the thing is like, the batkids give Bruce SO much shit in his own damn house. his house, his cave, with his suits and tech.
adding to this: the justice league gives Batman SO much shit while literally living and working on a satellite he built and funded entirely with his own money.
Batman is very stereotypical-dad coded. Like he works so many hours, pays for everything, and just wants things to work nicely and boom he's got a sixteen year old at home slamming the door he paid for and telling him why he sucks, and then he's got a thirty-something year old at work slamming the door he paid for and telling him why he sucks.

I think the best thing about it is that it’s just backstory. It’s not even connected to his origin story. Just a bit of trivia.
Hi @a-sour-nectarine I saw your “splain” tag and thought that might be an ask for explanation so here goes
Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow, watched his parents get mauled to death in front of him when he was no older than 10. This is an event from his life that is in no way connected to his origin story. In fact, Ollie doesn’t even blame the lions and despite having a weapon on him at the time of the mauling can’t bring himself to shoot them for doing what lions do.
Ollie’s hero origin story would exist with or without his parents’ death and covers him falling or being thrown overboard from a boat and then surviving on an island and sometimes fighting slavers that are forcing people to farm and process illicit (in the U.S.) drugs.
Ollie’s parents being mauled to death by lions is just backstory that’s just sort of there. Much like the unnamed uncle he lived with, the ex girlfriends that were murdered in front of him, and the more recent implication that he was molested as a child. All of which have just sort of been….. mentioned and then just never explored in depth. This man’s life is a goddamn nightmare.

hey guys i figured out why i kept feeling like jason's outfit was missing something.

i feel like people who are like 'bruce is wild cuz surely other kids in gotham saw their parents get murdered, he's not special' are missing the point cuz, like. Yeah. gotham is a place where crime and violence are rampant. almost certainly other children saw their parents murder, perhaps even more viscerally than bruce did. but. thats the Point.
arguably one of the longest-running themes in batman is an interplay between power and just... the desire to help other people. bruce might not be 'special' because he saw his parents die, but he's 'special' because he saw his parents die, felt (and often feels) powerless, and yet had the ability to do something about it. and yeah, he often fails but he also... doesnt, a lot. gotham may never be rid of violence (for canon and meta reasons) but, arguably, batman isn't about Results, it's about wanting to help, finding the power to try, and giving it your all even when it seems bleak and impossible. 'batman' may (often) be a male power fantasy, but i think its also... a victim's power fantasy. the fantasy of being able to say 'i was hurt, im still hurting, but im going to stop other people from getting hurt'
like thats the Point. thats Why he does what he does, in as many ways as he does it. idk why people think that that makes bruce or gotham less interesting
