, and all of them are hard at work on new assignments!
After recovering from his injuries last year, our talented new composer Thomas Kubler was waylaid by professional commitments that slowed progress. As of November, however, we’ve been moving again, and the updated score is sounding fantastic. Out of nineteen score tracks, eleven are completely locked, with most of the others well-underway. Barring scheduling issues, I am hopeful that the score will be completed soon.
In a year where our team has been beset by major health issues, unexpected relocations, family deaths, the current challenges of this industry, displacement from the California wildfires, and more, our team of volunteers has done their collective best to keep their lives moving while still progressing on TGS as they are able, and we all appreciate them sincerely for doing so.
Many of us, myself included, have admittedly struggled to maintain morale and momentum on the project in the wake of Rowling’s ongoing hateful rhetoric and actions. A number of our volunteers have understandably had to depart because of it, and recruiting new artists has become increasingly challenging. But we made a commitment to this project, and while it has taken far longer than any of us ever anticipated, we remain dedicated to seeing it through to completion. I promise, nobody out there wants to see this film finished more than the team that poured their blood, sweat, and tears into it, and we will continue moving forward one step at a time until it is complete. We thank you all for your patience and understanding, and we look forward to bringing you more updates soon.
Wishing you all a happy and safe new year.
Reblog if you have mourned the death of a fictional character.
Are you kidding? I mourned so many.
yes……..
How about “reblog if you have fanatically denied the death of a fictional character using every means at your disposal and will hold that belief firmly until the end times.”
/nods whilst discussing this exact thing with pertifity/
BUT THEN ALL YOUR FRIENDS WOULD BE DEAD, thanks liseuse.
Some of us mourned the death of a fictional character so hard that they brought him back and gave him his own TV show.
Sirius ‘trying to find the words to describe this girl without being disrespectful’ Black
“Ever since I found out Snape was teaching here, I've wondered why Dumbledore hired him. Snape's always been fascinated by the Dark Arts, he was famous for it at school. Slimy, oily, greasy-haired kid he was.”
“'Maybe she's changed since I knew her, but the Bertha I knew wasn't forgetful at all - quite the reverse. She was a bit dim, but she had an excellent memory for gossip.”
I need to know who did this. I want to be friends with them
Black Sisters fanart ─ I spent all day doing this
how would sirius and regulus react to someone hitting on their partner? Though I don't think anyone would dare to flirt with a black's partner (with a special emphasis on sirius) especially if they're engaged but let's just say they got too drunk and let their intrusive thoughts win 😃
Anyone who hits on someone they know is engaged deserves repercussions in general tbf. But Sirius is definitely the more likely to react loudly and intensely. Especially if he's had a few drinks, I can definitely see him spoiling for a fight. Let's hope there's someone to drag him away before he gets too involved and does something he'll really regret.
Regulus doesn't drink enough in public to let him make a spectacle of himself, And he is not one to dirty his hands with the blood of lesser beings. Like a true Slytherin Black, he will walk away and ensure his revenge is executed far more thoughtfully. The victim in question will remember the look of silent fury Regulus shot them when they wake up with a face covered in incurable boils.

The whole Sirius hating Cho thing really just seems so bizarre. And I’ve seen fics treat her harshly too which makes little sense. She and Harry didn’t work out and the two of them were both dealing with an extremely traumatic situation. It’s an awful thing to go through, but nobody deserves to be vilified for it.
And also unless Cho decided to literally kill Harry, I don’t see Sirius caring about what she does let alone hating her.
Literally so so odd.
She's treated terribly by fandom because fandom has an issue with female characters (and POC characters) and also because in canon Harry notes how weepy she is (meanwhile, he's exploding every few minutes, which is totally justifiable). Fundamentally, they don't work out partly because they are both reacting to the trauma of Cedric's murder in different ways and are too inexperienced to recognise that about the other.
Have people never broken up not because someone did anything wrong but because there wasn't long-term compatibility?
Sirius eats rats in a cave for Harry- short of Harry dating Snape, he would keep his personal opinions of Harry's partner to himself (unless they were abusing him). As long as Harry is happy, Sirius wouldn't care (and also he'd correct Harry for acting like a dick- because Sirius has a chivalrous side).
I love these little moments of Sirius being a polite (and slightly chivalrous) boy so much.
“What’s going on?” he said, stretching out a hand to help Ginny up. “Phineas Nigellus said Arthur’s been badly injured — ”
And
“Harry saw Sirius move up the bench to make room for her.”
I can honor people saying that they do not care about canon but stop fucking lying about it 🙄🙄🙄🙄
Sirius became an animagus at age 15. He and James also helped Peter become an animagus at the same age. Not only did they master a subject enough to do it themselves, they were also able to tutor someone else.
Sirius figured out how to remain sane around dementors enough to convince Fudge to give him a newspaper to play crossword. Everyone else with significant trauma either goes completely catatonic or straight up just pass out if they don't have patronus charms around.
Sirius escaped this hell hole after twelve years of solitary confinement and torture. He retains enough facilities to make friends with a cat, purchase a broom with said cat, travel across the country, break into Hogwarts with no one able to spot him, twice, despite Dementors and portraits and high security specifically deployed to catch him. Hunt down a singular rat with absolute confidence that mind and memory didn't fail him. Would have succeeded if Remus didn't transform.
Survives in the wild for two years with no money, resources or help with the whole government gunning for him and scapegoating him. Manages to be there for Harry during Goblet of Fire despite all this.
Figures out the entire plot of GoF with nothing but newspaper scraps, intuition, and leaps of logic.
