I do think the ability to emoji-react is a net win for human communication. not only does it give you an outlet for 'I see and acknowledge this but don't have a verbal response' but it also adds a pleasing alethiometer element to things

I made it silly, but Mai's body dysmorphia has been cooking in my head for a while (I have a wip about it from two years ago or so?)

He used to be so preoccupied with trying to actually get somewhere in the Circle that he never stopped to think about what he looks like, and because of his preferences not being exactly encouraged in Ferelden intimacy was not an option to him, so once he was actually relatively free to explore his sexuality with the most shameless person available, he also started overthinking it. Mai can pretend to be nonchalant all he wants, but he's 18 here, he's out of his depth, a bit overwhelmed by his first relationship and by his own attraction to Zevran he kind of really wants to be reciprocated? I think Zevran is the most nonjudgmental guy when it comes to his partners, but Mai doesn't understand either that or the concept of bisexuality honestly lmao, so he's all tormented by his own body not being satisfactory enough.

Meanwhile the guy he's pining after thinks Mai's waist is very grabbable and that he's pretty when he blushes or whatever. Maybe oblivious to this, maybe pretends to be clueless to not get too involved, then just doesn't address it ever and neither does Mai.
