Your skill level is unquestionable but listen.
I love him.
me also. as well.
This is the COOLEST thing I’ve seen in AGES. You both completely made my entire week.
I am always in these circular arguments but yes, not everyone can be vegan. A vegan diet can be detrimental to some people’s physiology. I am glad it is working out for you but most vegans require supplementation. I have a disease that impairs the way my body digests nutrients and legumes and roughage are particularly difficult for my body to deal with. I should not have to explain to you why I physically cannot be vegan, you should be able to understand that veganism is a dietary choice that is infeasible and unsustainable for many people for medical AND/OR logistical reasons. Even if veganism was good for everyone, you should understand what other people eat is not your business.
I need yall to understand that 99.9% of vegetarians/vegans don't give a fuck about what anyone else eats.
As true as that may be, the .1% that does somehow manages to find my posts every goddamn time. I get that this might be a No true Scotsman but if you are vegan, you have to acknowledge there are members of your community who are problematic, enjoy harassing others and spreading misinformation and ideology that is racist, ableist, antisemitic, islamophobic and/or dripping with ecofascist undertones.
This is true, however it must be acknowledged that the reason why most people think of vegans as annoying scolds isn't due to some long history of interacting/arguing with them. Most members of the general public know at most 1, maybe 2 vegans. No one who isn't a terminally online poster knows what Ecofascism is. They've never heard of anarcho primitivism.
No, the reason why most people think of vegans negatively is because there has been a concerted effort on the part of the meat industry to paint vegans in a negative light. The meat industry knows that if veganism were to become more popular, it would cut into their profits, which is bad for business. So they've spent decades waging a war against vegans and veganism, trying to paint it in as bad a light as possible to make people (stupidly) go "ahjuck, vegans are stupid, I'm gonna eat more meat to spite them!"
Again, I'm not vegan. But part of being a Marxist (and honestly , just an intelligent person in general) is using critical thinking, and understanding what material incentives there are for me to believe the things I believe.
Are there annoying/bad vegans? Of course, there's annoying/bad people in every group. But classifying vegans as "that group of annoying/bad people" in your head is doing the work of the bourgeois class for them. It means they can keep producing meat and you'll keep happily buying, instead of questioning why we grow corn to feed to cows instead of just eating the corn.
......
Corn isn't a replacement for meat, dumbass. You'd starve if you tried that.
Granted, you tried to say being a Marxist means using critical thinking when I have yet to see a single Marxist who wasn't dumb as a stump, so that shouldn't surprise me.
Cows famously eat hay, not corn. Cows can't survive on corn diet.
Damn city dwellers removed so far from farm they say bullshit like that.
I'm just reminded of the story about the urban commie who was so convinced that you didn't actually need more than one horse to create more horses. And was baffled by the lack of more horses arriving... from the male horse. And got SO MAD when the Ukr farmers just laughed and pointed out you need a male horse and a female horse in order to have a foal.
"Big Meat" is not out here painting vegans in a negative light. It's vegans painting themselves in a negative light. It's vegans insisting that we should use more pleather which is just plastic and thus worse for the environment. It's vegans who are actually pretty fucking racist and ethnocentric.
(Also cows predominantly eat grasses and legumes. But they can have some corn as a treat.)
Look, I disagree with that person too, but do you guys not know that livestock in the United States is fed corn? Like, so much corn? Because the US subsidizes corn to a ridiculous extent?
Literally from the USDA's website, "Corn is a major component of livestock feed. Feed use [...] is closely related to the number of animals (cattle, hogs, and poultry) that are fed corn and typically accounts for about 40% of total domestic corn use."

When I was at the natural history museum, the fossil section had stickers on the glass to engage children - things like "Flap your arms like a pterodactyl" or "Measure your hand against the mosasaurus." However the first of these I encountered, which I found alarming and threatening without context, was a sticker reading "Struggle like you are stuck in a tar pit"
I feel like more bright colors, an exclamation mark, or a more whimsical font choice would've also helped here to indicate that it is a Fun Activity For Children. Instead it felt like getting instructed in my inevitable fate by a road sign
