I can't beat this guy and I am bitter about it! [Please do not repost, translate, or dub this comic without contacting me first! Thank you!]
Update: I kicked his ass
a legendary post and we'll never know their name
Despair is the price one pays for self-awareness. Look deeply into life, and you’ll always find despair.

We’re getting more fanfiction, right?
I’ve seen a post a few years back that said something along the lines of “If you want to see more of [insert content here] then you better be willing to put some out there yourself/pay someone to do it and stop expecting others to do it for you for free” and it’s stuck with me ever since because, well, it’s true…
If I want some specific content and can’t find it then I just have to do it myself. Nevermind if I’m not that good of a writer or artist, heck, this just means I get to practice while putting content I want out there that others might enjoy too.
If there’s not enough of the content you want then you can commission someone to write/draw/etc. or start putting stuff out there so you can inspire others to do the same.
do you follow this person? Maybe before going on a screed about a joke, check their account to see if they do actually write this kind of fic. Because maybe if you did some research before going off, you'd know that they do, and are making a joke about something that very much does need to be called out anyway.
"If you want it write it yourself" is such a dumbass argument anyway. Writing is hard. Writing does not give the same enjoyment as reading. Not everyone has the physical or mental ability to write.
Also, grow some contextual awareness. The vast, vast majority of this sort of fic is female-centric, and calling out someone who is already writing masc and genderqueer fic only makes it look like you don't know what you're talking about.
No, I don’t make it a point to go through blogs about every single thing I see on my feed, but thank you for pointing that out. I’m not calling anyone out, just to be clear, but I can see how it can be taken that way and I apologize if that was how you took it.
I was only reacting to the image itself, and I still do stand by what I said when it comes to wanting some specific content. Wiriting is hard, yes, and I’m not forcing anyone to do it, it’s just my perspective on this topic in general (not just in this specific fandom, but others as well).
And yup, I do understand that majority of the content is written for females, but again that doesn’t change my mindset about wanting specific content. Comissioning writers or artists for content is also a viability, as well as just typing out a sentence or two yourself to try and get the ball rolling.
I used to post my writings a couple of years ago but deleted that blog because people were demanding and impatient about content they were getting FOR FREE. I just felt like I had to comment on this one, even if I didn’t know the OP was using it as a joke. Also, if OP would feel better about it I can always delete my reblogs or replies, if that’s poasible (OP can message me cause I don’t check here often).
And @lokiofsassgaard if my mindset is something you don’t agree with then we can stay out of each other’s way. The internet/world is a big place and we both have our own lives and ways on how we run it, and I doubt one missing stranger will be much of a problem. Thanks again for pointing out OP’s intentions with their post.
I was thinking about letting this go, but nah. You're doubling down, so I'm gonna as well.
First off, I happen to know OP. So yes, I do know his intentions with this post, because we've discussed this exact thing at length.
Second, you better not be commissioning fic. At least not out in the open, because that's a good way to get your favourite authors in a decent amount of trouble. Why do you think AO3 has a very strict policy about mentioning anything monetised on their site?
But of whom specifically was he demanding anything? Because this meme template is about foregone conclusions. Padme knows that whatever she assumed Anakin meant is wrong, and is desperately trying to convince herself otherwise. In this case, it's the cyclical nature of Fandom being both performative and fetishising in its allyship. And nothing shows that more than the recent trend of readerfic predominantly female. Yes, fandom has a reputation for being predominantly female, but that is becoming less and less the case as it becomes more easily accessible to young kids.
Fandom is also an outlet for a lot of these kids to explore their queerness, which is why so many people heavily identify with a character like Loki, who by his nature is very relatable no matter where you fall on the LGBT+ spectrum. So naturally one would think that with the way fandom was positively losing its collective shit over the MCU (half-assedly) confirming that he is bisexual and genderqueer, there would be an influx in fic which catered to male/masc/genderqueer partners. But anyone who's been in fandom for longer than a minute knew that would never happen, and lo. It hasn't. The people who were already writing it are still in the very small minority of people who wrote more. And these young lads and ducks who thought they'd finally get to participate in fandom a little bit more comfortable and frequently are rightfully disillusioned and angry.
