Just watched the new Avatar: Seven Havens trailer and us Korra fans must defend our girl. She's innocent! She is clearly innocent and being framed!
When I first heard about the plot I was confused why the writers would write Korra like this, even if she was being framed considering the hate against her but then I realized… maybe that’s the point? Maybe the writers wanted to be meta and call out Korra haters by making it seem like she’s a villain only for more information to come so they’d realize she’s innocent and a good Avatar actually?
There is no good reason for me to extensively write about a character that I do not like. My reasons are petty.
One day Ms purplemninja asked me this one thing that would be the catalyst for this literature. She had asked me, "Is it okay that I hate Titan?", and I didn't respond right away because I was confused. I would have said that it's definitely fine for anyone to have any feelings towards a fictional character. Our feelings are opinions and not ruled by facts. Also, a negative opinion can't even hurt Titan's feelings because he's not actually a sentient celestial being, he's a cartoon character. The main reason I felt puzzled by the question was because during the time, it seemed like the opinion on Titan was divided in the fandom. There was loud belief that liking Titan was the worst thing a person could do and vice versa. It had interest me that a character like Titan could cause fans to inherently believe that they have an objectively right opinion.
This is screenshot that Ms purplemninja sent me when they asked if it was okay to hate Titan. But does Titan deserves hate and should fans feel bad for hating him? Well, I hate him and feel okay about it. But what about other fans.
It's been over a year since, so her opinion could've changed by now, but Ms purplemninja said to that she hates Titan. What he did to Astrodude and not apologizing for almost causing the death of all life on Earth, those were said to be some of her reasons for why she doesn't like him. She said that his lack of remorse for his actions bothered her. She recognized that Ganymede and Europa had influence his decision to start a revolution but believed Titan is still considerably responsible for his own choices. She doesn't see the redemption for his actions. Also, Ms purplemninja was suspicious of what he possibly did to the hypothetical lost moon, Chrysalis. I interpreted that she doesn't have faith in the character.
The polarizing opinions on Titan both fascinated me and also irritated me. That is why I decided to get some data and immediately I thought I should get more insight of the topic.
Out of 59 votes 66.1 shows people don't hate him. That is like 39 people though (thank you for voting). Getting the opinion from everyone in the solarballs fandom is not feasible; for me. It did seem like that not everyone hated Titan but there was still distain for his character amongst the chaos. I'd say it doesn't damage an actual person integrity if they don't like a fictional character. I believe that the internet may have exaggerated the situation. Depending on who you asked, the answer of Titan's likeability varies.
Ms toonjazzy had responded in an Ask blog that she hated him, but affectionately. At first her feelings for the character were negative from what she said. Then she describes having this back and forth from sympathy to frustration. I believe she made it clear in her response that she wishes Titan apologized to Earth about the revolution. And she wants to see more interactions with those two.
What Ms rglozwriter responded with when asked if she liked Titan, she thinks Titan is mediocre. In her opinion, something she seems to be disappointed with is that Titan isn’t utilized more for having life. She claims they did nothing with that plot device, that Titan didn’t seem to care he had life at all. What she believes is that Earth would probably have been more thrilled when he was at Titans stage of life forms.
Mx azmau had responded to an ask about their thoughts on Titan. They said they liked his character, but they think he could do more. They wished he did more past the Moon Club arc. Also, they wanted Titan to take some accountability for the moon revolution, not just Ganymede and Europa.
Mixed opinions all around, but they tend to have one common denominator. Titan needs more time to be flushed out. I personally don't like Titan and find his absence to be a relief, but I can understand the disappointment of this once prevalent character being demoted to a cardboard cutout past the Planet vs. Moon trials. I've seen comments saying that Titan's character resolved was done hastily and Titan's drop-off seemed to perplex a sum of viewers.
After the Theia arc, I decided to dedicate my free time to thoroughly looking into Titan. Mainly only Titan. I hope that an overly redundant and long deep dive into Titan’s character would not only help me understand this washed character, but also maybe connect the fandom to seeing Titan as he is. I believe the mixed feelings may be because misunderstandings of Titan's character. The series is so long and it's probably not fun to keep track of one pacific character has done throughout. That's why, I'll be nit-picking and digesting everything about Titan. Then I could regurgitate it back for anyone to read. know that I'm bias so please take everything with a pound of salt. Perhaps while reading (if you haven't left mid-way) you can keep a note and express your thoughts in the comments or your own platform. Breaking Down Titan
Someting is hiding in the Asteroid Belt
Titan's existence was indirectly mentioned by Jupiter in “Something's hiding in the Asteroid Belt…” When Jupiter was info-dumping on Mars about there being more Ceres-like beings hiding in the belt, he had mentioned in passing that there are planet-sized moons. That consists of a handful of moons, which includes Titan. In that case, it could be argued that Jupiter also indirectly acknowledges that moons can be like a planet. It is hypocritical that the moons are belittled by planets but can be simultaneously acknowledged to share a significant trait. If it weren't for the tidbit that a few moons are only bigger than Mercury and dwarf planets. Jupiter hasn't talked to Pluto much since his demotion, and based on what Pluto's arc was about, Pluto was secluded. Saturn had called Mercury a planetoid after Jupiter confirmed he was, indeed, a planet. He didn't correct Saturn on his “planetoid” comment, but he did stop Saturn from telling Mercury he's shrinking. If Jupiter may acknowledge there are moons the size of planets, it doesn't necessarily mean they are viewed that much differently because of it. The size between planet-like moons and Mercury might as well be nonexistent to the colossal gassy planets. The difference between the moons and planets is Jupiter's secret obligation to the rocky planets. Jupiter had said that the first generation of rocky planets were small and feeble. After the grand tack the remaining rockies are said to be anomaly small compared to other solar systems. So technically nearly all the rocky celestials could all be equally small to Jupiter. The rocky planets just have the gas giants' attention because of an everlasting guilt that has Jupiter forever in their debt. So, in a sense, as long as a moon isn't a rocky planet or another gas giant, those planet-like moons are treated about the same as a dwarf planet to Jupiter. Which isn't giving them much credit. Luckily some of those planet-size moons are big and close enough to Jupiter to be acknowledged as barely noticeable. Overall, the whole misfortune with the moons is not knowing the context why the gas giants appear to be in favor of the planets. The Grand Tack could have strained the moon and planet dynamic more than it should. That much could be speculated about Jupiter, and the big guy is a trndsttr. So, he may had inadvertently impacted how the other gassy planets treat their respective moons.
The Moons of Saturn
Titan's first proper introduction is in "The Moons of Saturn". At the start of that episode, Saturn sweetly greeted his moons as “my beautiful moons,” then he called a few of them by the wrong names. After butchering a few of his moons' names, he had noticed Titan wasn't present and frantically started to call for him. The moon Dione made a sarcastic remark that Titan's name is somehow the only one Saturn remembers correctly. The implication here is that Titan is somebody that Saturn is more attentive about than any of his other moons. The moons of Saturn are painfully aware that Titan is favored by their planet, and even Mars knows that Titan is Saturn's favorite moon. Mars isn't even Saturn's neighbor. Somehow, Mars managed to observe that Saturn also has a nickname for him, his "Middle Earth". It's funny that Saturn has another name for Titan, but he has trouble remembering his other moons. Saturn's moons do pronounce their names correctly for him, but he is subconsciously obtuse to his moons' simple reminders. Going on deaf ears would make them feel trivial, as Titans would later put it. I would say that Saturn calling Titan by his name and giving him an additional one means he's twice as loved as the others. Unfortunately, Saturn doesn't call any of the other ones by their correct names. Abide by the rules of multiplication anything multiplied by zero is still zero. A bare minimum would be for their planet to, at the very least, know their names. When the moons are acutely aware of his favoritism for Titan, Saturn forgetting something as little as their names inclines them to believe they don’t matter to their planet. Calling them his beautiful moons would be demeaning, no matter the degree of how genuine Saturn truly believes he's being. Forgetting their names insinuates to the moons they're just pretty things to him, that he doesn't care to know who they are. It could be to the moons, only Titan is worth their planet's recognition. This bias probably caused the moons to feel bitter towards Saturn and their fellow moon, Titan. In the Olive Garden Bible (I pronounce it bib-ble) by Sarahcha3374 on the Solarballs discord, Sarah says, “Titan's relationship with his fellow moons is unfortunately strained due to him being put on this unnecessary and unwanted pedestal”. So, I am not alone when speculating the estranged dynamic between the residents of Saturn, Titan, and their planet. The moons are noticeably envious of Titan, and Titan is aware that he is favored by Saturn. Titan believes that none of the moons of Saturn like him, and his planet treats him like a prize amongst the others. That tension between the moons and his planet's doting, no wonder why Titan would go watch the Earth and the Moon instead of staying home.
When we see Titan for the first time (timestamp 0:27 The Moons of Saturn), he is seen outside the asteroid belt, spying on Earth and Luna. When Saturn found him, he then asked where he'd been. What Titan said wasn't completely truthful. I think Titan may not be comfortable with disclosing his interest to Saturn. As Titan had stuttered out in response to Saturn's question, "j-just gazing at the stars". Inconspicuous choice of words, as they're in space. But with Earth and Luna in frame and Titan's tone and expression, it's apparent that they are the "stars" he was actually looking at. The connotations with stars are typically associated with admiration, wishing, faraway celestial beings, and celebrities. This is a double meaning with Titan's viewing of Earth as an idol of sorts, and Earth being a literal out of reach celestial being. In later episodes, it's acknowledged by other characters that he's a big fan of Earth. It is suspected that Titan has been going off to watch Earth from afar more than once, similar to an adoring fan or stalker. It can be easily observed by almost everyone that Titan is an admirer of Earth, and it's probably not his first time “gazing at the stars”. Despite Titan obviously watching the Earth, he doesn't explicitly tell Saturn what he's looking at. Fortunately for him, Saturn doesn't seem to notice his interest in Earth anyways. He got an answer and asked Titan to come back because he was gathering all his moons to inform them about something. Titan returns one more glance to the Earth and the moon and then follows behind his planet.
With all his moons gathered, Saturn began his confession about the presumed origins of his rings. Redundantly introducing himself to all his moons and all his moons vocalize in jaded unison, “we know who you are”. They're not strangers. They orbit around him; they don't need the reminder of who their own planet is. That introduction was probably because he isn't very acquainted with his moons and forgot it wasn't mutual. Sorta a rough start for Saturn and it was gonna get rougher given what he had to say. He said it was awkward to admit and confess that his “beautiful rings” came from the corpses of old moons. All the moons were shocked or perplexed at the news, and even Titan seemed to be hit with confusion. He averted his gaze and asked, “Why is he telling us this?”. Titan's question could be interpreted as a state of caution about the point of bringing this to recognition. Maybe he's trying to understand the possible intention of his planet to drop such baffling information. Titan then moved his attention back to Saturn to see what else he had to say.
Saturn quickly swore to them he wasn't aware that his rings came from old, dead moons. Considering their planet and moons' relationship, those words probably have no closure. By what I mean by that, let's do a quick recap of what had just happened. Saturn started that conversation with a needless introduction, then signified to his rings as beautiful, only to tell the moons they were made from the unsuspecting victims of previous moons. I don't think it's a very good condolence to say that he wasn't aware of what was happening. He doesn't remember all his moons' names and just said he didn't know he accidentally murdered some of them. Honestly, a better reassurance would've been to tell them it’s just a theory. An astronomy theory. But Saturn left out that small bit because he cut off Astrodude before he could explain that part. Running away and sorrowfully believing what Astrodude said was true. Now the moons might think that because of their planet's negligence, old moons ended up dead. To pile on the situation, the information came to their planet's knowledge recently. That means these presumed past-tense moons have been missing for a while. It could be assumed that nobody, not even Saturn, had noticed their absence either. That could've been almost any moon in that position. Where their planet accidentally turned them into moon dust, and their corpse was flaunted for the whole solar system to see. Gone and missing without anyone realizing for years.

In Saturn's attempt to lessen the pressure on the situation, he told them how he couldn't help being a giant and not noticing when they got by him. We can see that Titan was a little bit annoyed when he said that. He might've not liked that Saturn's apology was soured by the excuse that he was too big to notice he killed moons. Despite the supposed moonslaughter, Saturn asked for forgiveness. He claimed that he believed in second chances (that record checks out as he kept Jupiter's secrets for years) and wanted their forgiveness. He made a promise, they could all get along and he wouldn't destroy them all. The moon Enceladus took what Saturn said as a threat. How he, and probably the other moons, interpreted what Saturn asked was something more akin to an offer. They either forgive him or perish. When Saturn tried to clear up the misunderstanding, he called Enceladus by the wrong name. Unintentionally instigating more of a negative reaction from the moon. Ironically, in Saturn's attempt to reassure his moons that he cares about their well-being, he unintentionally indicates how little they mean to him, literally and figuratively.
The reason the conversation didn't escalate is that Titan stepped in to stop it. Titan looked at the scene at play, then closed his eyes and took a second. From that back and forth between the moon and the planet, Titan has halted the other moons from confronting Saturn. I'm not sure why he looks to brace himself before stopping them. Maybe he needed solace before preventing the discussion further. Wanting the argument to be over as fast as it could, neutralizing a situation he may be familiar with. Even if he looks unsavory to his peers and loses sympathy and guilt, Saturn might’ve felt about accidentally harming the moons. Titan turned into a barrier between Saturn's blissfulness and the moon's anger towards their planet and him. This makes me wonder if Titan is protecting the peace for the sake of Saturn, himself, or the other moons. It could be all of the above.
Although Titan seemed a little worn and reluctant, on behalf of all the Saturnian moons, he had forgiven Saturn. He had spoken for everyone as Saturn would probably see it. Even though the moons of Saturn are not cool about the situation. Unfortunately for them, Saturn doesn't seem to notice and accepts Titan's forgiveness. He tells Titan he's the best, and as if they are an additional thought, so are the rest of the moons. Saturn then leaves with a lighter consciousness, but the moons are still upset. Even if the other moons didn't forgive their planet, Titan's words are enough to speak for all of them. They don't get a chance to state their thoughts or feelings about the new lingering issue they have with Saturn. Because Titan is the only one Saturn listens to, and he forgave him for them. That action had redirected the moons’ frustrations onto him, and they were pretty peeved. Enceladus insinuated that Titan easily forgave Saturn because he is the favorite. Possibly implying that he thinks Titan was kissing up due to his special treatment. Sure, Titan is favored, but he doesn't like being treated differently. Both from his planet and the other moons. A hint that Titan wants to fit in with his commoonity, but is botching it, is using “we” when he said, “of course we forgive you Saturn”. Using “we” again in “we're just moons” to defend his reasoning for his forgiveness. This comes across as Titan using his kinship as a way to put everyone down. But the moons of Saturn know Titan is valued more than anyone in Saturn's orbit. Titan bailing on the bunch in favor of consoling Saturn excludes him further from the others. They feel invisible and denied, as Titan overshadows them. But still, it must be nice to have Saturn's attention. They envy that Titan is adored when everyone else is ignored. From the moons’ perspective, Titan is willing to be lenient towards Saturn because he has what no other moon has, and that would be Saturn's love and attention. Due to Titan's inability to confront Saturn, it had damaged the fragile relationship with the ones he was supposed to be more akin to. This is a long-winded way to say that Titan isn't happy about the favoritism he receives but he puts himself in an uncouth position with the other moons.