Sirius and James invented FaceTime.
Sirius configured a flying bike which actually works and saves Harry's life.
Sirius contributed to the Marauder's Map.
When Dumbledore showed up in the ministry Sirius and Bella were the only ones still going.
“You might,” said Lupin darkly from behind his book. “We’ve still got Transfiguration, if you’re bored you could test me. … Here.” He held out his book. Sirius snorted. “I don’t need to look at that rubbish, I know it all.” He's smart enough to back this confidence up. He walks out of DADA knowing he's definitely getting "Atleast an Outstanding." He doesn't study not because he's lazy, or because he's not smart enough for it, he doesn't need to study because he already.knows.it.all. He's an animagus. What has OWL level transfiguration got to offer him?
Remus acknowledges that Sirius and James were top of their year. A year that also consisted of brilliant people like Snape and Lily. McG calls him smart. Dumbledore calls him clever. Weirdly enough, Remus himself is never mentioned along the same lengths.
Remus' only claim to fame is that one time he was hired because of how well he knows Sirius, still doesn't offer Dumbledore any constructive intelligence on how Sirius keeps breaking into the school and fails so spectacularly at taking his medication he almost ate Harry and Peter escaped.
Sirius Black in PoA
okay this may be little too specific but. rb this and put in the tags a character you get defensive over. not as in “they deserve better” but as in “i know them better than anybody else does” <3
Is regulus black a viergin
@rebelqueenofferelden, is that you bringing this back, lmao?

Sirius Black x Canon Characterization
I was thinking about how fun it would be to do an It's A Wonderful Life type AU where postwar Draco, consumed by guilt, wishes he had never been born and thus realizes that actually his life mattered more than he thought. And as I was thinking about how a fic like that might play out I realized just how much might change and just how central to Harry's narrative Draco really is.
Draco is so intimately connected to so many things that happen in the story. If suddenly Draco doesn't exist, potentially Harry doesn't join the Quidditch team in book 1 and doesn't catch the snitch with his mouth or almost die from Voldemort cursing his broom. He still likes flying and might join the team later though, but he's no longer the youngest Seeker in a century.
Or in book 2 without Draco Harry doesn't speak Parseltongue in front of everyone because Draco isn't there to conjure a snake and consequently the whole school doesn't conclude that Harry is the heir of Slytherin. This also means that Ginny doesn't mention Harry's ability to diary!Tom and so Tom doesn't try to use her to lure Harry into the Chamber since he has no reason to think Harry would be able to open it. Hermione possibly also doesn't figure out how the voice that Harry's been hearing connects to everything and thus the golden trio may not ever realize that a basilisk is on the loose. Tom might end up deciding that the best way to learn about Harry is to fully possess Ginny or to drain her life force and permanently come out of the diary. Potentially she ends up dying and no one ever knows. Harry doesn't get the diary and thus isn't able to surprise Lucius enough that he unthinkingly tosses a sock in Dobby's direction, meaning Dobby is never freed. Dumbledore may not ever return to the school though probably he does and probably Lucius's threats to other school governors still get exposed.
In book 3 depending on whether Harry ever ends up joining the Quidditch team, the whole plot with the Firebolt in book 3 might never happen. Harry's head also doesn't get seen in Hogsmeade which means Snape doesn't drag him into his office and force him to turn out his pockets which means Lupin doesn't find out about the map and take it from Harry. Lupin consequently doesn't follow the Golden Trio into the shrieking shack in the end of the story. Ron and Harry might also notice Pettigrew on the map but they might not. Depending on how things go down in the shack Sirius might not get a chance to tell his story and prove his innocence. Snape might even attack him and hand him over to the Dementors. Potentially Peter doesn't set out to bring Voldemort back. Lupin still probably loses his job because of the curse, but he might not end up outed as a werewolf. Peter might also have been brought back to the castle and Sirius's name might have been cleared.
In book 4 without Draco, Rita doesn't have a secret source about Harry that lays the groundwork for attacks on his character in book 5.
Assuming Voldemort eventually comes back he no longer punishes Lucius through Draco. Instead he likely directly orders Snape to kill Dumbledore. Because Dumbledore is still dying Snape probably does. Harry has no path to getting mastery of the Elder Wand (assuming we go by the canon version of wandlore and we don't believe the wand actually chose Harry). If Harry makes it to the end of book 7 he dies in the forest. Narcissa probably sees no reason not to say he's still alive. Voldemort kills him for a second time and he stays dead. Though quite possibly Harry is immediately identified and killed at the Manor since Draco is not here to lie for him. Also, Dobby may never have been freed and might not be there to help save him.
Of course, lots of the canon events could still happen and things could just play out a bit differently. But this really highlights how critical a part of Harry's narrative Draco is. From a fic POV I think the most fun would come from exploring how much worse book 7 would have played out without Draco there.
I feel like the biggest change in PoA might have been that Sirius might not have escaped. If Ginny dies because of Tom, the Weasley family would be too distraught to spend the lottery money Arthur won on a vacation to Egypt, and might just save it for future. Hence no happy family picture in the newspaper, hence no rat for dog to chase... Sirius might have broken out later when the murmurs of Voldemort returning began to be more than just that, especially if he finds a newspaper two years later with Harry's proclamation of Voldemort's return at the end of Triwizard Tournament.
one of the worst feelings in fandom is when the canon version of a character is one of your favorites ever but their fanon interpretation is just something you want to dropkick into a dying star and watch it all go supernova hopefully from close enough that it will obliterate you and your memory of what the fandom did to them in the process
