You’d brought him over to your apartment for the first time and decided to change before leaving to get dinner. You left him on your bed and went to your bathroom to change. While you were gone, he took this opportunity to examine your plushies. You seemed to have a lot of them and he didn’t really mind that. What he did mind was the fact that you were probably cuddles up to them all night when it should have been him that you’re cuddling. He takes the big Tuxedo Sam you had propped up against the wall and he sets it on his lap. He gently punches it, letting out ‘she’s mine’ and ‘you won’t be here for long’ under his breath as he does so. The poor penguin has a little divot in his tummy when your boyfriend is done with it.

You come out when you were done getting ready and gasp when you see what he’s done. Your poor plushie was on his lap, looking flatter than ever. You ran over to save your plushie, causing your boyfriend to pout and cross his arms. You pick up the penguin and cradle it to your chest. “It’s gonna be okay, Mr. Sammie. I can’t believe your daddy was doing that to you?” Your boyfriend basically melts at the idea of being a ‘dad’ to your plushies. “Wait wait! I didn’t mean it. I didn’t know I was their dad!” He gets up and hugs you and your plush from behind. “Can I say sorry? Please?” You turn your head to look at him, “hmph, fine. Here, hold him well.” You pass over the oversized plushie into your boyfriend’s muscular arms, a funny image that you’d love to take a picture of. He takes a deep breath and leaves a kiss to its forehead. “I’m so sorry, little one. Dad will never do that again. You forgive dad? I was just jealous you get to cuddle with your mom every night and I don’t. I’d love to trade places with you. I think we should still be really good friends though.” He talks to the plush who stares back at him. You giggled and got on your tiptoes to kiss his cheek, “I think he forgives you. Now let’s go for dinner. Maybe if you’re good, I’ll let you replace him tonight.” Your boyfriend has never looked more excited.

it's when you strech back in your chair that you see him, immediately stopping in your tracks. "lele? why are you here? when did you get here?" you ask him, eyes looking over his expression.

he smirks again and walks closer to you placing a bag on your desk. "i know how stressed you've been so i decided to stop by," he tells you, gently runnning his hands through your hair as you look in the bag. "hopefully those cheer you up a bit."

inside the bag are some of your favorite snacks and drinks, which makes a smile creep up on your face as you look up at him. you stand up from your chair and hug him tightly, youd head resting on his shoulder.

"thank you so much baby," you tell him. "i was starting to miss you so much."

[02:47 am] the kiss tasted of cheap liquor and cigarettes. music coming from the inside of the house served as background noise, muffled by the glass door of the balcony separating you from the bustling party. chenle was a friend of a friend, you only knew him by his name, but something about the soft light reflected by the moon caressing his face and his hair flowing ever so slightly on the chilly midnight breeze (and probably the alcohol in your veins) made him look irresistible as you passed a smoke between each other a few minutes earlier, your fingers brushing in the process. now his breath felt warm on your skin as your lips moved together leisurely, one of his hands cradling your cheek while the other fiddled with the hem of your shirt, sending shivers down your spine as it made contact with the bare skin on your hip. he let out a sigh against your lips as your fingers tangled in his hair to pull him even closer, the hustle inside the house and the cold fading into insignificance as you slowly got intoxicated with the feeling of each other.

one beat. two. the words hung dry in the air for several seconds, fervently waiting for you to unhook and catch them, but you remained still.

mark did too. he seemed transfixed on the traffic below, his eyes cast on the hundreds of tiny blue and red lights that rhythmically flowed through your city like blood pumping through veins.

as the silence grew louder, your skin became warmer. you wished you could read his thoughts.

plucking out a strand of grass that stood between your crossed legs and above the rest, you spoke, “sounds clinical.”

“It is.” he was quick, as if he had been waiting with baited breath. you could hear his smile so vividly.

a breeze blew.

“Is it deadly?” there was humor in your voice, but that gasping laugh of his you were accustomed to did not follow.

mark’s shoulders only twitched. “maybe.”

when the quiet settled once more, you stretched your legs out before the steep hill you sat on and laid on the turf behind. It was only then that mark finally turned to look at you, as if he was seeking permission to do so, waiting for the standstill between the two of you to end.

you did not expect to see the sincerity that resided in his eyes.

with an inhale, your eyelids slowly closed shut, ears perked to every whistle of the wind and every honk of a distant car. “I’ll find a cure then.”

the sound of rustling could be heard until a familiar warmth nestled itself beside you. he teasingly tapped the tip of his shoe to yours, but to you it seemed more like a plea.

“no.” the slight tremor to his voice made it hard to breath. “I happen to really like having this particular obsession.” he was whispering, cool breath brushing tenderly over the curve of your ear, like sweet caresses.

cautiously, you swallowed. “even if it kills you?” It was hardly even a murmur.

mark was nodding. “even if it kills me.”