In Titan's defense, he only forgave Saturn because he believed they couldn't do anything because they were just moons. Now, what does being a moon have to do with not confronting their planet for his accusations? Probably size and orbit. The size of a celestial body seems to be important for its social ranking for Saturn's orbit. A greater size means a better chance of being seen. Therefore, there is a better chance their planet would remember them. Presumably, Titan is favored because he's the biggest Saturnian moon. As it seems Saturn's biggest moon, he gets to be called by the correct name. His other major moons don't get that luxury, they are hardly noticed and their names get butchered. Though it could get worse, getting called by the wrong name is better than being called 'everyone else. That’s just impersonal, demeaning, and shows how Saturn truly doesn't know everyone orbiting him. No matter, Saturn thinks all his moons are small to him. Titan is just his favorite small thing. They are all undermined, including Titan. Their irrelevance got even worse when, out of the blue, Saturn confessed to committing moonslaughter. The moons had to reconcile how colossal their planet actually is and how to live with the fact he can just kill them without realizing it. A planet can be a towering presence, and confronting the larger celestial body that can destroy them could be terrifying. However, the threat of Saturn going out of his way to hurt them for not being complacent is out of character. With Saturn, the worst that can happen is if the giant forgets them completely. The fear of being turned into rings might’ve lingered, but the moons seem more pissed than afraid. During Saturn's apology, he claims that his crimes against moonanity were an accident, because he's a colossal planet and they're his tiny moons. Ironically, he is deaf to how he's belittling his moons even more. It sounds like he's admitting he thinks his moons are so minuscule that they are barely noticeable enough for their planet to acknowledge when he'd accidentally caused their deaths. Indubitably, celestial bodies can easily consume a smaller being, especially if they can barely feel their mass due to their colossal size and accidentally crush them. The odds of turning into rings could decrease if their planet was more cautious about the little beings in his space. However, Saturn is a forgetful planet. He could forget to look out for moons orbiting and accidentally crush them again. Saturn didn't even know 98.78% (when Saturn's moon count was at 82) of his moons’ names. How could he promise that he won't destroy them all, if he doesn't know most of them, and they are barely visible to him? Saturn's isn't malicious but his negligence and belittling is dangerous. Even in regard to Saturn's willingness to make amends I see no sense why his moons would accept his offer, except for Titan who did forgive him. He let Saturn off the hook, and the planet was instantly relieved. He left without much thought, as if he couldn't tell how much of a big deal the situation was. Size does matter, and it could give them recognition or death.
The moons feel a bit neglected (and they are) by their planet, but they are also under the impression that they are dependent on him. Titan may also have an irrational fear of what Saturn may do if they speak up. An overwhelming size difference is one thing, but exposure to deep dark space without a gravitational anchor is another. For example, the Sun has threatened to leave because Earth didn't know the fundamentals of what he does. Then the Earth had to be peer pressured to apologize so the Sun wouldn't eject them into darkness. Presumably, celestial bodies must feel a sense of comfort and stability as they orbit another celestial body. Planet X had mentioned that when he was ejected, he lost his home and it took years to accelerate. Getting booted off the orbit would probably be core crushing. An orbit is a home that probably took years to clear and find an equilibrium. But even if a moon chose to leave the planet they grew accustomed to, they would probably just try to find another planet to orbit. Just like when Luna left Earth to orbit Mars, because he wanted to prove a point. (Luna is like half the size of Mars, so they would’ve technically been a double planet.) Orbiting another planet over a star is probably because a moon is more familiar with that dynamic. However, a moon could end up in the same situation as before or worse when orbiting any celestial body. They could camp out in an asteroid belt and become a dwarf planet or go rogue. Which, without a companion, would subject them to isolation and risk going completely mad. The moons may not be in an ideal situation with their planet, but their options aren't very fun.
It could be Titan's presumption that to some extent confronting Saturn would be pointless. It is possible he thinks Saturn will eventually forget and move on from the situation anyways. The promise Saturn made to never destroy them all and they could all get along was something that Titan didn't even believe was a promise Saturn could keep. His planet's memory isn't very promising; It's just easier for the moment if Saturn believed he was forgiven.
The excuse Titan made for forgiving Saturn was because they were " just moons”. It can be insinuated what he meant by that was it'd be futile to criticize Saturn because they have little input as his moons as is. Dione had shot back, "Only because we orbit Saturn.” They are defeated, and they are disappointed in Titan. The rest of the Saturnian moons feel indifferent about Titan after that ordeal, so they leave him alone. Titan was all by himself, he possibly began to contemplate Dione's words and everything that happened in the last two minutes and twenty seconds. His planet just confessed to the Saturnian moons that his rings are made from their remains. Claiming it was an accident because they are too small to even notice he'd hurt them. Dione made a point that if they weren't orbiting Saturn they wouldn't be moons. Said probably with just the intent to jab at Titan, he did ponder what she had spat at him. A simple rule about what a celestial body orbit is what defined them as moons, planets, asteroids, etcetera. He must've reevaluated his perception about how he let Saturn off without the moons’ approval. Too bad nobody at home wants to be around him, or he doesn't feel open enough to talk. What a loser. Where else can Titan go about his epiphany? But then he is shown staring at the stars of his parasocial relationship before the video ends.
Titan is the second biggest moon in the solar system, and size means having recognition. Although Titan gives the impression that he doesn't want size to be a contributor to status. Having Earth-like traits probably gives him more recognition anyway. Titan's geographical features resemble the most popular planet. He's rocking an atmosphere, spherical shape, interesting geography, such as liquids on his surface. Even if he knew at the time or not, he's bigger than Mercury and Pluto, feeding the idea that size shouldn't matter. Being comparable to the planets should be enough to prove that moons should be viewed equally to them. Titan is a moon because he orbits Saturn, otherwise, he could be a planet. But because of his classification, he's more like an extraordinary possession than a person. Titan or any moon hasn't actually been looked at with respect. Titan is probably uncomfortable about expressing his interest or thoughts with his planet because he is intimidated by his status as the second biggest planet in the solar system. That could be why he doesn't oppose his affection or challenge him. Saturn isn't cruel and is rather nice, but Titan probably doesn't want to test those boundaries. His actions were made to keep the stakes low with his planet. But after what Dione said, it shines a light on the fact that, if size wasn't involved, the only other thing dividing them is what they orbit. It's the summit that got Titan wanting to meet Earth in person. Somebody he has been watching from afar for who knows how long. What Titan saw was the potential to have clarity.
The moon meets Titan
Sneaking away from Saturn's orbit, Titan decided to meet the Earth’s moon. When Titan met Luna for the first time, Luna mistook Titan for a planet and was surprised that he was actually a moon. Pointing out features about him that he associates with planets. But to be fair, when Luna met Phobos and Deimos, he thought they weren't moons either. Titan tried to be modest about being called bigger than Mercury and Pluto, till Luna got dangerously close to stare at his atmosphere. Making Titan feel a little uncomfortable as Luna was being quite intense. I think the narrative intention why Luna got overzealous when observing Titan is to emphasize just how astonishing he was to him, and less importantly Luna's projection to be a part of the other rocky planets. The moon is somebody who probably has little exposure to other moons and was amaze by how a moon could share some aspects he's only seen prevalent in planets. After Luna settled down, he asked why Titan was there. Titan tells Luna that he wanted to meet him because he's “Earth’s moon”. Probably getting called “Earth’s moon” and not the Moon or Luna, he assumed that Titan actually had an interest in Earth. Titan remarks that he is indeed interested in the Earth. He even gushes to Luna about Earth's stability to sustain life and having liquid water. Bro is glazing Earth before actually having a conversation with the dude. He's not even listening to Luna as he tells him that Earth is special, but so is everyone. Titan actually cuts Luna off before he could share his opinion about how everyone is unique. He interrupted Luna by asking if he could introduce him to Earth. Getting straight to the point and pleading to Luna. It was as if he felt like he needed to get the attention of someone more approachable to have a conversation with Earth. Like if Earth is some sort of celebrity or a star that he needs to set up a greeting with. Placing the Earth on a pedestal and wishing to be acquainted. Before giving his answer, Luna asked Titan if Saturn would notice his absence. Being the only moon to his planet, and with a crucial role at that, Luna is probably checking if Titan can leave his planet unattended before he can make a decision. Titan reassures Luna that Saturn has many moons and wouldn't notice he's gone for a while. It can be assumed by the audience that Titan truthfully has a window of time to spare. When he made that statement, it actually shows that Saturn is blissfully sitting in his orbit with his moons surrounding him. But Luna just took his words for it and said he'll try to introduce him. As soon as Titan got an answer, he contentedly closed their conversation. He told the Earth’s moon he's the best and they'll keep in contact, as he nonchalantly flew off. Like if the Earth's moon was an additional thought to getting to his initial goal. Not even sticking around to chat with the Earth’s moon. The Earth’s moon wondered if Titan was really a moon once he left. Probably astonished by how alike in features and behavior he is to a planet. Again, it's strange that Titan called him Earth’s moon and not his Moon or Luna. Was Titan even paying attention to the earth's moon or just Earth the entire time?
Plain as day, Titan is an Earth fan boy. What could be assumed after the ordeal with Saturn and the moons, he wanted to meet Earth for some reason. Speaking to the moon was to get closer to the planet he had admired from a faraway distance. His perspective must've changed when Dione gave him the revelation that they were moons because he orbits Saturn. There had to have been something that made Titan want to reach out to Earth. With later context it could be assumed it was Titan’s chance to finally meet the being who houses all known life in the solar system. He can live out whatever fantasy he'd concocted in his mind. Probably wanting to get validation that planets and moons aren't that different. By getting the approval of his idol, somebody Titan looks up to and aspires to have the same recognition as him. Possibly fabricating the Golden boy of the solar system could, somehow, endorse that he is more than a mediator for his planet and the other moons. To finally be seen as an actual person rather than a pretty gas accessory. Proving that planets and moons aren't that different by using himself as evidence. Ironically, his approach to this is off on a bad start. In attempting to show that moons and planets aren’t that different, Titan sought the recognition of somebody he’d idolize. Dismissive of Luna's advice about how everyone is unique and denied the Saturnian moons laying in on Saturn. Titan, seeking external validation, placed himself beneath the Planet he wanted to impress. He views this starring figure as the solution to his peers' problems but ignoring their advice. Titan made himself the one who would break the glass ceiling between the two ranks. Yet he's subconsciously following the systematic beliefs he wants to break away from. Unaware of the issue instilled within. Sadly, because of his mindset, Titan had set himself up for disappointment when he met Earth. The interaction was destined to corrupt the internalized insecurities and tuxiphobia he has.
The next time we see Titan is in “The Truth about Titan”, and Luna is smuggling him to meet Earth. Luna tried to get the Earth’s attention while he was playing cards with Mars. His response to Luna was, “Moon, you know what I’ve said about interrupting my card games?” Luna acknowledged Earth’s comment and apologized but went ahead to introduce Titan. It can be understood that Luna isn't allowed to talk to Earth while playing games. So luckily for them, Luna picked the right moment to distract him. Not really, moonshine just so happens to be a phenomenon that Earth was more interested in than playing. Catching Earth's attention was a green planet-like being next to Luna. In a polite and excited tone, Titan addressed Earth as “Mr. Earth” and said he was honored to meet him. His first greeting with Earth was enthusiastically courteous. More enthusiastic and courteous than his first meeting with Luna anyway. Cordially gesturing his respect in the presence of the planet, but before a starstruck Titan could babble about the reason he wanted to meet him, the planet interrupted him. Earth had asked in amazement if he was a new planet. Taken a little aback, Titan questioned why everyone assumes he's a planet. At this point in his existence, Titan might be used to being compared to Earth on a superficial level but not used to being addressed as anything other than a moon. He seems a little confused about that assumption, but he happily corrects Earth by introducing who he really is. Titan's identity as a moon isn't something he seems to be ashamed of but possibly feels like he should be due to circumstances. Maybe the true reason he was there was because he believed by talking to Earth he could subside those insecurities.

The truth about Titan
Mars happened to recognize Titan, referring to him as Saturn's favorite moon. He then remembered Saturn has called Titan as “his Middle Earth.” Assuming that Mars is correct on his account, that could mean Saturn calls Titan “my Middle Earth”. 'His’ and 'my' are possessive pronouns. Knowing Saturn, calling Titan ‘his’ or 'my' is meant as endearment for their bond as planet and moon, despite the slight condescension. If Mars is correct, the name was given because Titan’s mountains are named after the Lord of the Rings. Doom mons for example is named after Mount Doom. In Mr J.R.R. Tolkien's world Middle-Earth is based on a once familiar world. Saturn calling him by that nickname could also be because Titan is a familiar world to the Earth. The similarities are pretty cool, although Titan isn't as lively as Earthy boy. Saturn referring to him that nickname could convey Saturn's inadvertent condescension in regarding Titan only as a semblance to a deeply beloved planet. More accurately, Titan's kinship would be closer to Saturn's precious rings rather than the planets' golden boy. What I'm proposing is that despite the nickname’s initial endearment, the name also parallels Titan and Saturn's insincere relationship. The features on Titan are impressive for a moon, but he's not in the same class as the planet he’s referenced to. We can assume that any of the rocky planets has the one up when it comes to Saturn's regards. As a moon, Titan's resemblance to Earth is simply cute in the eyes of Saturn dearest. Other than being a moon Titan is rather minuscule in comparison to the lively rocky planet in many ways. Whatever traits they have in commoon are contrasted by the elements that make up their entirety. Such as, Earth’s lava volcanoes contrasting with Titan’s ice volcanoes. Titan's atmosphere is 50% denser than Earth. That atmosphere is mostly nitrogen with more than 5% methane. Earth's atmosphere is also mostly nitrogen, but there's more than 20% oxygen with other gasses floating around. Like Earth, Titan has liquids on his surface. The difference being the liquids on Titan are made of methane and ethane, they aren’t made of H2O. Aside from physical aspects, Titan's personality doesn't seem that much like Earthy. I'm not even sure Saturn even knows Titan's genuine personality to honestly compare the two. Like I pointed out earlier, Saturn didn't notice Titan's interest in the terrestrial planet when he went to find him, and Titan is reserved with his planet when it comes to his interest. In total, I wouldn't bet that Saturn calls him Middle-Earth because he knows he is an Earth fanboy or he thinks he acts like Earth. Still, it must be impressive that a moon can, sort of, be like Earth to warrant a nickname based on him. Or maybe Saturn calls him that because he’s a fan of The Lord of The Rings and thought it was neat. Titan’s aspects are similar to the Earth and that is recognized by his planet, via a pet name. Something Titan probably hasn’t dug deeper into the meaning as to why he is referred to as Middle Earth, other than knowing it has something to do with Earth. With all consideration, he is just Saturn's cute little Earth-like moon and doesn't seem to be recognized beyond that, regardless of his planet-like assets.
