The thing about Riordan deciding to rebrand the monsters in his books as "mythics" and act like they're an oppressed minority hunted by the half-bloods is that the first book established that it was literally the opposite. Half-bloods rarely survive to adulthood because monsters hunt them down and kill them. Monsters often put on human personas and take positions as teachers and social workers specifically so they can have easier access to half-bloods in order to murder them. The vast majority of half-bloods have very little power and are at the mercy of any monster who comes across them. Really powerful half-bloods like Percy and Thalia are a rarity. We see that the monsters own businesses and set elaborate traps for half-bloods while the demigods are reduced to hiding at a summer camp and hoping the monsters don't smell them. Even if the monsters do die, they just wait a little and come back. When a monster kills a half-blood, they're dead. This whole "oh the poor monsters mythics" bit is absurd revisionism of his own work.
