I don't think interior decorators should be allowed to exist. Not because I don't think there are people who have a unique gift for curating spaces, but it just feels like lying to have someone else do that for you. I think if you're ass at decorating, I should know that when I enter a room. i would strongly disagree with that. Yes, he designed one of the most famous building ever in the international style, the world trade center, but that wasn't until well into the development and adoption of the style across the architectural world. If anything, the main motif of his career is his arches, and he used them liberally at a time when the arch was well fallen out of favor specifically because of modernist styles like the international style that were obsessed with the advantages of the kind of squared off shapes that could be achieved with steel beams, with the architectural world moving away from more traditional arches. He did a lot of really cool and interesting things with them. it's why the bottom of the WTC looked like that. The man loved an arch.

Funny that the stereotypical cynic is an idealist who aged out of it. In my experience, the reverse is true. I was an extreme cynic as a teenager and then I noticed how profoundly limiting it was, and also that "cynics are cool and smart" was a message that was being constantly reinforced by corporate media for some reason.

I also think that the present era has proven that authoritarian leaders don't actually want a population of wide-eyed idealists, they want a population of jaded assholes who are convinced that everyone is lying, any resistance is either a scam or doomed to failure, and nothing can ever get better.

And that they're somehow better than everyone else for being aware of the scam.

Seems likely. I think Q is a bit of a bully who prefers to punch down, and the Prophets are close enough to him in power that he didn't enjoy being around them or their Emissary.
