Jousting at the festival to impress your lady love!!!

the longer I sit with obsession the more empathy I start to feel for entity!nikki. this creature that was created solely to love one person with this all-encompassing intensity that needed to be stronger than anything anyone felt in the entire world. entity!nikki whose entire world was just one single focal point; she'd do anything for bear to love her. she didn't know anything when she came into existence, but she was willing to do anything to get this man to fall for her.

it must have been equally terrifying for her as it was for the real nikki to have someone else fight for control over what she perceived as her body. the scene where she's sobbing in the corner, terrified of her dreams is now more sad than terrifying to me. real nikki, who has just been raped by her once best friend hurting so badly that it seeps into entity!nikki's nightmares. entity!nikki who doesn't understand why the thing she wanted so badly is causing her so much pain. why she can't bring herself to lie in bed next to the man who is the center of her world.

and the worst part is bear doesn't even seem to like her. she's trying so so hard; she made a lovely memorial for his dead cat, she waited for him to come home all day without moving an inch, she made sure to be the most doting girlfriend at the party, and he's not pleased by any of it. he seems disturbed and angry and scared and she has no idea what to do to make it better. to make it worse, he keeps asking her to behave like the original nikki but he was the one who wished for her!! she can't be like nikki because nikki was simply not capable of loving bear even a fraction of how much she does!

she can't seem to reconcile it; he wanted her so badly he conjured her into reality and now he doesn't want her anymore. she doesn't know what to do. she tries everything. she obsesses over him, she threatens to hurt herself, she gets rid of that bitch sarah who keeps distracting him and trying to steal him away, and then dresses in her clothes for good measure and he still doesn't want her.

and then finally in a fit of desperation, she makes the wish and for one beautiful moment its all perfect. he's finally looking at her the way she looks at him. and then he's dead and she's lost everything.

her entire existence, from the moment of her conception to her death was painful, and confusing, and so very sad.

i've been trying to understand why the director said that nikki wasn't possessed but your explanation of an entity being created, which is very different than demonic possession, makes complete sense. a life created solely to fufill bears wish, fighting for control over a body she shares with the real nikki. literally learning as she goes and the center of her life constantly meets her with discomfort or anger. reminds me a lot of frankenstein and the creature.

The best thing about having met my fiance when he was 18 is being able to watch him grow into an adult and get to grow along side him.

One moment I think about a lot is actually from when we first started dating.

I can’t recall the exact conversation, but I remember he had used the R slur very casually either with me or with his friends.

And I said to him, “I don’t like the R slur because as an autistic person, it hurts me a lot. It is a Harmful word especially coming from a neurotypical/allistic person.”

And he listened to me and said “Oh. Im so sorry. I promise I won’t use it again.”

And genuinely… he’s never used that word ever again.

In fact- I think he told his friends that they shouldn’t use it either which I didn’t even ask him to do.

I just told him I didn’t like when he used it. And he just… stopped.

I think about this moment a lot because it’s such a small thing… but it’s also not.

I expected pushback, I expected an argument, I expected to have to give him time to change…

But he just… did it.

And this change, it’s small right? It’s an easy change to make to not say slurs… but it’s such a testament to who my fiance is.

Not only did he not question that I was hurt, he recognized it and apologized immediately.

And, he also changed his behavior knowing it was harmful to others- especially a marginalized group.

Looking at the man he is today- a feminist, anti racist, a communist, a passionate advocate for human rights, god- he’s even a vegetarian…

He makes me want to be better every single day because he genuinely wants to be a good human being.

I am so proud of the man he’s become and I’m so excited to see how he will grow in the future.

I was scared to marry someone I met at 19, it felt too young.

But, it’s the greatest gift.

He got to watch me drink my first beer. He got to watch me vote for president for the first time. He got to see me get many jobs and watched me get the job I have now- the longest time I’ve ever spent at a place.

I got to watch him visit the USA for the first time, I got to bring him to an American bar when he turned 21.

I got to cheer him on every single step he took.

And I love it. I love him so much!!!!!

Further context: Durham city council (Reform UK) cut funding and support for Pride. The Durham Miner's Association and other trade unions raised enough money for Durham Pride 2026 to go ahead - a direct call back to when Lesbian and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) raised money for mining communities when Margaret Thatcher seized union funding during the miner strikes of 1984-85.

At the 1985 Labour party meet, the motion to support LGBT rights as a party was passed due to a block vote from mining unions.

Stephen Guy, the chair of the Durham Miners’ Association, said that when it became apparent Durham Pride was under threat, he took it upon himself to “encourage the trade union movement to step up and do the right thing, and stand shoulder to shoulder with the LGBT+ community […] They not only raised funds for us, but came to our communities, uplifted our spirits when they were down, and showed their solidarity.”

I usually spend a lot of time editing and fine-tuning my comics so that they come across as polite and inoffensive. But honestly, I’m really tired of the way Asian cultures and countries are treated / talked about while Asian people themselves are excluded, and thought it was about time I really let my rage out lol.

the fact bear only tried to cancel his wish after being told he couldn’t alter it (and, seemingly, because he was uncertain about how real nikki’s love actually was) - instead of wanting to do that from the start, as soon as it was clear that something was wrong with nikki - makes me so, so devastated for her. it’s clear he was more concerned with what he was getting out of the wish, rather than the detrimental effect it was having. and like, everyone could tell something was up with nikki, it’s not as if it wasn’t clear. him hanging up the phone as soon as nikki is out on the line (screaming) is so symbolic of how he is completely ignoring how he is ruining her life throughout the film

also let’s discuss the complacency of the customer service guy on the line, how most men who aren’t awful like Bear don’t really care to do anything differently other than not involve themselves

Nikki is still trapped in a veil of what’s expected of her and what she wants, and trying to get through. And like most men confronted with female victims, he “cares” enough to make Bear uncomfortable but truly couldn’t be MORE indifferent.

Just a complete lack of interest in her suffering and instead using her pain to tell Bear that he “was just testing him” complete and utter hellscape for Nikki