In a spike of anxiety, Earth asked the question about the idea for that nickname. Mars casually explained that Titan's mountains are named after The Lord of the Rings, briefly soothing Earth. Then he instantly rekindles Earth’s insecurity by further explaining Titan’s wicked cool geology. Earth then became more anxious that another can be like him, and a moon no less. Mars, unbothered by Earth’s panic. He continues describing Titan's features, such as ice volcanoes. The Earth’s moon comets about how ice volcanoes are cooler than lava volcanoes. Earth was becoming indignant and tried to debase Mars’ and his moon’s praise by arrogantly bringing up having water. Mars calmly countered that Titan does indeed have underground oceans and was about to say something may exist deep below. Titan's expression widened upon hearing the potential prospect Mars had interjected. Completely at awe before Mars even drops the news that life may possibly exist within those oceans. Having liquid water and sustaining life were the two things he admitted to admired about Earth when he met Luna. The extreme lore drop was absolutely blowing his mind. Titan might’ve never bothered to learn more about his own geology beyond surface levels. Then Mars says that he has something in commoon with his idol. Abruptly coming to rain on his parade, Earth made a desperate attempt to shoot down the mere idea that a moon could have life. Exclaiming Titan is “just a moon.” and that they “are nothing alike.” Titan is just a moon and that isn't up for debate. Not that there is anything wrong with that. However, Mars just gave examples on how Earth and Titan are alike, so Earth is in denial about Titan's wicked cool geology. Earth also discouraged bringing up that a moon could be anything more than what they're classified as. When he said, “Keep saying silly things like that and you'll make them think they can become planets like us”, he's insinuating a planet is a higher tier than a moon and planets shouldn't try to encourage the idea they could be more. Yikes. In the comment section for “The truth about Titan…” commenter ApolloXI said, “That Earth didn't hear his own words”. What ApolloXI was referring to is the hypocrisy of what Earth said. Earth had assumed Titan was a planet on first impression but changed his mind because he felt threatened. Earth is saying all of this out of fear and insecurity that a moon can possibly achieve something grand. Just how Earth treats his own moon (a crucial part of supporting life), he probably doesn't have high respect for any moon. So, when Titan (a moon) came along with the potential to rival that belief Earth became insecure. Really making it apparent by saying “Moons should know their place”. Prejudice jargon was spoken, and that would be hard to bounce back from. This entire interaction really hit Titan hard, especially what he went through to meet him. Titan snuck away from his planet to meet Earth’s moon, and he was insulted by the very planet he watched for who knows how long. It's not surprising that Titan was disappointed to anybody that's not Titan. What Earth had said confirmed Titan's insecurities about planets and his place in the solar system. Sure, Titan may be recognized for looking like a planet, but the planets aren't gonna treat him beyond a moon. The one way that can possibly grant him dignity is to have life. At least that is the impression that Titan got from Earth’s outlash.
In the insecure ramble Earth was spewing, it could be interpreted that he wanted Mars to believe a moon can't have life. Since a moon can't have life they can't be like a planet. Titan, could've internalized the interaction and wanted to challenge that. Mars had said that there was a possibility that life could exist in his underground oceans. All he needed was someone to go and check.
Mission to Titan (part 1)
Now Titan is treading some risky waters. Titan should've been gone from his orbit for enough time for Saturn to notice. Sure enough, Saturn is frantically looking for him as seen in a cutaway with Saturn worriedly looking around his moons for Titan. However, Titan doesn't want to return to Saturn yet. It's inevitable, but before Titan returns he wanted to know if there was a chance that he could be infested with life. It could be his golden ticket to possibly get basic respect. To be treated with the same regards as the Earth himself. He also could've wanted to rub it in Earth’s face that he wasn't the only one with life. So, he hid in the Asteroid Belt till an unlucky Earthling came wandering in for unknown reasons. Seriously, it is not explained why Astrodude went inside the belt. Why and when did he even leave Mars? Whatever. Continuing the trend for being mistaken as a planet, when Titan found Astrodude he mistaken him as a dwarf planet. Astrodude was still getting used to the talking planets and was under the impression that they only asked him questions and let him be. So, when he agreed to help Titan, he wasn't expecting something so grand. Titan had Astrodude promised to look for life in his pitch-dark underground oceans. This is a desperate demand. He knew it was a big ask for such a small being. He even admitted to the Earthling that it was a big favor before saying what he wanted from him. Maybe that's why he made Astrodude promise to help him before elaborating what he wanted him to do first. Deep down he does understand Astrodude's uneasiness about the favor. That Astrodude is a tiny and fragile thing, and he could get seriously hurt by nearly everything in space. Unfortunately, Titan took advantage of that, as he used his size to intimidate him into going through with it. Ignoring Astrodude's excuses and blocking all ways to leave. Towering over the earthling as he gave him the impression he had no choice. He would try to mask it as Astrodude's decision to help, however aside from plot armor, Astrodude is just any other tiny feeble earthling, and Titan understands of the position power he has over him. Even if Titan would have let Astrodude go if he explicitly said "no" he made Astrodude aware of the possible implications if he didn't. What Titan did was very manipulative. The whole situation reeks of irony, Titan felt small and helpless, so he forced someone small and helpless to give him hope to not feel so small and helpless.
Mission to Titan ( part 2)
What's crazy is that Titan had the audacity to thank Astrodude for helping him look for life. Astrodude said it was no problem, but underneath his breath Astrodude obviously has a problem being forced by a planet to explore uncharted waters. Titan heard the comet and bluntly corrected Astrodude that he was a moon. Titan is clarifying that despite the impression he isn't some big opposing planet, but it's a moon he is “helping”. He didn't say anything about the part where he is forcing him to do this. It'd be hard to deny he wasn't. Even though he wants to be treated the same as a planet, he wants to be recognized as a moon. He just doesn't want to be belittled because of his classification. He understands Astrodude's frustration with the situation, but Titan also has faith in the potential of a small thing. Thanks to Astrodude's help they will prove there's more a moon can do; like threatening violence against anyone who tries to back out of promises. Although Titan knows he's crossing a line by not giving Astrodude the ability to back out. He is aware of Astrodude's vulnerability to everything outside of his planet, size is one of them and he can relate. Unfortunately, he uses his size to intimidate Astrodude, and Astrodude can't fight back. Titan could have subconsciously convinced himself that no matter how small an individual may be, they still can have a great impact. He's just ignoring their limits and boundaries. For the earthling's clarification it is not a big planet making him do this, it's a big moon that is threatening him to risk his job and life to look for outer terrestrial life.
Going through the moon's atmosphere Astrodude did appear curious. Matter of fact, he seems pretty impressed by Titan. He even felt comfortable enough to make a joke about Titan's density. The moon didn't think it wasn't very funny as he sarcastically laughed at his lame joke. Funny enough, the atmosphere isn't too heavy despite Astrodude being a hostage here. That could be because Astrodude's fascination with space is stronger than his fear of what Titan could do to him. Plus, Astrodude is already doing what he is supposed to. Titan wasn't being indignant about the joke. They are both doing something they would rather not, prisoners of circumstances. One of them is a literal prisoner. In Titan's response to Earth rebuff, he got emotional and has committed himself to this plan. All that is needed for Astrodude to be set free is an answer. After that they could part ways. Eventually, Astrodude would have found life, it's just the mission would've killed him. The drill he used to get there had sunk to the bottom of the ocean and going up 6 miles of crust would've been improbable. More issues would pile up since it turned out that Astrodude couldn't communicate with the moon while under there. Poor Astrodude could've ended up cryopreserved in Titan's oceans. That outcome was avoided, since Luna showed up. When Astrodude landed on his surface, Luna found Titan. Since technically Titan knows what he's doing is wrong he tried to hide the situation. Blurting out that Astrodude wasn't present and acting like someone getting caught for doing something they're not supposed to. He is doing something he shouldn't, but Luna doesn't suspect that. Though it's the frantic behavior that shows that this isn't a thing he is comfortable with. Definitely in the circumstance of possibly getting caught. He is not used to being a captor, yet he is still holding Astrodude captive. What Earth had said affected Titan so much that he felt justified for his actions, when he knows that it isn't justifiable.
The reason Luna went looking for Titan was so he could apologize on Earth's behalf about what happened. He told Titan that Earth said all that because he was insecure. That Earth didn't mean anything by it. The bit about Earth not meaning anything by it seemed to bother Titan. Titan believed that Earth meant what he said and reflects that back to Luna. That Earth thinks Titan is just a moon and shouldn't dream of being anything more. For a moment Luna didn't sound sure that Earth didn't mean that. It's as if he can't deny that Earth thinks lowly about moons, because Earth does. Still, Luna defends his planet. His excuse for Earth's behavior was despite Earth’s pride in his life it's something he suffers from. So, when Earth heard that somebody else could have life, he got defensive. He tried to empathize that Titan was hurt by this but that he shouldn't do anything rash. Although Luna is a little late to the party on that front. On any ground, Titan knows Luna is right about not being irrational. The thing is that Titan doesn't want an apology from Luna. The distraught that Earth brought to him isn't a thing that can be amended by somebody that Earth doesn't respect. He wants to prove Earth was wrong. Even if it means being irrational while doing so.
Looking for insight on the new world, Astrodude called for Titan for assistance, and Luna recognized his voice. Then he realized that Astrodude's voice was coming from Titan's surface. Frantically Titan told Luna to back off and flew away. Since Titan isn't explaining what is happening this isn't a good look. Now Luna is suspicious of something going on. Impulsively deciding not to be honest and fleeing before Luna could figure out what was going on. Sadly, Titan hasn't let his grudge go and Luna's apology didn't divert his choice.
Thinking that he was alone he continued with his scheme. He winced from the pain caused by a drill. Exclaiming aloud if Astrodude was digging into his surface. To Titan's unwanted surprise Luna heard him. The moon interrogated Titan about Astrodude. Titan was caught red handed and he couldn't deny it any longer. Although he does try to minimize the scenario by saying Astrodude was helping him. When Luna asked if he was doing so by his own will, Titan said it was complicated. Digging himself a whole lot of issues as he can't directly lie. The situation looks (and is) bad. How he intimidated Astrodude into this and lying about it isn't a very good look on a fella like Titan. On some level, Titan knows he's doing wrong based on his attempts to deny and diminish the situation. A spud like Titan was bound to soften in hot water soon then later. There is no way he can keep up the facade as this isn't something he seems comfortable with. However, he is still determined to proceed. His feelings of betrayal are stronger than his moral integrity. Luna did try to convince Titan into letting Astrodude go. Saying he understood that Titan was hurt by what Earth said. He had assumed Titan knew better than to hold someone against their will. That Titan knew what he was doing was wrong. Luna must have been getting on some nerves because, suddenly, Titan spun around and lashed out at Luna. He argued why Luna was the one trying to defuse the situation. It was Earth that said those things, yet Luna is the one who went through the trouble to find Titan. Apologizing on the behalf of his planet who didn't bother to apologize himself. Because he wasn't even sorry. Titan argued if Earth even saw him as a friend, or an equal. A possible reference to "Is the Moon Really Leaving Us?" Titan claims to have only seen Earth being decent to him when he was showing him off. Titan asked Luna if Earth sounded like a friend. Well Luna doesn't comment on anything. He just looked downcast and said to let Astrodude go or he'll come back with someone else. Titan didn't let Astrodude go, so Luna had failed to convince Titan to do the right thing.
I had mentioned that Titan is aware he is wrong for forcing Astrodude to look for life. He had overlooked the risks, and invested for the potential benefit of having an aspect equivalent to Earth. Proving that moons can be like planets; hence, moons aren't lesser. It's a bet that Titan didn't want to give up. Certainly not for a moon whose planet doesn't even respect him, or for the well-being of a tiny earthling. The way Titan became quickly indignant when Luna tried to persuade him into giving up Astrodude does have some interesting indications. Firstly, snapping at Luna was to get him to back off. Stabbing at his poor relationship with his planet was to draw attention away from him and at who he thinks is really the problem. Citing he's only seen Earth being nice to Luna when he was objectifying him. Titan said all that because he couldn't let go of the betrayal Earth had inflicted. Making emotionally charged accusations about Luna substandard friendship with Earth. This was directed to make Luna understand his anger towards Earth. That they were both hurt by the same planet. He knew what he implicated was true and Luna wouldn't be able to argue back. Although it reckons a few things. Since it's not specified how often Titan watches the Earth it can't be substantial that the only time Earth was nice to the moon was when to show Luna off. Titan could have exaggerated, or used the most recent interaction, to get a point across. Although Earth wasn't even subtle about the involuntary seclusion when it just came to his own moon. He did warn his moon about interrupting him during his card games, right in front of Titan. Regardless, he saw Earth was a poor friend to Luna, yet he ecstatically pursued to be acquainted with Earth despite the red flags. Could be that Titan's fantasy clouded his reality. So enamored by his idol he was able to overlook his shortcomings. When Earth said “moons should know their place” it shattered that fantasy and opened his eyes. Although, there is another possibility that Titan was aware that Earth was a massive douche but didn't mind till he got the short end. Maybe he thought Earth was entitled to behave like a jerk because of his status and because he had life. Realizing too late that Earth's jerkiness extends past his own moon.
Titan's idolization of Earth is a strange thing. Certainly, since it's not explained why Titan is interested in the planet. In the description of “The Moon Meets Titan” it says, “Titan has a strange fixation on the Earth and the Moon”. It's strange that someone supposedly fixated on these two is disappointed in how they were in person. Although, calling Luna “Earth’s Moon” could indicate that Titan was more interested with Earth. That would be like calling Robin “Batman’s sidekick”. He doesn't indicate he knows more about him other than being Earth's moon. Sure, Titan may know about Luna, but it's due to Luna's connection to Titan's true fixation. Unfortunately, there is no said reason for Titan's obsession. Which sucks. Luckily, we get a little bit of clues for Titan's interest in Earth. When asked if he was interested in the Earth, he commented on certain features about him. Titan mentioned Earth's liquid water and ability to sustain life. Features he didn't know he probably had before Mars said something. Then there's his epiphany from Dione about being moons because they orbit Saturn. Implying their status is ruled by orbit, and not defiant by size. After the mess, Earth belittlement stirred Titan's internal feelings about his own worth. Threading back when Titan said they couldn't confront Saturn about the rings because they were just moons. This gives us two ideas why Titan is fascinated with Earth, the conditions to sustain life and his status as a planet. The sustainability of life makes Earth the most popular being in their solar system. The Gas giants recognize and are genuinely impressed by him. Titan is fixated on Earth's conditions for life because he might envy the genuine praise he gets. Additionally, Earth is treated like a peer amongst the giants, despite his size. He could've also been fascinated with how Earth didn't need to walk on eggshells around the other planets, probably because he has life. The moon could've perceived that Earth is practically untouchable despite being a bratty prick. From Titan's perspective Earth has everything Titan deeply desires. I believe what Titan wants is the freedom to say what's on his mind free from punishment or rejection.