And telling these kids to just "write it themselves" is so goddamn insensitive for reasons I've already discussed. And believe me. My 1.5 million words posted to AO3 is all the experience in the world needed to know that writing fic is fucking hard. A fic that takes fifteen minutes to read can take months to write for some people. Telling someone who's disillusioned and angry to "write it themselves" when all they're looking for is some fucking validation is just mean. When someone makes a complaint like this, the only solution you should be providing is a reclist. Otherwise, "Yes, I see you, king" is a much more helpful and friendly response than "write it yourself."
I don't even like readerfic, and I don't want high school kids anywhere near me in fandom spaces, but I will defend them to the death on this issue because being a queer man in fandom fucking sucks. It's an experience of being either fetishised or ignored.
Fucking "write it yourself." Get lost.
Again, I wasn’t targetting OP, just the general idea in the image. And I do apologize if you and OP have been hurt by what I typed, which is why I offered to delete them if that would help things. I also never said OP was demanding anything (or maybe you confused it with my experience of being demanded to write specific things?).
I have never posted on AO3 but do know about their site policies. I also do not know the origin of the image but know the general meme of it - as I’ve said, I didn’t know OP was making a joke of it because in my experience people do get entitled and demand things.
Also, I’m not forcing people to “write it themselves”. It’s just another suggestion of getting more of a specific content out there, nothing more. From my perspective it was a way to motivate me to write what I wanted to see, not as a way to dismiss. I can see how the phrase can anger you and I didn’t mean to cause harm, so for that I apologize again.
Did I see OP’s post in the “loki” tag? Yes, but when I commented on it it was in the mindset of general fandom, not just the loki fandom in general, because I’ve seen my fair share of entitled people demanding things for free as if I owed them something.
If you’d like to discuss more about it feel free to message me. I’m willing to talk about this more if you are. Sometimes there are things people aren’t aware of in a conversation and I find talking to understand disagreements and confusions can help. I’m not trying to antagonize you or OP, or brush off anyone that falls under the LGBTQ+ spectrum.

I am a little high but what if people proposed with beautiful, intricate knives. Ladies would gather around the table and be like “guess what finally happened!!” And pull this beautiful, intricate dagger out of her purse and all the other ladies would gasp and congratulate her
Me: I’m a little high but –
Y'all rushing to that reblog button:
It’s an awesome idea tho
Because I have a tag for pretty weaponry, some knives I’d accept as proposals follow:
I said yes!
(but, actually, hubby bought me a dive knife when we got married so this works…)
I can 100% get behind this as a new tradition.
Ok but this is amazing becuase knives are dangerous and you can use them to hurt other people but when someone proposes with one it’s symbolic like “yes I love you and trust you so much I’m asking you a very vulnerable question with something you could hurt me with but I know you won’t”
Mmh especially with the ‘down on one knee’ thing. Like kneeling before a royal to be knighted. Trusting them with the sword and that they won’t behead you, something else you would kneel for. Love it.
Reblogging for the pretty stabby things.
My wedding gift from my husband was a sword, so I support this idea.

this is my favourite review quote ever.
You don’t ask people with knives in their stomachs what would make them happy; happiness is no longer the point. It’s all about survival; it’s all about whether you pull the knife out and bleed to death or keep it in…

Don’t really know how to make it any clearer why I hate Thor Ragnarok. For those who believe Loki is nothing but a greasy, piece of shit asshole that deserves everything he gets, fine. Here’s your movie. I happen to think his fate is punishment enough, both for him and those who love him. No amount of denial can make these words go away, and I can’t just ignore it or pretend that that’s okay because Loki smiled and looked good in his suit. And, since when did reacting to people and things that hurt you with tears, anger and hate automatically make you a “tortured goth”?? Waititi doesn’t have a clue about Loki, and it’s obvious where his priorities were during the making of the movie.
waititi: wants to make a commentary on colonialism
also waititi: humiliates the victim of asgardian colonialism
Waititi: Thor movies should explore the ramifications of Asgardian imperialism
Thor 1: Gives a complex, sensitive portrait of a stolen child raised in ignorance of his heritage who suffers a mental breakdown from internalized racism when he finds out who he is and tries to prove his worth by going farther in the genocidal oppression of his people than any other Asgardian
Waititi: No, not like that
Waititi: It’s all just sort of boring. Rich kid problems, ya know?
