Control of TikTok in the US has just been given over to Oracle, a major tech company known for its closeness with the Trump administration. Today on Jan 22, 2026, the privacy policy and terms of service for using the app changed. You are not able to open the app unless you click “agree” on a new pop up, but they do not lay out what you are agreeing to. I took the liberty of reading the new tos and privacy policy and it is FUCKED.

I am not done reading yet but I had to make a disclaimer right now because what I have read so far is so disturbing. I will make a full update once I have finished reading it all but so far some of the biggest things that have stuck out to me are
They have a whole section about medical data they are collecting. They are collecting data from videos, comments, and private messages posted as well as IDENTIFYING THINGS IN THE BACKGROUND OF VIDEOS AND BODILY CUES that may indicate physical or mental illness
They are also using the same method of scanning videos (both posted and unposted), CAMERA ROLL, messages, and comments for a variety of things including INDICATION OF IMMIGRATION STATUS. They specifically say they are collecting “sensitive information” such as ETHNICITY, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, GENDER (they specifically mention trans and nonbinary individuals), and IMMIGRATION STATUS.
They note that not only will this information be used for marketing and analytics (meaning they will sell it to other companies), it will also be used for legal activities, most likely meaning that, as many of us feared, they will be sharing all of this readily with the government
Again, I have not read the entire document yet but I will be making a followup with screenshots once I have. However even what I have read thus far proves that TikTok is NOT SAFE to use in the US especially if you are part of a marginalized group. Please stay safe

Everyone obsesses over the fair Rhyse Sinclair, with only a select few outliers in between her and a happy ending. Edith Rigelhof is without a doubt the most prominent of those outliers.
Cliff is alright, Killian is more of a friend then a lover, but Edith is something else entirely, and she happens to be the only pick Rhyse could never marry.
Rhyse can live without that marriage, but not without mourning the woman she couldn't save with her status as the main character.

Rhyse Sinclair, the pure heroine said to possess the beauty of spring flowers, with a kind and gentle soul to match.
Edith Rigelhof, the simple-minded villainess known for her gaudy tastes and hot-headed personality.
One marries her protective male lead and lives happily ever after as a duchess, the other enters a loveless marriage with the male lead's brother only for her greed to end in her death by her husband's hand.
That's the way the story goes, and there's nothing anyone can do about it. Rhyse loves Cliff and Cliff loves Rhyse, it's a match made in heaven, crafted by a god who modeled the bride based off of everything she wished she could be and the groom based off of everything she wanted in a man. Cliff would buy Rhyse every jewel he could find with a blank check, she wouldn't have to stress herself out when he was there to take her away from reality, he would do anything to keep her by his side regardless of the danger.
But Rhyse, being the kind girl she is, would always refuse Cliff's offers to sweep her up and take her on a whimsical journey of romance whenever she could. What a perfect person she is, putting Cliff before herself.
Killian loves Rhyse as much with as much love as Edith couldn't and wouldn't dream of having. A match also made in heaven for a different reason. A pair sculpted allow Rhyse to shine as well as throwing soot on the woman resembling the critics who dared to shame the perfect couple placed above them. Killian promised to save himself for Rhyse in spite of his harlot wife, even if he couldn't have her, he would still go to war for her, he wanted nothing short of the best for the saint.
But Rhyse can only see Killian as her brother, and perhaps he knew that himself.
The men fell in love with Rhyse's beauty, the women fawned over how refreshing she was for a noble girl, and anyone who had something negative to say didn't matter in the long run... Except for the infamous face of Rigelhof, violent colored red hair to divert the spotlight to her, seductive foxlike amber eyes to hide her deception like a wolf pretending to be one's grandmother, dresses that were as expensive as they were revealing the bruises staining her body, complete with large jewelry decorated with rubies and diamonds.
The necklaces she wore matched her soul perfectly. Large, glimmering, and easy to see from afar, but the weight became a burden the longer she had to wear them.
Some could argue she was just as beautiful as Rhyse, but her rotten core couldn't compete with the breath of fresh air that was the bastard of the Sinclair family. Rhyse is only acting humble when she claims that she thinks Edith is the most beautiful woman in all the land, how could anyone look at someone like that and desire to teach them how to love and how to be loved if they weren't like the shining star of the story itself?
Only Rhyse could pour her affection out for such a vile woman, she doesn't want any marriage or kiss from her, she can't even rely on that alone to save whatever is left of Edith's hope for change, but that affection still couldn't be vanquished by death, it would always be known by someone.
Edith had an idea of such affection, but she wouldn't believe it came truly from Rhyse. The hated woman wasn't created to understand the idea that she could stray away from the path that was written for her by her creator, this was all Edith could be, a nasty and vulgar lady, forever incapable of understanding what the warmth of care felt like, that's just how the story goes.
How would Edith even marry Rhyse to begin with? It's just preposterous to her. What could that naive little bird do for her anyway? Make dolls of themselves? Enjoy the sights and sounds of nature together? Hold each other in their arms when one of them was too tired to move forward? Cozy up by the fireplace while indulging themselves on chocolate? Invade her dreams every night to gently hold her hands?
Those scenarios aren't created with Edith in mind. Rhyse's influence may be strong, but it isn't strong enough for such fantasies to become realities, it wasn't charismatic enough to steer course for Edith's reputation, and it surely isn't powerful enough to save her. Rhyse has Cliff anyway; she'll be perfectly fine in the end.
She doesn't need more poison in her life then she already suffered but she's still so willing to swallow the inevitable outcome of her affections. Loving Edith would always end in heartbreak and Rhyse still couldn't find a single reason to regret the feelings, she would keep trying, after all, the people who saved her from her own misfortune did it once, why can't they do it all over again?
Why couldn't they hear Edith out for a moment?
What could be stopping them from rescuing her from a bad fate?
How could they be blind to the colors of black and purple if they can already see the revealing choice of fashion?
When are they going to say something when Edith is put on trial alongside the remainder of the Rigelhof's?
Because that's not how the story goes. Rhyse can try to save Edith, but she isn't supposed to succeed. She is supposed to a shine brightly through her veil that hides her eyes staring up into the sky while she holds on to her bouquet with a tight grip, the only words she could choke out of her faltering smile were "I do."
"Not everyone wants to be saved" Cliff whispers during their wedding night as failed assurance. "She did this to herself, you shouldn't allow her sins to have cling on to you."
And indeed, they did not, Ediths sins didn't stick to Rhyse's conscious, only the memories of love she had built up over the years, starting from the first time she ever heard about her, to the death she wept for when she failed to save her from Killian's sword and the hand of the narrative. The sins that clung to Rhyse's back instead belonged to none other than the Rudwicks. They would do anything for their favorite person, and that determination to keep the happiness of Rhyse as priority was what killed Edith.
That's just how the story goes.

I could have made something happier than this, but what can I say? I'm a sucker for tragedies and Og Rhyse and Og Edith are the queens of doomed Yuri.
One of my head canons in not your typical reincarnation story is that the loop actually happened a few times before Rhyse becomes self-aware enough to access the space that allowed her to summon the author and the 12 other Ediths, this small fic was one of those loops Rhyse experienced before losing her memories.
I don't know how many people that follow me watch Steven Universe, but this particular ship reminds me of a character called Rhodonite. She was a minor character in show who was a fusion of two other gems, both of which had their memories erased 17 times every time they fell in love again before escaping when it was time for rejuvenation #18. So, I took that and used it as inspiration.