Time passes as Titan is wondering why Astrodude is taking so long. Coming from the asteroids to confront Titan is Luna, demanding he release the earthling or else. Turning to face Luna, and he is still insisting Astrodude was helping him. Luna shot back that if Titan didn't release Astrodude he would come back with someone else. At first, it seemed like nobody came to Luna's aid. There was a moment of silence and an asteroid humorously tumbled across the screen like a tumbleweed to emphasize the moon's lack of company. Titan had commented that nobody was there, and with that he had accidentally offended Phobos and Deimos. The sad reality is that nobody took Luna seriously and the Martian moons were the only ones Luna could get for assistance. They were little help too, much like their size. The firecrackers were spitting threats at Titan, because they thought he wasn't taking them seriously. On an unexpected turn, Titan managed to subdue their wrath by telling them they were capable of taking him out. They listened to Titan as he told them Moons shouldn't be undermined. Insighting them on how they don't need to be a planet to be powerful or dangerous. Personally, I think telling children that they are capable of beating up people far larger than them is setting them up for a bad time. Sorta reckless advice to give, Phobos and Deimos seem like the type of moons that aren't very concerned for their safety. Another thing to point out, Titan, implied that planets are both powerful and dangerous, and moons should be regarded with the same capabilities. It's interesting to believe Titan may have felt in danger in the presence of planets to make that statement. Kinda gives us a reason why he would deliberately put someone in danger by force, Titan is just proving he has the power to hurt others like a planet. I don't think Titan actually wanted to hurt Astrodude. He's just too fixated on getting an answer to see the hypocrisy of what the situation is. Nobody should be put in danger at all. That, or Titan was just trying to make them feel better after he offended them about their size and didn't actually think they're dangerous at all. That would make him a bit condescending.
Titan's insightfulness still managed to get the pyromaniacs of the solar system to consider their worth. Despite Luna protesting to stop listening to him. They mentioned the time Earth called them Asteroids and questioned if that was mean. I would like to bring up that Earth never deliberately called them asteroids; he called them pebbles. Which isn't better, in fact that's worse. They were actually the ones who indirectly called themselves asteroids. Funny enough, Luna had called them asteroids when he met them back in the episode “What if the moon went away?". Back on track, Titan reassured them that Earth was mean and they weren't asteroids. That reinsurance had won them over, and they joined Titan’s side. They were heard and valued, and again like their size, they were little help to Luna.
Unfortunately for Luna lost his only supporters, and his patience, because of the moon who was holding his earthling captive. The situation was becoming extremely indignant for Luna. He yelled that those two were supposed to help him, which annoyed him further when they told him to calm down and also called him Earth’s moon. Before, Luna didn’t seem all that irritated when others referred to him as the Earth’s moon but I guess that changed after what Titan said about Earth’s and his friendship. It's amazing how fast Titan was able to recruit those two so fast and turn them against the Earth's moon and how he probably affected the way Luna felt about his value. He seems to just bring out something from everyone he’s around. This was an indication that Titan's character is capable of gathering a following with his empathy and a catalyst of change.
Done with everyone's nonsense, Luna had to use his last resort and let the Dark Side of the Moon handle Titan. All it took for Titan to give up Astrodude was the Dark Side threatening to crash into him. A collision would kill all parties. Meaning Dark Side ultimatum, he gave Titan was to let go of the earthling or they all go. That's hard core and hopefully he wasn’t implying an inappropriate innuendo. It was an effective approach as Titan didn't want the heat. He did make a good point about how he was going to release him, since Astrodude was underneath his surface. The answer Luna gave him was to spit him out, even though he wasn't sure if it would work. Then Titan actually spat him out. The fundamentals for how these sentient celestial bodies work is insanity.
The spat-out Earthling floated there in the abyss of space. Somehow alive despite nearly freezing to death in Titan's underground oceans. Relieved to see he was alive; Luna tried to lead Astrodude out of the asteroid belt. He insisted that he not travel to places like the asteroid belt and told him to follow him out. Abruptly, Titan stopped them from leaving. He nearly demanded Astrodude to tell him what he discovered while down there. There seems to be no remorse for what he put that astronaut through. Luna had asked if it really mattered, which Titan firmly states that it in fact mattered to know the answer. still floating in open space, Astrodude informs him about the same set of knowledge of possibilities for life's existence in his cold vast ocean. It's not that solid of an answer Titan is convinced it is. He was told that life was MAYBE spotted. Though maybe it's not a no, maybe isn't a yes either. Still, Titan felt it was evidence enough to confirm he has life.
Damn his poor desperate core. Accepting probabilities as if it’s defiant proof. But if he wanted a definitive answer than he probably would’ve swallowed Astordude till he got what he needed. I would hope Titan wouldn’t result to doing vore, though.
It had surprised Phobos and Deimos that moons can have life. The moon with the most knowledge on the topic, Luna, commented that there were no rules against it. Prophecy says that no planet other than Earth has life in the solar system, but Titan is no planet. With his “new” found knowledge he set off to change things. Phobos and Deimos followed behind him, so did Luna after looking back and angerly tagged a longed. I believe the moon didn’t feel ready to return to Earth and felt that Titan might truly make a good change for everyone. That if it’s true Luna does have good judgment and would do everything to support Earth for the better.
The moons of Jupiter (part one)
A worried Saturn had made a big enough scene to grab the attention of four moons. The assumed leader of the group had asked the Saturnian moons what was causing their planet to whine. He didn't seem to ask out of concern for the planet’s distress, it seemed to be because he was curious enough to bother. Even after he was told the reason why their planet was crying was because one of his moons went missing. Typically that would warrant some sympathy for the one who asked but he wasn't all that sympathetic. He had only questioned further about the missing moon because another moon in their group teased him about a potential rival. A Saturnian moon, Iapetus, said he last saw him crossing the Asteroid Belt. He presumed Titan wanted to meet the Earth. The jockey moon wondered why he would want that. According to him, the Earth is an infamous, pretentious asshole. Dione probably would’ve agreed but instead answered sarcastically that Titan is a big fan. She then requested, if they saw him, to tell him to come home. The moons of Saturn didn't want to get into more trouble with their planet. From the tone of the scene, the Saturnian moons didn't seem all that concerned about his disappearance. They had a pretty good idea where he might have gone, but I presume nobody was willing to search for him. It's conceivable that they weren't that motivated to find him anyway. Any visible effort we see them in returning him was telling a group of moons if they see him to tell him to come home. Even then, they just wanted him back because Saturn was being too much. The moons seem apathetic, but we can speculate why they aren't frazzled about his disappearance. The last time they spoke to Titan was when he gave Saturn a pass for the rings’ creations. I also like to think they don't like the fact he's favored, and he's an Earth fanboy. Poor taste could reduce likeability points. I digress. After an awkward goodbye the bigger moon suggests they go find the missing moon, because he said he was bored. They got permission from their planet, then the four moons went to look for the missing moon, Timmy. The gang went to the asteroid belt, despite being told not to go near it. However, it was their best lead to where Titan might've gone, based on Iapetus' last spotting. They split up to look for clues. One half had a run in with the Earth’s moon, and the other followed two small things that zoomed past them. We finally see what Titan has been doing since the last we saw of him. He was painting something on a sign and noticed that Phobos and Deimos were back. They also started to refer to him as ‘boss’ even though Titan preferred they call him by his name. We can assume this is his way to feel more equal to his moon peers. Supposedly Titan sent them out to look for other moons. However, Phobos and Deimos got scared of the belt and came back. Titan tiredly reassured them it was fine and they would look for others later. Then he was alarmed by something in the belt before he could finish what else he was going to say. Turns out Phobos and Deimos did bring back other moons, not purposely. These moons stepped out of the shadows like creepy villains, which was probably foreshadowing their antagonist role later in the story. And one of them introduced himself as the biggest moon in the solar system. Titan's expression went from shock to intense stare. That is how Titan met Ganymede and Europa.

The Moons of Jupiter (part 2)
Titan did question Ganymede’s claim, to him there didn’t seem to be much of a size difference. Sure enough, with just 35 miles they don't drastically differ in size. Still, Ganymede still rejoices in the fact he's bigger. It’s evident that Ganymede is trying to make Titan feel inferior by flaring he is the biggest moon. Ganymede also was showing off he’s a bigger— ehem. Europa had already made a similar innuendo. However, to Ganymede’s dismay, Titan isn’t affected by the taunts and flaunts. He nonchalantly accepts Ganymede is the larger moon and goes back to making signs. The tone Titan used throughout the entire interaction indicated how unconcerned he was about the topic of who was the biggest moon. Maybe he could’ve felt a bit annoyed, but Titan doesn’t express or say anything to indicate much. It irritated Ganymede that Titan wasn't giving him the reaction he wanted.
The little moons of Mars spoke on behalf of Titan, telling Ganymede he doesn't care if he's bigger. Guess being told they were capable of mass destruction the two inferred sizes isn't that important to him. They tell him Titan's underground oceans could sustain life. That's far more impressive. That caught Europa’s attention, because Ganymede and her also have underground oceans. So, they also could have the potential to carry life. Titan overheard the conversation, astonished. At first Ganymede assumed Titan was jealous but became less aggravated after Titan revealed is actually enthusiastic. Since there are other moons out there that can have life, then moons can be like planets.
It is hilarious Ganymede set out to look for Titan because he was bored. The reason is that after finding the missing moon he first attempts to antagonize him. Instead of taking him back to Saturn or delivering Dione's message. I could speculate the excuse Ganymede made to find Titan was to insert his superiority once he found him. The rest of them probably genuinely had nothing else to do. It was a simple adventure to spice up the mundane. Unexpectedly, newfound knowledge of possible life on moons would change everything. When Europa heard Titan's oceans could sustain life she perked up. Ganymede and her also had oceans, so she made a parallel that life may exist on them as well. Which is cool, but Titan's expectation for equality because the possibility of life, was questionable to them. She thought he might be onto something or he's crazy. The prospect of life on a moon is already a bold hypothesis, implying the planets could respect them for it seemed wack. However, if there is a possibility that life does exist, the dynamics of planets and moons might change. The Earth got a lot of attention for his sustainability, maybe she thought the same could happen to them. In Europa's words, the implications were huge. It's notable that Europa is insecure and fed up with how Jupiter unintentionally treats his biggest moons like small kids and openly forgets the rest of his moons. The chance there are more moons that could successfully sustain life than planets would bring attention to them. Finally, the planets could see they are worth a damn. The enticing benefit that moons could be sustainable for life may grant was enough to change the course of their original plan. Agreeing with the change of course, and after getting threatened, Ganymede asked Titan what his deal was.
Ganymede interjected that Titan was either a superhero or villain wannabe (if ya wannabe mah lover). Based on his observation that Titan's hideout is in a creepy jazz neighborhood. With how carefree his questioning was, Ganymede was probably simply meddling for answers to see where Titan’s morality tipped. Titan stumbled on his words when he tried to decline both sides of the accusation. Possibly indicating how he wants to stay neutral about what he's doing. Coming in again, Phobos and Deimos had hyped him to share his story, to tell them what the Earth said. Ganymede smugly beckons Titan to tell them, so to take advantage of the opportunity of indecisiveness. Sadly, we don't get to hear Titan's whole oral interpretation of his experience. I would have loved to hear how he would tell the whole story. Instead, when it cuts back to him, we get to hear Titan share the part when Astordude said he found something under his surface, and his decision to change how moons are treated. Beginning to accumulate hype with his next step with the alleged discovery, but his tale might have construed a certain expectation for his audience. It straight up disappointed Ganymede and Europa when he said he was going to create a strike. Guess they were expecting a different response based on what Ganymede understood from his story. Which is muddled because he didn't like Earth before and wanted to take down big game to boost his ego. So, he tries to divert Titan's direction from a strike to an attack.
It's evident that Titan was manipulated by Ganymede and Europa. Poor naive Titan was easily played by the two masterminds. Honestly though, it didn’t take much convincing to get him on board. It was almost too easy how Ganymede took what Titan went through and twisted it into something more radical. Although, based on Titan’s history he has already done some extreme shenanigans. Abducting Astrodude and forcing him to look for life in his underground oceans. Showcasing Titan is capable of endangering life before even meeting Ganymede and Europa. He stabbed at Luna's suboptimal friendship with Earth because Luna was trying to get Astrodude back. Snapping at the moon was because he was sensitive to the topic of Earth after the meet and greet. So, he was emotionally vulnerable and susceptible to securing his goal by attacking someone personally if they tried to get in the way. He might be even more sensitive on the topic about what the planets are like to the moons. Just before all of the controversy with the Earth had occurred, Saturn confessed that his rings are from the fallen. With that situation Titan felt like he had to forgive him because they were just moons and couldn't do anything. Reluctantly letting Saturn leave without any more consideration from his planet. Titan felt small, ignored, and hurt by Earth and Saturn. He was prone to act irrationally given what he has been through. So, going along with Ganymede and Europa's plan wasn't entirely unconventional on his end. Odds are, he probably wanted revenge deep in his core anyways. It’s just that it doesn't seem likely Titan would ever consider violently attacking a planet. It's likely Titan was under the impression that the solar system hierarchy made it feel it was impossible for a moon to go against the planets. The best decision, and possibly the only option he could've think of was to not to resort to violence and hope the strike would be enough to get their attention. The probable consequences that could await them if they tried fighting could be seen as suicidal, but Titan had also seemed considerate about how indecent it’d be to hurt somebody on that level. Perhaps he was on the fence on what was feasible till the Earth’s moon unwittingly tipped the scales.
The biggest moon in the solar system had wanted to persuade Titan to look into mass extinction. Ganymede had insert himself over to Titan's personal space so he could get more close with Titan. Then asked if being told “moons should know their place” was equivalent to being physically damaged. Titan did insert that, although it hurt him like a punch Earth said that he leaned away from conflicting that pain back. Obviously, Ganymede was trying stir up Titan's already existing thoughts and feelings to sway him to see alternatives. He flipped Titan’s stance on the matter at hand and insisted that a strike wasn’t gonna settle the offense. Not offering Titan a chance to reinstate himself in the argument, and he had put Titan in a position where he had to simply listen. Titan would get played; Ganymede knew what made him tick and how to push his boundaries. Titan he would let that itch for getting even, whatever that means to him, drive his intuition. Leaving an opening for Ganymede to pitch his idea for bringing down Earth.