Also Waititi: kills the majority of named Asgardian characters who aren’t royalty faster than you can blink
#shove your respectful disrespect up your ass#i felt thoroughly mocked for the entire runtime#respectful disrespect is shit like the tick or venture brothers#not thor ragnarok#i wish there was a corresponding set of all the awful stuff he said about thor too#just because recreating thor was the only thing he seemed to care about#doesn’t mean he did a good job with that either#yeah let’s laugh at the trauma of losing mjolnir or being forcible shaven#being attached to a hammer is silly#hair being symbolic of anything is silly#this entire franchise is just silly and that’s why it needs rehauled in a way that makes fun of it at every turn
@pyrebomb, I’ve seen an article that collects a bunch of the awful things Waititi said about all aspects of the franchise. I saved a Tumblr post with the link in my drafts folder a long-ass time ago and I’ve been meaning to expand the post with a list of the awful quotes, but I haven’t gotten around to it because of real life happening (and also consideration for my mental health).
me @ Ragnarok
I’m not going to tag this one as “Ragnarok critical” like usual because…honestly they’re Waititi’s own words.
“Here’s the thing about me guys, I did not really do my research. I read one issue of Thor as my research. Not even a graphic novel, one of the thin, thin ones. And by the end of it I was like, well we’re not doing that, let’s not really look at those anymore. Cool art, I love the art but I can’t stand the way everyone talks.”-Taika Waititi
“When you look at comic book characters we don’t have anything in common with them, especially not with this rich kid space Viking or this bipolar, angry green beast. So you’ve got to bring them into situations that all of us have been in, we’ve all been annoyed about our behavior and felt guilt about that.”-Taika Waititi
“I wasn’t really that keen on what Asgard looks like. Seems like quite a privileged place to live. It’s completely made of gold, it’s just full of nerds and scholars. Doesn’t seem like a party town, doesn’t seem like my kind of party town. Seems like a lot of people wandering around in robes holding books and talking about lofty ideas. Which is fine, but I don’t want to live on an entire world like that. I’d like to at least think there’s some Asgardian nightclubs but I’ve never seen any in any of the movies. It’s too gilded, it’s too sparkly.” -Taika Waititi
As an artist, his confession he didn’t do any goddamn research PISSES ME OFF. Do you know how many of the other actors read the comic books so that they would know the characters? This screams unprofessionalism. This fucker thinks so highly of himself that he believes his one movie is better than any movie that’s come before him. Why was he hired? Why is he hired again? I swear y’all, art is dying because the execs only want to make a quick buck.
Also, does he not seem like the most shallow person ever? What kind of 90’s bully bullshit is he talking about with “nerds” walking around looking at books. I swear y’all, that quote makes me think of Gaston when he picks up Belle’s book and goes “there’s no pictures. How can you even read this?” Thats the vibe I’m getting from this. He believes he’s so mighty but he seems like one of the most arrogant and shallow people ever. I would hate to work with him. I hope his career is over when people realize just how fucking idiotic this moron is.
You know why this movie sucks? Because it was made out of hate and jealousy. It was made out of ignorance and selfishness and arrogance. There was not one shred of love put into this movie.
My, what excellent tea.
Me when it comes to Taika’s feelings:
To all those people who think that we’re being unnecessarily negative and hateful towards Taika Waititi or Chris Hemsworth, please read all of the posts above.
This is why we don’t want Loki in Thor 4.
