Yeah--lockdowns do work. Even with Omicron. Could be done better and with more support for folks to not starve than we saw in China, and some of the horror stories about pets are really disheartening, but like--we could have applied the practical parts of the lockdown that China used and THAT WORKED and left out the dictatorial brutality of the Chinese government. That is very much within the realm of possibility for a country rich enough to waste $2 trillion on made-up magic coins.

Also this brings up a really good point I have found. If you are trying to educate a cis person (particularly if they’re also straight) about what it means to be trans, they will often get baffled because they picture suddenly choosing to adopt another gender and it seems absurd to them.

My aunt was having a really difficult time grasping what it was like to be trans, because she could not envision any circumstance in which she would want to “become a man.” I told her to instead imagine that she was the same person she is now, but had been raised as a boy against her will and treated as one throughout her life. Then everything clicked for her and she has turned out to be a great ally ever since!

People really underestimate this relationship and favor Katara’s grief over Aang so much that we never really get to see fan art of her and her brother. Ultimately, I feel like Sokka’s death had the potential to hurt her the most - especially if we consider that Aang could have died before him, and he was all she really had left. But that’s all speculative.