He gave Titan his own rendition of the meet-and-greet with Earth. The visual demonstration of Ganymede’s interpretation differs from other demonstrations in the series. Typically, when characters are talking about theories, hypotheticals, facts, etc it’s depicted in clean white lines, or flashbacks, presumably due to save time. However, when Ganymede reflected the story Titan told him, its depiction is colorful and the resemblance is childish. As if Ganymede’s comprehension of what he had described lacks cognition. Still Titan would be taken by his point of view. He had called Earth the “golden boy of the planets”, and I assume the moons believe Earth is the planets’ favorite because his life is the reason for that title. So, when Earth met Titan, he felt his agency threatened. Ganymede assumed Earth felt insecure that somebody else could have the capacity to also have the planets’ favor. To be honest, it’s not a bad interpretation, for Ganymede. Caught up in his words, Titan had asked Ganymede what else could they do; what else could they do to deal with Earth. That is when Titan allowed himself to open up to Ganymede for him to implant his proposition.
Titan was hesitant about Ganymede insinuation. Despite how much it hurt him when Earth said, “moons should know their place”, he said he didn’t want to be like, I assume, Earth. Let's review, compared to what Earth said to what Titan did in response, in Titan’s mind, kidnapping someone isn’t as bad as being called inferior. What Titan did was low and would be a penalty of ten years and added $10,000 fine, if he were human. To put it on scale, I believe what Earth said was extremely inappropriate and diabolical, but I don't think what was said was equivalent to what Titan had done, or what he planned to do later on. At first Titan was mature and he wasn’t gonna play dirty like he thought the planets had. He had chosen the pacifist route, mostly, and was gonna make a change as civilly as possible. But Ganymede's interpretation of the situation made it seem more desperate. Earth's words must've had an awful bad impact on Titan because if I'm understanding this right, Titan's estimate of sinking to Earth’s level would be destroying everything he's sustained. Well, I guess that was due to Ganymede’s influence insinuating making Earth as dead as a moon would be putting him down to their level and could lower the bar for Titan’s neutral moral standards. Sure, Earth was aggravating and he has a very punchable face, but the life on his surface shouldn’t be tools for their political gain. To put in danger something as small, and feeble compared to a planet size moon, would be overkill. Suggesting the moons' fight for their rights through the entire annihilation of all life shouldn't be a consideration. But I believe Titan wasn't genuinely concern for the wellbeing of the fragile lives on Earth. Titan already demonstrated how careless he could be with life when he had abducted Astrodude. He was locked in that Earth deserved to be removed from his hypothetical throne by any means, however attacking a planet was unfathomable to Titan.
He could've remained doubtful of the idea and stuck with the strike. Then Luna and the others came back. Inadvertently Luna had proven that moons have the ability of physical persuasion as he flexed that they fought a dwarf planet. Implicating since they were capable of facing off Ceres, Titan came to the reckoning that the moons can fight against a planet. Letting Titan to officially decide that the only way for the planets to listen is by taking down the Earth.
The Moons Turn Crazy
Trying to assure Luna that the Earthlings would be fine, despite the plan being to destroy all life on Earth. Titan has assumed attacking Earth wouldn't be so bad. Astrodude's ship was enough to convince him that the Earthlings were capable of evacuating the planet. Smiling at the decision as he asked the Earth’s moon to join them. Not fully contextualizing the horrifying situation he is putting Luna in. That ignorance shifted the fear in Luna to level-headed judgment as he vocalized his disappointment in Titan. To block Titan from the moon, Europa tried to deflect by insinuating Luna wasn't supportive of their cause. However, Luna wasn't easily manipulated by Ganymede and Europa’s ploy. He stayed firm on what he believed was right and refused to join them. Titan understandably accepted his decline and excused him. Ganymede then sent out Io and Callisto to bring him back. When Titan tried to confront him for infringing on Luna's dismissal, Europa swooped in to circumvent him. She cushioned his ego by saying he was a good leader before basically calling him a pushover. Though they were concerned with getting caught, the undertone for what they meant by calling Titan soft was to subdue doubt the Moon had placed in him. They were able to recognize that the moon was detrimental for what they were planning to do. That in which they plan to exploit Titan's internal grievances for their own benefits. Having Luna be unaffected by their manipulation and imploring for Titan to have more critical thought had threatened their plan. 1needed to enforce that the moon wasn't gonna be a threat at all.
He turned away as Titan's mind was still contemplating if they were on the right track. In that moment Titan became overwhelmed with emotional conflict, and he was no longer in charge of this situation. He had handed his cause over to those two. Now Ganymede and Europa are pulling the strings and Titan is their puppet. The struggle to make the right choice conflicted his mind. Not because he couldn't articulate the change of plans, but he had subconsciously pondered if he wanted revenge or he should make peace and forgive. He tried to rationalize what he was doing was for a greater cause, but the idea is too contradicting. This is really about Titan getting back at the planets in the most painful way possible; he might've been afraid to admit that to himself. Since Titan was still mad at the planets, Ganymede and Europa were able to use him.
Titan only reconsidered destroying all life when Luna declined to join them. Later, when Titan believes Luna is dead, he begins to look stressed and doubts his decisions even more. It probably would've been more stressful if Titan paid attention to Luna during his stalking sessions. If he did, he'd know that the plan to wipe out all life was already accomplished. The moon is a very crucial part in life and without it, life will begin to dwindle. Titan, an Earth fan boy, probably didn't know what the moon’s full purpose was. So, he probably thought of him in a similar regard as everyone else, belonging to the Earth, or a shield. Not knowing all his responsibilities as a part of an essential dynamic in sustaining life. The moons never acknowledge Luna's importance when it comes to life. Though whatever Titan did know of Luna, he knew that Luna died trying to do the right thing, and that weighed heavily on his consciousness.
The cause Titan was fighting for already had a casualty. It's kinda ironic, their plan was to get planets to see moons as equals by attacking a planet, and they just discarded a moon. A moon Titan knew was just trying to do what's right. Then it was decided for him to continue with the revolution. Not a single one of them realized they took out an important moon. They achieved their goal by friendly fire. The mission had already failed successfully. Though Ganymede still proceeds to manually destroy all life. This time assuring the group nothing like that happens again. He noticed the somber Titan and did his best not to aggravate him. It’s insane to continue with the destruction of life since the Earth's moon, the figurative paladin of righteousness and the literal and figurative embodiment of Earth's stability, was gone. So far, we can gather that the moons didn't know much about Luna's role. We don't really know if they even knew his name before all of this. They were so tunneled vision with Earth that they didn't recognize the importance of one of their own.
The death of the Moon wasn't intended but Titan still looked very distraught. It was asserted that if another moon decided to back out it wouldn't end like the Moon. Ganymede started to assign everyone to enlist more moons to the cause. When Ganymede called the Martian moons “asteroid thingys”, Titan firmly corrected him on what their names were. The way he was bothered by Ganymede not calling Phobos and Deimos by their names. That made me curious. Was he upset with Ganymede for the death of Luna and was just snapping at him? Or was he reminded of how his planet didn't remember his moons' names? Is it because the death of the Moon reminded him of the rings and the nameless moons that formed them? Nonetheless, he was not doing well mentally. Despite his distress he did what Ganymede said and headed out to find the moons of Uranus.
The Moons of Uranus
On their way to get more recruits for the revolution Titan wasn't looking confident, but Phobos and Deimos didn’t recognize it. Titan was contemplating the revolution he tried to consult with the two, but they confirmed they are followers through and through. Admitting he missed the Earth’s moon probably because he would have challenged his choices. Titan isn't sure if he should be “leading” a revolution against the planets. Following through with the attack even after killing the Earth's moon seemed to be putting a lot on his mind. The Earth's moon didn't want to hurt the Earth, and Titan knew he shouldn't either. Despite what Earth had said it didn't mean people had to die. Though going against Ganymede and Europa did lead to Luna's death, even if it was done unintentionally. Afterwards Titan couldn't stand up to them as he probably felt partially at fault. They were just helping him after all. Trying to get the planets to listen to the moons, and give the moons what they wanted, blood was gonna need to be spilled. The death of Luna was simply a mishap and shouldn't reflect what the revolution is trying to achieve. Right? Who knows what was running around in Titan's mind at the time.
On their way to find more recruits they spotted a moon in the Kuiper belt. However, they were spooked by Uranus and Neptune. Based on the perspective of Uranus and Neptune telling Uranus what he did wrong, the ice giant scared Titan because Uranus was being extremely opposed. In this episode (The moons of Uranus) Neptune is teaching Uranus to understand that his massive size is scary to a moon, and he should be careful with them. Uranus wasn't careful and his size and booming voice startled Titan and the moons enough to cause them to flee into the Kuiper belt. Titan was not expecting to be stopped by any planet. Uranus' giant size and loudly asking them to please share the whereabouts of his moons must've triggered the moons’ megalophobia.
There in the Kuiper belt, Titan and the two remaining Rocky planets’ moons go after one of Uranus' moons. She tries to tell them to leave her alone, and it leads to a chase. Probably recognizing she was scared, Titan tried to explain he wanted to help moons like her. Chasing her wasn't the best way to show he's not a threat. He is then suddenly stopped by Umbriel, who came to look for Ariel. He was confused by Umbriel's silence till Ariel told him she's mute and needed to judge him. So, he waited for Umbriel’s judgement before he could continue. After she approved him, Titan gave his name and asked them if they could take them to their leader. It's as if seeing how big planets are, like Uranus, it rebooted his mindset. Then when he saw Ariel in distress, he forgot his doubts. He just picked up his role as the stoic and brave leader of the Moon revolution. Seemingly forgetting someone died.
As soon as Titan sees Titania it's hinted he was instantly infatuated. Titania is firm, cautious, and demanded who had sent him. What beau. Although it was Ganymede who assigned Titan and the Martian moons to look for the Uranian moons, Titan states he sent himself. Somehow Titan remembered he was supposed to be in charge of an entire scandal, that is totally for the best interest of all the moons. The moon that was killed was not included. When Titan formally introduced himself as the leader of the moon revolution, Titania laughed at him. In his quick observation, Titan had asked why they were hiding from their planet. Though he was under the impression the moon he followed was in distress, possibly in trouble with their planet. He tried not to indicate that he insinuates the worst. He questioned if they were just playing a game, Uranus did ask him before scaring him off if he seen his moons to tell him where he could find them. Titania had explained that Uranus said he was going to crush his moons to make bigger rings, so they fled to the Kuiper belt. She does say she wasn't sure if it was a joke, but they didn't want to risk it. Titan reassures her that she's not wrong for her response, a planet shouldn't play with their moon's safety. Telling her that Uranus, the Earth and Saturn use their size to bully the moons. He stated the reason he was there was because he wanted to change their situation with the revolution. To make the planets listen and respect all Moons. Guess the Uranian moons’ situation hits close to home for Titan because he got all riled up. Bringing up Earth and Saturn as being bullies and all.
The Uranus situation could be relatable to Titan’s situation. After all, Titan felt obliged to forgive Saturn for presumably killing his moons that made his rings. When things didn’t work out with Earth he took things into his own hands. Found out he has the possibility for life, and he'd set up a base in the Asteroid belt to hide from the planets. The circumstance here is this is not an ideal situation, but it’s preferable to run and hide till they have the upper hand.
There is a possibility Titan is afraid of the size of the planets. Coinciding with the B plot of the episode. Uranus is taught by Neptune that his size and status can be intimidating to his moons. The lack of delicacy resulted in the fear the Uranian moons felt. That is why they hid from their planet. Titan can relate with them given his own experience. Calling his planet a bully because he is bigger could confirm that Titan has somewhat tuxiphobia. Despite his efforts to see size as not important, he still views Saturn's overwhelming size as threatening. Saturn’s size may be more intimidating with the notion that his rings are made of the decease. It's easier to understand why Titan thinks Earth is a bully. The Earth had basically admitted to believing moons were beneath him. In a sense, Saturn is a bully because he’s neglectful to his moons and excused it with being too big. The planets made him feel small, helpless, and meaningless. He is the biggest moon of Saturn but there’s no significant merit to that title. He’d stay in a neighborhood that has been said to be dangerous rather than return to Saturn. He wanted to be as important and commemorable he thinks Earth is. But he was denied recognition. He felt like he couldn't go home till something changed. He didn't want to face them till he could be sure he felt as big and powerful as he thought they were. Even if he wanted to tear the biggest influence down to his level.
Titan projected his problems on those moons, that maybe the reason for his sudden switch up. He wanted to help them so he be the hero that could save them from a possible ringed fate. He told them that he planned to rise up against the planets. No longer would moons be threatened and belittled by authority. They were going to fight the planets so they would finally listen and respect moons. Titania on the other hand didn't want to endanger her moons for a war that she believes would likely fail. She was hiding because her planet said he was going to kill them. Course she wouldn’t have been keen on facing the planets in a fight. Unlike Titan, their ego wasn’t hurt, their safety wasn’t taken seriously. Someone could argue that Titan's safety isn't taken seriously as well, but unlike the Uranian moons he had the opportunity to discuss that with his planet.
When the moons were discovered by Uranus (canned laughter plays) they high tailed it to the moon base in the asteroid belt. Right in the middle of Uranus’ apology letter. Titania didn’t want them to stay long enough for Uranus to look up from his note (canned laughter plays). All of the moons were fearful of their planets and Titan led him to them. Immediately Titan recognized the distress they were in and his mistake. Titania on a whim agreed to go with Titan, because he said they could hide at the base. She didn’t agree on fighting any battles, she just wanted a safe place for her moons. Later on, Ariel said that she knew Uranus wrote them an apology letter, yet she still escaped with the others. The trust the moons have for Uranus is off. The dynamic between the Uranian moons and their planet can be explored another time. Not by me, so don’t expect shit. Titan led the moons away from Uranus (canned laughter plays) because he didn't trust the planet, because the Uranian moons didn't trust their planet. He wanted them safe and ended up recruiting them for a revolution. Guess since the moons would throw asteroids at Earth then they made a silent agreement to fight for their cause in return for shelter, despite Titania being against fighting.
Titan didn't take Uranus' moons as refugees but soldiers.
The Moon Revolution (part one & two)
After they escaped Uranus' insecure apology letter, Titan and Titania cutely flew together on the way over to the Asteroid belt. They began to make small talk. Small talk then led Titania to ask about their plan to deal with the planets. Titan would go on to repeat what he pitched back in the Kuiper belt, but what Titania really wanted to know was how. He took a breath and confessed their plan to attack the Earth. It seemed like he didn't want to admit that the plan was to kill all life. He could've still felt guilt and was unsure if it was something he wanted to go through with. Upon hearing the plan, Titania interjected that they should talk to the planets before doing something rash, but Titan said to her to trust him that it wasn't going to work that way. Saying if there was a chance to resolve this through talking, he would do it. This is amusing because he denied the Saturnian moons from discussing the rings' situation with their planet. When he met Earth, he didn't confront him after the “Moon should know their place" comment. Didn't tell Astrodude what favor he wanted him to do before he agreed first. He couldn't express his feelings about the plan to attack Earth or explain how it would be a good idea. Then he led the Uranian moons away from Uranus as he was trying to amend for his wrongdoing. Again, Titan’s problem of talking to his planet is that the other moons aren't spoken to. Saturn would later go on to say he loves talking to Titan and says he respects his opinions, while his other moons are neglected. Titan isn't able to open up to Saturn about revolving matters. He is afraid to try talking about his coils with the planets, and communication in general. He has displayed enough times he’d rather avoid the hard conversation and make impulsive decisions instead. He is running away from his problem and so is Titania, but they weren’t exactly on the same page.
