“Girls are naturally more beautiful than boys”

Girls are expected, by society, to remove all their body hair, wax their moustaches and eyebrows, wear makeup, have long shiny hair, be skinny, wear pretty and “matching” clothing and by doing that they end up looking more beautiful than men who don’t do all these things. That’s it. There isn’t a biological element to it, it’s all social constructs. Nothing physically stops men from doing this as well.

There comes a time in your life when you realize that a LOT of your social interactions as a woman are heavily influenced by whether or not you are perceived as being conventionally attractive.

It’s so “fascinating” to me how some macho men tell us that we look like men in attempt to insult us. It’s like...they are aware of how unattractive they themselves are, and try to project that onto women who don’t conform to traditional femininity.

Don’t like us? Stay away and shut up, but don’t imply we’re unattractive and “no man would ever want to date us” just because you’re attracted to hyper feminized versions of women and we don’t give you that.

I’m so happy to be a revolian 😍 so “happy” that I can’t:

-go out on the street without people glaring at me, and occasionally hearing “is that a boy or a girl??!!” behind me

-get the attention of somebody of the opposite sex as easily as the other straights

-see others like me ever represented in the media

-wear the clothes that I like and do my hair how I like until I leave my parents house

-be treated as a regular individual, not somebody who is going “through a phase”.

-be seen for who I am without being mislabeled

Saying “short haired girls are ugly” isn’t making a statement about your preference. It’s a statement made solely to bring certain individuals down.

It’s one thing to say “I like long haired girls”, and it’s another thing to say “short haired girls are ugly”. The sexism and entitlement jump out when you try to bring women down for the way that they look, completely disregarding their personalities.

You know what baffles me? I don’t understand why men who find it degrading to do anything they consider to be “feminine”, are also the ones who actively demand that women be feminine.

If you think makeup is degrading you, why do you expect that women “wear a little makeup to show that they care about their appearance?”

Hello, I’m just a simple revolian and I’m here to tell you that masculinity doesn’t strictly revolve around how physically strong you are, how many girls you get, how tall you are, how well you “keep your emotions to yourself”.

Masculinity can also mean being sensitive, being attentive, loving fashion, having long badass hair, being brave enough to open up to others about your feelings and not give into the pressure of being “macho” just because “that’s how a man should be”.

Gender nonconforming straight people (revolians) exist, but they often have their identity dismissed as just a phase they might grow out of- but it’s time this changed.

The media should stop pressuring straight women to be “feminine” and straight men to be “masculine”, just because of their sexuality.

Let people be themselves; gender nonconformity is such a beautiful concept and it’s hardly taken seriously by the mainstream media.

I think it’s time straight people are taught that they don’t need to conform to gender roles/gender stereotypes in order to be considered “straight”. You can be as gender nonconforming as you please and your sexuality is still valid.

Revolians are beautiful and they shouldn’t be told they’re “irrelevant exceptions” just because they are gender nonconforming and heterosexual.