In my opinion I just think Titan is a coward and a scared kid. His pride was hurt and he didn’t know how to impose himself on those he held with high regards. Slinking around in the dark, getting his hands a bit dirty, till he figured out how to get what he wanted. He decided a conversation wasn't worth having because he felt perturbed based on the size and status. Titan had jumped the gun before he had a genuine conversation with his planet about whatever was troubling him. He doesn’t have the grounds to insert his opinion to those moons who are genuinely scared of getting killed if they tried to figure out if Uranus was serious. Saturn at the very least had apologized for his mishap, he would've also been very willing to hear out how he made every moon feel if it came from Titan. Titan was just afraid to have a conversation.
Titan is alone and he accidently causes more isolation. He tries to find a balance with the moons and his planet. In practice, Titan tends to cater to the planets and blocked the moons from confronting their planet. He is favored by Saturn, but he is possibly guilty about the attention he has received. There's an underlying nihilism about his perception of moons and fear of his planet that internally prevents him from speaking up about their neglect. Maybe it's mostly because the overwhelming size of his planet and Saturn’s forgetfulness that makes conversations feel pointless. However, because Titan doesn't communicate with Saturn about those issues, not only does Saturn continue to primarily dote on him, but the other moons are also envious about being left out. That envy probably has been festering in Titan's umbra for who knows how long. From their perspective, Titan is gravitating all of Saturn's attention in the orbit. They may also believe Titan has enough merit to directly address problems they have with Saturn dearest. Unfortunately, Titan had displayed to them he is more on Saturn's side than theirs. Proving that by forgiving Saturn about the rings and denying confrontation on the topic. The moons don't like that Titan is favored and that he'd defend Saturn over them. He is a barrier for the moons from properly connecting with Saturn, and as a result, leaving Titan more of an obstacle than a peer. Although Titan wants the planets to see him and the moons as a true equal, but due to the failure to convey those thoughts, he instead bore Saturn's patronizing adoration. He let the moons that are itching for genuine connection with Saturn not speak for themselves. He boxed himself in on both social ends, isolating Saturn, the Saturnian moons, and himself from communication. Titan doesn't think that moons are treated fairly but he hasn’t been fair to them as well.
He feels as if the sword of Damocles is above his pretty moon head. Perhaps he felt like he couldn't speak up to his planet, so he’d speak down to those he viewed closer to his level to keep a low profile. From Titans perspective, Saturn is a big gas planet, and the moons are too small to confront him. Settling for the cycle of belittlement and fear because the planets are bigger. Under these conditions, Titan had fabricated they would need something extraordinary to put them on par with the planets, like life. The logic being, if moons like him can exist then moons should be treated with integrity and basic respect, not pets or insignificant rocks. Proving they have potential grander than their size. The strike Titan had initially planned; it was his way to get the planet's attention about their potential. Ganymede and Europa then changed the direction of his plan to the extreme. To take out the competition would be more effective to make the planets listen, so they say. I can only presume the painful unawareness and huge size of Saturn made it hard for Titan to talk to him. Earth, Titan’s former idol, had crushed his core and he had to face the fact that Earth didn't respect moons. Somewhere within Titan, he just wanted to hurt Earth for how he made him feel worse about being a moon than he already did, and he was exhibiting intrusive tendencies. Of course, he’d think they wouldn’t be capable of a productive conversation. Unfortunately, probability isn’t the same as doing the work to get the results. Titan told Titania that there's no other way to get their attention other than through violence, but his intuition was kinda skewed. What he did was perpetuate the cycle of lack of communication.
Titania stays speculative about the plan but goes along with the idea. Hoping that if there's a chance to talk then they should. Demonstrating that she's pretty sane, confer with the other moons that convince him that mass extinction wasn’t a bad idea. I think Titan had appreciated that about her. After the death of Luna (rip his soul), it must've been a relief that someone isn't giving him full faith and is opting for civil solutions.
When Titan returned to the base, he immediately criticized Ganymede’s plan to attack Earth. The tension between the two is still pretty heavy I assume. In Titan's defense, Ganymede indirectly killed Luna and had planned an attack behind his back. Though Titan was able to easily clock the biggest flaw in the plan, the Sun. i.e. If they were to get caught Titan suspects that not all the moons would be able to survive a solar flare. Guess he does know the smaller beings' limits. Despite the fact he had sent an earthling to his inhospitable surface to dig his own grave in an icy hell. Just like his logic that some earthlings can survive the attack, he's hoping for as little casualties, if possible, on their end. Contrasting with Ganymede's approach who was willing to take the risk head on. Titan had halted the plan and opted for a more salvageable solution. Titan didn't want to be reckless about this, as he didn't want the lunitas in danger. His objective is to cause as little casualties as possible. Ironically a lot of little lives would still be taken if they succeeded. Ganymede was careless about his tactics because his motives were for an ego boost. He wanted to lead for the sake of leading and was using Titan and the lil moons for his fantasy. All the while he and Europa safely sit on the side lines as everybody else gets hurt. Titan wasn't all in on the plan, but he wasn't going to stop till he got even with Earth. They are both flawed in their motives, but Titan is supposed to be seen as the more rational one.
To Titan's horrified surprise, someone from the dead called out his name. Turns out that Luna was alive and he appeared pretty pissed. Ganymede pointed out that Luna probably already snitched on them. He then got behind Titan asking how he wanted to handle the situation. Titan is the face of the operation, but Ganymede still needs him to believe he is in control, though Ganymede is the invisible hand. He also might’ve suspected since Luna was alive and informed the planets of their plan that things were to go south. He could've been preparing for when it's time to throw Titan under the metaphorical space bus. Having Titan decide the next action could've been his way to step away from his involvement in the revolution. Just before Titan could say anything Luna cut in.
What Luna stated shocked nearly everyone that wasn't there when it happened. Titan was definitely shocked at the news; he even seemed pissed. Though I don't think it overrode his anger towards Earth. Ganymede and Europa went over his helmet and attacked Mars and Venus without his acknowledgement. Titan confronted Ganymede and Ganymede and Europa didn’t back down. They admitted proudly that they fought Mars and Venus, and they won. Shoveling in how with them down nobody would be there to defend the Earth. It’d increase their chances to successfully destroy life on Earth and Titan was falling for it. Before he was completely back under their thumbs, Luna pulled him back to reality and the gravity of the situation. He tried to convince him violence wasn’t the answer, because it never works. Violence would only breed more destruction. Unfortunately for our poor dear Luna, Ganymede is easily able to get Titan to return to his side and indoctrinate the new moons while at it. Nailing every insecurity all the moons had felt at one point, systematically meant to persuade Titan so he stayed under his control. He got closer to Titan for a more personal edge. Slipping under Titan’s surface and reminding him how he once admired Earth, how he wanted to be like him. Then Ganymede let him repeat what Earth had said that changed everything. Titan said with disgust and hatred for the planet who originally said that line to him, “moons should know their place”. He said it for all the moons to hear. It wasn't hard for the moons to understand the implication of those words. Breaking the loud silence, Ganymede exclaimed their insecurities and offered the chance to stand up to their suppressors. No longer was he hesitant, Titan made his decision. No doubts are holding him back, he was going to wipe out all life on Earth and use his moon as bait. Ganymede had successfully instigated an upheaval for the long revolving issues with the planets. Special thanks to Earth's blatant asshole-lory Ganymede had the majority of moons eating from his hands.
Titan’s plan was to use the moon to lure Earth to have as little casualties on their end but that ironically seemed a bit optimistic. It’s seemed a bit off for Titan to have believed Earth would come to look for his moon. If he thought Earth was an egotistical, narcissist, who doesn’t care about moons then he should've believed Theoretically Earth wouldn’t have come. It’s not completely certain if Titan knows the importance Luna has on Earth and the urgency to get it back. He hasn’t proven to be very knowledgeable on the closeness of their relationship, nor the fundamentals of how Earth’s life works. What he knows is Luna is close and deeply loyal to his planet but hypothetically he shouldn’t think Earth is the same way about Luna. He had insinuated there was no friendship between them and was proven right when Earth wouldn't show up to save his own earthling’s life. Maybe he thought the worst of him and believed Earth was overly possessive and would want to take back what belonged to him. Like if he was some evil dragon wanting to take back his Stockholm syndrome moon princess back to his tower. Apparently, it’s not a secret to anybody that Earth and Luna don’t have a healthy relationship. The moons tried to sympathize with Luna about how he was treated when they cornered him. So there probably were no high hopes all around that Earth would be willing to save him. Though the moons that were chasing Luna were just goons following orders and were lacking critical thought. The thing about Titan's choice was it was made on a whim so there wasn’t much thought to the plan. It didn’t seem to match the data he would likely have on Earth. Titan could’ve later guessed they'd be waiting for a long time till the Earth showed up, if he ever decided to show up. He would seem willing to wait for Earth even if he never came. There were the other moons to keep in mind and the hope for the best outcome. But maybe deep down he just wanted to see if there was a chance Earth would care enough to save his moon.
The Moon Revolution (part 3)
Under pressure was the second biggest moon of the solar system, and he refused to not listen to the most reasonable moons despite being in their worst situations. Luna desperately advises him to use his powers for good. The moon tells him how incredible it was that all the moons were in one place. Though made possible by the invisible hands of Ganymede and Europa, but Titan is technically leading them. Titania was also able to see Luna's angle for peace. If they were capable of unionizing, then they should be capable of much grander things that don't have to result in the death of billions. Overturned by his personal vendetta of the planets he proclaimed to Titania that talking wasn’t an option. He professed to Titania she didn’t understand the planets like he did, nobody understands him. He thought Luna would know why Earth deserved what they had in stored. However, the moon claimed that Earth had changed. Too bad Titan didn’t believe him, he had stated his doubt that Earth could change. Way to spurn two baddies with his emo tantrum. He’s not okay (I promise).
Okay is a word that can't be used for Titan. A moon that came back from the dead had pleaded for him to not hurt his planet and choose a different route. His newly acquainted crush had agreed with the captive that they should probably use a different approach. Heck even a Saturnian moon, Dione, also agreed with the moon. Still, they weren't enough to shake the amount of betrayal and heartache Earth and Saturn had made him feel. Those two were the ones he gave any reason for the whole moon revolution. Yet. He was dead set on the attack against the Earth. He didn’t stop the revolution when Luna died. He rejected Titania’s suggestion to talk instead when they escaped her planet. He was trying to convince them that they were beyond talking, but he was just trying to convince himself. Titan was so butt hurt by Earth that how he got there was not an accident. Ganymede and Europa may have a hand in his corruption, but he was aware of that. It can be associated that Luna and Titania play a role in realizing he still had a conscience, though he is done listening to that side of him. Letting Ganymede and Europa, the temptresses of sweet retribution, take root. As much as they were using him as a fall guy, Titan was using them as an emotional back door. He may have been stressed and hesitant about things, but he still proceeded to do them. His lust for revenge was stronger than love and sensibility. The trajectories had officially changed, it's evident that his main drive was punching the Earth back.
Titan's plan to trap Earth was to wait till Phobos and Deimos delivered the message about Luna. Sending everyone to their position and with his signal to throw at him everything they got. Bold of him to guess the Earth would come. Heck, it had shocked Luna when he did come. There appearing from the shadows calling out for Titan to talk was the infamous jerk. A stare down pursued. Honestly though, Titan giving Earth the chance to come forward without immediately getting struck down could be something. By allowing Earth to speak at all, maybe he wanted to hear what Earth had to say before he tore him down to the dirt, or he could’ve been looking for one more chance to pull back. To his astonishment, Earth wanted to apologize. He seemed quite taken aback by that and insinuated that Earth was just joshing him and was gonna insult him more. Clearly Titan didn’t trust Earth was capable of being genuine, but Earth then gave him the honest truth for why he said what he said. Which Titan would use that truth to validate his own beliefs, and he also tried to use it to cut down Earth self-esteem. Surprising him again, Earth didn’t deny he felt threatened by a moon. Pissing off Titan when Earth began talking about how little he thought of moons. Confirming Titan’s previous assumption that Earth just came to insult them till Earth continued talking before Titan could do anything else. Earth would ramble on about how big everything is. But what he was more impressed by was his earthlings and their determination to go to places that aren’t suited for them. He lied when he said the reason the earthlings went to the moon is because it’s cool, but whatever helps the narrative glaze a moon. Sealing the deal with preventing mass extinction when Earth admitted he thought Titan was awesome and he was just being jealous. He learned that he wasn’t gonna lose his friends if moons can have life, and so he asked if there was any possibility they could start over. After that speech Titania went over to Titan and reminded him that this is to talk like he wanted. The planet that he once looked up to called him awesome and wanted to be his friend, Titan had the favor of the planet's favorite. In his mind, there was no longer a desire to tear the Earth down, he got what he wanted.
Titan had called off the attack.
Then coming in to rain on their parade was, god damn, Ganymede and Europa to fully takeover of the whole operation. The puppet masters decided they would come forwards as the true leaders of the revolution. Europa claimed that they were now in charge, and Ganymede demanded the moon's attack.
The Moon Revolution ( part 4)
Nobody obeyed Ganymede's order right away. They were all there to hear Earth’s apology and didn’t feel the need to strike him when his guard was down. Add in with the fact that they agreed to follow Titan not them. Exclaiming they forget Titan and the Earth, they still could do this. They were so close, and he is not just referring to the goal of the revolution; it’s about his fantasy of being some big leader slipping from his hands. Clearly Ganymede was falling apart. Lucky for dear Ganymede, pulling up her sleeves Europa began her turn to talk. She is cunningly able to fix the attention back to where she needed it. Bringing the moons’ self-consciousness down before building back the insecurities and anger towards their targeted enemies. Classic manipulation tactic which worked. Both Ganymede and Europa converted to their side. So when Ganymede made the command to attack the Earth the moons complied. Titan had officially lost any artificial authority.
With a quick reaction he had defended Earth from the asteroid bombardment. Titan declared to Ganymede that he was done with it all. The whole ploy to destroy life for the satisfaction of the devastation of the planets’ golden boy had to stop. Titan had come to finally recognize his faults for following his bloodlust and allowing Ganymede's reckless advice to influence that. Taking offense that Titan would blame him, but then he boasted that it was his reckless advice that brought down two planets (and technically a moon if it weren’t for Callisto,) and it would’ve been three planets if Titan didn’t get in the way. Can’t even make a proper example of a decision that Titan had any input in (god damn it, Ganymede). And it was mostly Titan's idea to use the moon as bait and calling off the attack against Earth, and inadvertently Ganymede indicated that he had no say in that. It just sounds like Ganymede is trying to gloat while still pinning the blame on Titan for his actions. However, Titan called out Ganymede’s lack of empathy to the situation at large, and he accurately guessed he did this to boost his ego. Stating that the revolution had already gone too far. The fact it took a sincere apology to relieve Titan from his grudge might’ve been an indication that he did let his emotions get the better of him and display the absurdity of the bombardment. Thankfully Earth had authentically apologized before the moons did something devastating. But, by enabling the extinction of life had put him in the wrong anyway. Deflecting Titan’s accusations, Ganymede said Titan wasn’t as innocent, started saying stuff about Titan’s size, and insinuated Titan proceeded with the revolution because his pride was hurt. Titan said that maybe he's right about that; maybe it isn't a denial, but it isn't a confirmation either. That shred of uncertainty in his dialogue makes it seem that Titan was trying to stay neutral about those accusations. The difference between Titan's deflection is that he's still technically taking accountability while Ganymede is trying to place all blame on him.
Titan might've let the bad thoughts win for a time, the bad thoughts enabled by Ganymede and Europa, but he got the validation he needed. So, he allowed himself to acknowledge the mess he was in. There was always a part of Titan that knew what he was doing was wrong, that I can say is for sure. The problem is he tied his self-worth with the opinions of a moon bully planet he's barely acquainted with, and had Ganymede and Europa partially be responsible for his intuitions. But, by standing up to Ganymede he had reconciled with his more noble ambitions and fought back control before irreversible damage could've been done.
I think for the most part that Titan did an okay job with fending off Ganymede. The main issue I have is that I still think he is still implementing some internalized moon prejudice. Earth’s validation meant a lot to Titan and when he didn’t get it he did his best to rationalize his actions going forwards. From abducting Astrodude to using the Earth’s moon as bait to lure him in a trap that would’ve killed all life. There were the Earth moon and Titania opting for more civil solutions, but it seemed like Titan barricaded himself with the pain the Earth inflicted. He didn't listen to those moons about having an actual conversation. Before meeting the instigators Titan lashed out on Luna for trying to negotiate Astrodude back. Even when Ganymede and Europa weren’t in his ear to sway his opinion Titan retorted to Titania there was no way of talking to the planets. He refuted any tangible way what he was doing could be wrong because it was for the equality for all moons, but that’s not the whole story. Europa and Ganymede were enablers, and parasites, but Titan’s motivations were fueled by Earth’s words from the beginning. When he heard Saturn’s confession and Dione inferred they were just moons based on orbits, he went over to Earth for some reason. Maybe he wanted to hear from the planet he held a lot of admiration towards acknowledgement, praise, approval, validation, maybe he wanted to hear that he was more than just a moon. When Earth rebuffed him, he became hellbent on proving moons were equal to the planets. It seems like nobody's opinions matter as much as the Earth’s for Titan. He may have wanted equality for all moons because he doesn’t see himself as an equal to anybody. He's isolated in a planet-like purgatory, and he ignored the other moons about communication in favor of the attention and approval of the planets. He isn’t very self-assured of his moonanity and moonanity of his peers that’s for sure.
Where were we?... right!
So Ganymede and Titan start smashing each other. They’re tossing asteroids and accusations in an epic show down of sorts. Titan fought both in defense of Earth and to unleash frustration on Ganymede for twisting his original plan. Turns out that Ganymede was able to dig at Titan’s psyche, yelling at him that all he did was push him to what he wanted deep down; revenge. What Titan said verbatim “is this how you wipe your hands clean?”, not giving Ganymede the satisfaction of a direct answer. Something about not having hands is mentioned but that’s not really important. To be honest, I think Ganymede was being more literal than implicating that the revolution doesn’t have his prints. I do believe that Titan genuinely wanted to hurt the Earth from the start by taking away from what made him unique. He wanted to prove that moons can have life so subsequently Earth would have to eat his words. Then when Luna told Titan about his encounter with Ceres he saw Ganymede’s suggestion as malleable, despite the fact he told Ganymede he didn’t want to sink to the planets’ level. Titan’s anger was noticeable to Ganymede, which he took advantage of to get Titan to consider alternatives. Ganymede and Europa are snakes but it was his choice to follow along with the idea to commit mass extinction. The agreement to the revolution was motivated to take down the star he once looked up to.
Ganymede and Titan would continue smashing each other till Triton would come to halt the tossing around. The guest stars that Triton brought to stop the fighting was no other than the characters from the b plot arc; good ol’ Pluto and Charon; the double dwarf planets. They told them that planets and moons aren’t different and insisted on commoonication instead of genocide. I’m presuming that since Pluto and Charon’s unique dynamic gave them more merit on the topic about how to handle the relationships with their planets going forwards. What have it, the moons actually welcome their advice and become docile. The shift in the mood was recognized by Ganymede and Europa, and they decided they had to fall back. Making a reluctant announcement to not destroy the Earth, and that was the end for the moon revolution.
The moons would then all go home but right before Titan delivers a corny speech about finding a new way for planets to respect the moons. Titan was still adamant in changing things for the betterment with the relationship between the planets and the moons. I know I made it seem like Titan was only doing any of this because Earth hurt his feelings and pride, but that’s only a part of his story. There is no doubt that Titan is an Earth fanboy and based enough of his value on the planet’s opinion. But his fixation with Earth appears to stem from the lack of genuine connection with his own planet and his moon siblings. The Earth was a projection of sorts, an escapism from his position as Saturn’s favorite moon. Saturn overly doted on him, and the other moons probably didn’t like him, even before he prevented the discussion about the rings. He had to be conscious of the fact he’s more privileged than his peers and just wanted a warrant from a popular planet that he was capable of breaking through the systemic belief that moons had no power in what the planets do. He possibly felt objectified by Saturn’s favoritism and simultaneously felt guilt when nobody else got the fraction of attention he received. There was nobody at home that he felt he could reconcile with, so that made Earth a last resort to gain some confidence. That’s why Titan was trying to convince Titania there wasn’t an opportunity to talk to the planets, or why he doesn’t actually listen to the moon and Titania, it’s because when his parasocial relationship spurned him he had no one left to talk to that he saw with high social value. Despite his revenge fueled approach to get the planet to respect them, he truly did want what was best for his fellow moons and their planet’s relationship. Their approval possibly meant more to him than his obsession with Earth or life.
The revolution was over and seemed like Titan flew with Titania back to her planet. He asked Titania if she was gonna return to Uranus and they both agreed that the question sounds awful. Uranus is a funny name but it’s better than Georgim Sidus, so thanks Johann. Uranus’ silly name aside, she confirms she was willing to give him another chance. For Titan this was the end of a chapter. By no means, it wasn’t a pretty one, but he already set up to change the status quo in the near future. Knowing Titania wasn’t fully on board with the revolution, I like to think her saying to Titan they did their best was her trying to be sensitive. Though, I do think she was genuine when she said he did a good job in rallying the moons together. Before they bid their farewells, Titan speaks about his hopes and aspirations to get the planets' respect from then on. They say their good-byes but they both probably guessed it wasn’t gonna be for long. The inevitable came as it was time for Titan to go home.
Saturn gets his Moons back!
Saturn mistaken his moons as asteroids and coward when they were coming towards him. The guy is the second biggest planet, yet he fears being pelted by the equivalent of pebbles. He chilled out when he realized it was his moons and was happy to see them. Called Enceladus by the wrong name and asked where they all went. Mimas questioned if Saturn even knew there was a revolution going on at which Dione jadedly responded he didn't. Earnestly Saturn is not aware of the misadventures his moons had due to his attention being on the search for Titan, and he only noticed they were gone when Europa yelled at him. Despite the fact Dione and Mimas said that in front of him, Saturn just stared dumbly at them, computing zero of what they said. He then proceeded to mistake some more moons’ names and recognize that all his moons are with him. Proving that he definitely didn't process what they said they were up to by being genuinely optimistically quizzical about their sudden attendance. Dione, in response to his misreading of the entire situation basically called him stupid. Not that he noticed the jab. He was thrilled to see Titan was there. Annoying the moon as he expresses how much he missed and worried about him. Still, Titan apologized to Saturn for all of them leaving, not just for himself. I think he was trying to indicate to Saturn that he wasn't the only one who should've missed. Not that Saturn isn't incapable of concern for his other moons, it's just that Titan is the favorite and was missing longer. The planet isn’t catching the vibe; he appeared unconcerned they were gone. He then accidentally offended his moons when he said the thing he noticed was that he felt lighter when they were gone. Having the moons just returned from a war zone for Saturn to say things could go back to normal, really dampened the whole reason they left in the first place. The planet had displayed how unaffected he was from their disappearance and was ready to return to the way he always treated them. Dione complained to Titan that despite the extreme in Ganymede and Europa’s idea, their plan would’ve theoretically changed something. Objectively the saturnian moons gain nothing from the experience, they still have a stagnant relationship with their parent planet.
Titan tried to stop them from turning away and suggested they try to give Saturn a fair chance since he wasn’t filled in on what occurred. However, the moons were repulsed by their planet’s arrogance and weren’t confident in his compliance. Going as far to say the revolution could’ve at the very least changed how they're treated; implicating that they were okay with any attention from their planet as long as they had it. The other moons were clearly deterred, and Saturn was oblivious as ever, but Titan decided for the sake of co-existence, he put to practice what he had learned. The revolution finally gave him the push in the right direction; he was willing to try talking. He had first-hand experience of the impact one conversation can have. If planets and moons like Earth and Luna, and Pluto and Charon could work out their issue and change through talking then he would try, too. Coaxing himself before he headed to Saturn with his pitch. He needed this to go well to be assured all his experience wasn’t wasted and possibly prove that Ganymede and Europa were wrong. When he tells Saturn about the revolution the planet is audibly concerned and asks if everyone was okay. It may seem like from the moons’ point of view that Saturn only cares for Titan, but he still very much cares for all his loonies. It is just that his love is generalized and distributed unfairly. What caused Titan to approach Saturn was to use his favoritism in his favor to get his clueless planet to grasp how dire the moons’ situation was. He explained the revolution was curated because the moons felt neglected and belittled, but it didn’t work out. I am not sure if Saturn paid attention to what Titan said about the revolution, because he skipped to suspect that if it were Venus’ temper or Mercury’s insecurities was what made Titan feel downtrodden. Audibly, Saturn came to the conclusion it was his fault Titan felt that way. Well, Titan did technically agree that, yes Saturn did make Titan feel that way, but it wasn’t just him. He laid out the issues the other moons were faced with; Saturn’s misnaming and not even knowing their names. In his own defense Saturn claimed there are a lot of names, and it was hard. It could be assumed that Saturn doesn’t have the memory longer than a goldfish, so it would be hard for him to remember all those names. There are children that could name 151+ Pokémon so it’s funny an entity 4.5 billion years old didn’t learn their names earlier. Titan must’ve recognized Saturn’s faulty memory, so had he used Saturn’s love for his moons to coax him into tying to, at the barest of minimum, take small steps to learning his moons names by meeting them one-by-one. Truly Titan wanted what’s best for everyone in the most feasible way possible. Of course, Saturn accepted Titan’s suggestion to learn all the moons names, even if he had a big moon count. Still, he listens to Titan and truly wants to make his moons feel the most comfortable with him. This is a step forward for Titan’s character as he sets up the opportunity for the other moons to build a genuine relationship with Saturn.
When Titan went over to the other moons about his proposal, they stayed skeptical. To be fair, Saturn did have billions of years to settle everything, and they weren’t up for having Saturn just give their hopes up. Somehow, not all the moons are jagged and sway the others' opinions to try. Where did Tethys come from by the way? Did he stay with Saturn or was he off doing his own thing? He wasn’t in the revolution that’s for sure. I digress. though a bit reluctantly they agreed to give him a chance of redemption and a chain of moons saying they would withdraw if Saturn messed up once. Granted, the chance they gave Saturn was slim but past Titan probably prevented this in fear of conflict. Moreover, Titan remarked they should at least give him a chance because he was their planet. Assuming Titan is inferring that Saturn is family and he’s important in keeping them together. Didn’t mean the moons were into this, again, probably because they didn’t want to be let down. It’s not a very promising reintroduction, they had shown they had corrected him on their names, yet Saturn wasn’t listening. Also, the only reason Saturn is doing this in the first place is because Titan is the only moon he somewhat respects. The attention of their planet is important for sustainability of the planet and moon’s already fragile dynamic. The planet had agreed to try to secure the relationship with his moons, but he had yet to realize how short the moons would be.
The whole point of the Gettin-to-know-everyone was so Saturn would distribute his attention fairly and remember who everyone is, so everyone can get along. It was a misfortune that Saturn would mess up, though it’s not sure if it was entirely his fault. Remembering a Pokedex worth of names in one session is a challenge. Then again, I don’t know how the minds of these ancient beings truly work. How can I in full honesty judge anything if the standard of how these sentient celestial objects store their thoughts aren’t known? Of course, it sounds improbable that someone on average could account for such an overload of information in one go, but everything about talking planets is impossible. So maybe the meet-and-greet so Saturn could remember his moons’ names is as simple as a task can be, even for Saturn’s conditions. Saturn did agree that the concept had sounded good. However, from what can be inferred through the context of the series, Saturn’s memory and listening skills are worse than my taste in music, it's like some sort of object permanence. The plan and execution were supposed to be simple as they expected, and that it was probably the barest of minimum of a task; Titan did say it was baby steps. He probably already subconsciously knew the shortcoming of his planet and made it easy for Saturn, yet he would still be disappointed with how he overestimated his planet capabilities. Either it was too much for all parties to believe it was possible for Saturn to come out on top, when, typically it would be hard for anyone to sit through that roll call and remember that many names verbatim, or Saturn is genuinely impaired. Whatever the case, the planet failed his moons and it would be implied to Saturn his moons assume it’s because he didn’t think they were important enough.
In assembly in order of biggest to smallest, the first moon Saturn is introduced was Titan. The fun fact he shared was how his was the second biggest moon, even bigger than Mercury. He commented to himself about why they aren’t treated the same. Clearly Titan never met Mercury, because being bigger than Mercury isn’t that impressive. That dude is trapped between a clingy moody star who has assaulted him with solar flares and a sun trophy, and a hotheaded, ill-tempered, trash planet that makes fun of his small size. Nobody should want to be treated like Mercury. His life sucks. I’ll just assume Titan meant it doesn’t make sense why moons aren’t recognized with the same respect as planets in general. Moving on from that he proudly stated that he’s the only other celestial body other than Earth that has stable liquids on his surface. Saturn did express an overly pleased tone before collecting himself to be more fair. The moon would then come in one by one, which didn’t seem like anything was going wrong. Then it quickly went south, for the moons weren’t letting Saturn digest the previous moon's introduction. Titan did seem to recognize that Saturn was starting to get overwhelmed or he was just worried Saturn would inevitably disappoint them. There is concern for Saturn after all the introductions on Titan’s side but Saturn's delirious mind forgot that he already knew Titan’s name. Something that Mimus had pointed out, and tested Saturn to see if he remembered his name. Saturn then went on to misname a handful of his moons, with each mistaken moon becoming more disappointed than the last. Titan being the one Saturn tried to consult with when he saw his moons’ frustrations. This time Titan doesn’t let Saturn stay in bliss. He brought Saturn down to reality and made him feel the gravity. The years of neglect bundled with the failed revolution had burnt out all the moons’ hopes and patience for their planet to change. Titan didn’t protect Saturn's feelings this time, he implicated Saturn there was nothing he could do to fix it and to continue to be himself.
Titan stood up to Saturn and sided with the moons. He might’ve thought nothing had changed by expressing his thoughts to Saturn but he didn’t notice that it was the push Saturn needed to try to be better. Putting the effort to have their planet remember their names also might’ve rekindled his relationship with his fellow moons. Them talking to their planet did help, but they seem to still struggle with understanding growth.
What are the Moons up to? (part one)
I could’ve sworn the arc was called The Moon Club, this series is gaslighting us, I know it.
The episode began with Earth and Luna having a talk behind Titan’s back about the revolution, till Titan popped in and startled them. Luna probably assumed Titan was up to something, so he on purpose called him Triton. Recognizing Luna’s caution, he noted that he wasn’t there for trouble. Matter of fact he was there to talk to the moon, but Titan probably wasn't ready to have a conversation with Earth like he suggested in that speech. Titan didn't call him sir or even say Earth’s name. Compared to their first meeting that is interesting, Titan was about to call Luna Earth’s moon before correcting himself. By calling the moon by their preferred name it might imply Titan’s growth in evaluating a moon’s autonomy. That, or Titan is calling him Luna because the Earth had said his name the first time for everyone who didn’t know. So who knows how long the moon was called the moon or the Earth’s moon, or why they kept calling him that? I mean Titan had been watching them for an undetermined amount of time yet he didn’t pick up Luna's name? This is one of the reasons I thought the solar system didn’t like Luna. Off track; I’m sorry. Titan had asked if he could speak to Luna alone, while Luna did look uncertain about accepting his request. Mars chimed in and offered to watch Earth. Then Phobos and Deimos asked Titan if they could also join along. Since the conversation did kinda include them, Titan agreed wholeheartedly. The group of rocky planet’s moons would follow Titan into the asteroid belt for a chat.
Titan, a known Earth fanboy, could've gotten over his celebrity infatuation. Confiding with someone he believes he'd relate to more on a social level. Then again, if Titan would still take Earth’s words into account he did say that life wanted to visit Luna because he's cool. Maybe Titan thought it would be easier to talk to Luna. Maybe he was still apprehensive around Earth and/or the planets in general. Returning to the asteroid belt Luna wondered why Titan brought them there, which Titan clarified he just wanted to talk. More precisely, he wanted to know how the relationships with their planets were going. The Rockies' loonies flexed that they are doing great. Luna said there was improvement in the Earth’s behavior and Phobos and Deimos never actually had a problem with Mars. The moon of the most controversial planet had said that they are getting along fine, while back with Saturn I thought nothing changed. Something that Luna did, that didn't involve violence, had changed the mind of the most arrogant planet. It's not like he was aware of Earth’s attempt or the Mercury therapy session. Titan must have done some internal reflection because he admitted that Luna was right about using his influence more productively. He probably came to the conclusion that Luna and Earth must have just talked their issues out and everything was dandy. There were still problems with Saturn, but with the hope of things working out for the rocky loonies and the speech from Pluto and Charon, perhaps he could do better than the revolution. There in the Asteroid Belt, Titan decided to gather everyone once more and assigned the Rockies’ moons to go gather the moons. Except for Ganymede and Europa, Titan expects the moons to trust what he had planned and return to the asteroid belt.
This time around Titan is actually the one to go over to gather his moon kin. Ganymede and Europa had to convince the last time they were asked to go to the asteroid belt. Titan already implied that this wasn't gonna be another revolution thingy with the rocky planets’ moons, and he assured the Saturnian moons that things will be better. By very much insinuating that Ganymede and Europa were at fault for what happened and they won't be around this time. Titan talking to the other Saturnian moons is already showing that things are better between them, however Titan wholeheartedly blames the revolution on Ganymede and Europa. That indicates Titan was not just upset at the two for the betrayal during the revolution but Titan also believes that they are fully responsible for the entirety of the revolution. Ganymede and Europa are a colossal boat load by themselves but my dude Titan is not taking his actions accountable.
There was speculation and hesitation with some of the moons to regroup, since nobody was informed of why Titan wanted them there. Still, they all decide to go. I’ll give Titan credit for his pull, despite the last time they were brought together, the moons still trust him enough to not repeat what happened during the revolution.
All the moons return to the Asteroid Belt, except for the exclusion of Ganymede and Europa, just like what Titan was hoping for. It wasn't even that hard for Luna to exclude them because they were just taunting and spurning him about how Titan betrayed them and they were being bitter about their missed opportunity. They didn’t seem to regret anything till they learned that they weren’t even initially invited. Almost all the moons felt sorry for their exclusion.
Technically when the moons joined the revolution, they were told it was Titan’s idea to destroy life and he was the leader. At least the moons of Saturn and Uranus should’ve known that attacking the Earth was Titan’s idea. The Neptunians probably weren’t wrapped up in the details, Triton wasn’t even informed who was in charge of the revolution when he decided to take his nep-blings over there. Titan was seen by the Saturnians as irrational in the sense that he ever made the declaration of the total annihilation of all confirmed life in the solar system, when Ganymede went to recruit them. We don’t know for sure what Europa said to the moons of Jupiter for them to decide to join the revolution, but Luna and Callisto had insinuated that it was Ganymede and Europa’s plan to attack the Earth. Perhaps the Jovian moons gather the context clues as to who was actually pulling the strings. Also, Titan insinuated that the revolution was Ganymede’s idea when he stood up to him in front of everyone. All the moons could’ve gathered from their argument an understanding of what was happening between them (though I do have a hard time believing in their intelligence). There were moons that were more insightful about the manipulation that Ganymede and Europa partake, such as Luna, but for the majorities’ prospective Titan was the leader until Ganymede and Europa took over. Titan was the one to call the shots for when they would’ve originally struck down Earth. That his turn around though could’ve been Titan’s saving grace for gaining the moons’ trust. Still, most of the moons were giving Titan a lot of faith by following him once again. The sudden takeover of Ganymede and Europa could’ve segmented to them who the truly unhinged ones were in the operation. However perhaps for some of them, Ganymede and Europa were just following through with a plan Titan accumulated and they all were unhinged. Most of the moons probably felt partially at fault for following along with the revolution to begin with. If some of the moons did believe it was Ganymede and Europa ploy the entire time, then they could sympathize with Titan’s disdain for Ganymede and Europa. Afterall, they also fell for their allure of the promise for attention and respect. But how are they to know for sure Titan didn’t come up with the plan to destroy Earth and wanted to shift blame to them because he felt bitter about their betrayal? Overall, the moons are (almost) all guilty and ashamed (except Ganymede and Europa) for what they almost did, but Titan was also supposedly in charge. It seemed fair to them that Ganymede and Europa should’ve been allowed to come as well despite their controversies.
Titan was mad at Ganymede and Europa for exploiting him. They simplified his experience with the Earth so they could swap his protest with their manifesto. From Titan's perspective they wanted fame and they used him and his goal for equality as a front for their operations. To him, they weren't truly prioritizing the greater good for all of moon-anity; they did what they did for themselves. That doesn’t mean Titan’s drive was purely fueled for the moons’ rights either. Justified as he wanted to be, Titan understood Luna’s words about how wrong the revolution was, yet that didn’t stop him until the end after Earth apologized. No, dear Titan was not only mad at Ganymede and Europa’s sudden takeover, he was also angry about how he allowed those two to control him through his rage against Earth. Like I said before, Titan in some sense understood the exact situation he was in throughout the entire revolution. His retrospect on Ganymede and Europa was based on how they wanted to divert his rage not for constructive but destructive intent, so they could feel powerful. This isn’t even something that has to be extensively collected through context clues. After Titan shielded Earth from that first asteroid he was spilling his faults. Titan admitted that he became the person he believed Earth was by letting himself get to that point; an egotistical narcissist that is afraid of having anyone reach his level. There was a part of him, ever since Earth damaged his ego, that wanted an excuse to make Earth live up to his name and make him feel like dirt. It's quite the coincidence that his endeavor for the equality of all moon kind came with the bonus where he could prove to the Earth he ain't all that and a bag of chips. Then when Ganymede came along it allowed him to take a step further for his righteous ambitions. He practically disregarded all the warnings that what they were doing was terrible and denounced any opportunity for a less extreme approach. Drilling it in by now, Titan's motives weren't all based on pure intent because he wanted to hurt Earth. He knew Ganymede and Europa were taking advantage of his vengeful desires, so they could maneuver a genocide for their selfish gain. Titan must have configured they weren’t cool to be around.
When the moons brought to Titan's attention that Ganymede and Europa were the only ones not invited and he misread the vibe. It’s a bit funny that Titan assumed that everyone would know why he wanted to exclude Ganymede and Europa instead of clarifying his reasoning. It appears he is not ready to confront that hot topic just yet, but ebbing tides would eventually wash back up. He is uncomfortable with his enablers
Titan quickly changed subjects into why he wanted them all in the Asteroid Belt. He acknowledged that the revolution was a bust and that nothing had really changed. There were still issues between the moons and planets, but they did manage to come together for one cause. What he hoped for was that all moons could come together again, only this time without the intent of violence (and Ganymede and Europa). He wanted them there to give moons a safe space for them to be themselves and talk freely about their problems with their planets. He had declared there in the Asteroid Belt their hang out place. Officially established as the Moon Club.
A bit ironic that the Asteroid Belt was made a safe space, considering it's said to be a dangerous neighborhood. Though it can be assumed that was where the state of the moons and planets’ relationship was at, quite literally on the rocks. It could be implied that the belt is safe in the sense that they're hidden from the rest of the planets. Some moons might've feared and or were unable to make proper conversation with their respective planets, consequently that might've caused the Asteroid Belt to seem more welcoming despite the warnings. That, or Titan is super unaware of the danger surrounding them cause he hadn't learned to heed anybody.
Moon Club (part 2), now known as What are the Moons up to? (part 2)
The episode starts off with Titan complimenting Luna for his sign design for the Moon Club, which I find hilarious. Titan and Luna, from almost killing his planet to starting a club with the moon he believed died at the start of the revolution. 100% friendship goal. While everything was in order and all the moons were situated. Titan try to state the matter of business. That didn't pan out well because the little moons weren't interested in what he had to say and would rather play games. Apparently to only Titan's surprise, not all the moons are comprehending the entire reason they're there. It was Callisto that pointed out that 19 moons out of hundreds of others were spherical. Triton then asked Callisto ho thing were with her planet, to which she relied not great. they began to have a discussion about Jupiter's sus behavior as Titan observes the conversation from the sideline. They apologized for getting off top, but Titan said that that he wanted the moons to be able to communicate those sorts of matters. The reason he assembled the moons was so they could can work out their issues with their planets with a community they can rely on.
he may have intended the moons to come together for constructive conversation, but Titan wasn't aware that most of the more were shape and size of asteroids, basically implying because of those reasons those moons were consider kids. If for not the fact that not all the asteroid shape moons are portrayed that way. The child-like moons are mostly just Neptune's moons and maybe some of Jupiter's. I don't think Titan believes all the nonspherical moons are all inherently children. That would mean Titan would think that any moon that's not a sphere had the mentality of a child when that's not always the case. It would be kinda hypocritical and condescending for Titan to view the nonspherical moons as all children. Especially since he wanted their planets to stop treating all the moons like kids just for their size. Though maybe Titan was also referring to them to be as small as a kid. Perhaps Titan had the realization that he forgot to take in account the nonspherical moons mental gaps and their physical smallness when confronting matters about their planets. Titania had questioned Titan if that ever crossed his mind while recruiting them to the revolution. Her implication suggests that Titan isn't as mindful as he thought he was and he had inadvertently put moons in serious danger. To which he ignored those implications as interested to see Titania showed up.
On one hand, I absolutely get the reason why the moons have such a big role in this arc. Chrysalis was a moon, the fact that her body is made into Saturn's beautiful rings could be disturbing to the moons, the rings reveal is the main reason the Saturnian moons joined the revolution against planets. So I am absolutely not upset about them having a role in this arc. If anything I'd be more upset if they didn't.
On the other hand, I am worried that the moons are once again going to overshadow Saturn when he finally seems like he's going to get his own arc. I'm just hoping we just don't get a repeat of the Planet X arc.
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.
PITCH: We call it Moon Day, and then every 7 years when it falls on a Monday, that's an even BIGGER deal and we call that Moon Day Monday and go absolutely apeshit about it (the next Moon Day Monday is in 2026 so we have a couple trial runs first)
Dunno if you were in Jack’s stream, but Jack was playing more Minecraft and the topic of what SolarBalls characters would be like in Minecraft came up, so what are your headcanons?
Some headcanons I, Jack, and/or other chatters came up with:
- Venus would make a house in the nether to try and look cool.
- Neptune not only understands villager, he can “hmmph” it, too. Jack said that Neptune would come off as a total noob at first, but then have everyone absolutely floored when he ends up building some of the most advanced stuff.
- Earth would probably make a zoo/aquarium (or maybe just a farm) and take care of all the animals. Someone else (can’t remember who) said that Earth would tell someone (…maybe Venus) to try sleeping in the nether. That said, Earth would absolutely be the trolling type.
- Saturn would either be a total noob or he’d build some elaborate, luxury mansion. I don’t think there’s an in-between (…unless we’re talking about Jupiter’s legs-).
- Jupiter would either be an Iron Golem himself or he’d be buddy-buddy with them.
- Sun would accidentally burn his character to deaths trying to set himself on fire in an attempt to try and replicate his nuclear fusing glory.
- Sun & Venus are definitely rage quitters who would destroy their devices/gaming setups and/or burn the house to the ground the second they have access to literally anything flammable.

on a separate note look at my beautiful twin boys earth and luna. this was meant for an ask in my inbox but ehhh I ended up wanting to do something different for that so now we just sorta have this. this was mostly a pratice piece because I've suddenly lost my ability to draw over the course of a week again so we're on that thing now. And I can't write properly if I can't draw, even if I wasn't gonna draw anyways I need to know I can or I basically lose all other function. Anyway. This is ok. I can do better, and I will, eventually 🙄 but I like it enough for now

Anyway I thought the whole planet revolution arc was hilarious and awesome for the supported reason that Earth and Luna being the youngest siblings left behind while the rest of them made their great escape fueled many of my agenda. of which I can not say. Because I'm a writer now and I'm not tacky enough to admit my influences in my meta. Even if you can infer a few from my posts but you know how it is. Every planet in the solar system is Fiona Gallagher. Including the Sun actually the Sun is also Fiona Gallagher. And Luna is Fiona Gallagher. Everybody gets to be Fiona Gallagher! Not Earth
