Dick proposes to Jason during a quiet evening in their apartment. both of them are in sweats and cuddled up together on the couch when Dick asks. but Jason says no. Dick has that one moment of devastation before Jason rushes to explain.

he isn't saying no because he doesn't love Dick or doesn't want to be with him and marry him. he's saying no because of the wedding. Jason explains that he has tried to respect the fact that Bruce and the Batfamily are still important to Dick. but they aren't to Jason. not anymore. Bruce had hurt him enough that he never wanted to have him in his life ever again. and the others weren't exactly safe people for him either.

and Jason quietly confessed that he had always fantasised about his wedding and what it would be like. and it was supposed to be the happiest day of his life with all the people who loved who loved him back. it was supposed to be a day where he could feel safe and happy and loved and relaxed. which could never happen around the Bats.

Jason says that he still wants to be with Dick forever. but he needs to stand his ground on the only healthy boundary he has ever attempted to set for himself. he doesn't want Bruce at his wedding. he might be able to tolerate the other Bats but he doesn't really want them there either. he can't do it.

he won't be able to enjoy a moment of his day. he'll be tense, uncomfortable and on guard the entire time. Bruce makes him feel judged and unsafe and unhappy. and his wedding day is a day he can't handle that on.

he wants to be able to smile and be carefree and emotional when him and Dick say their vows. he wants to be able to enjoy their first dance and goof around and act stupid with their friends. but he knows he doesn't have the ability to do that in Bruce's presence.

so yes, Jason would love to marry Dick. but he can't. because he can't bear to have Bruce at his wedding. and its something he cant bear to compromise on because its not just a minor thing for him, it would completely ruin the entire day for him. and he doesn't want to taint such a special day in their relationship. so while its breaking his own heart to not say yes, he has to.

Dick manages to calm himself down enough to listen to everything Jason has to say and he finds that he can understand. he's seen the way Jason's light dims the second he's stuck dealing with Bruce. and Dick realizes he doesn't want to see Jason like that on their wedding day either. so he makes a decision. he's going to marry Jason and he can start this new chapter of their relationship on this note. he's not going to invite Bruce to his wedding. in fact, hes going to make sure Bruce doesn't come. because for once in his life, Jason deserves to be someone's first priority. and Dick may love the other Bats, but he loves Jason more.

so he tells to Jason that he understands and can respect his feelings on the matter. Jason thinks thats the end of it but Dick continues. he tells Jason that he wants their wedding to be as good for Jason as it will be for him. and if that means no Bruce, that's okay. Bruce Wayne wont be at their wedding. now will Jason marry him?

and Jason doesn't waste a moment in saying yes.

Richie Wayne is spotted in a restaurant sitting across from a man with a white steak in his hair. he's holding hands with the unknown man across the table and has this happy besotted look on his face.

Dick and Jason have been dating for a while now and finally decided to stop keeping it a secret. but of course both of them are little shits and can't miss any chance to fuck with Bruce and the rest of the Bats so they decide to let them find out from social media and the papers instead of from them.

they go on a public date without bothering to disguise themselves. they dont really change how they interact with each other, just enjoying the date like one of their normal ones. but the definitely get caught by the cameras.

it doesn't take long before there are articles and social media posts about Richie Wayne's new mystery man. since it was so long after Jason's death and resurrection and Jason changed a lot since then, he wasn't recognised.

of course it doesn't take the Bats long after it goes public to find out. with the Batkids being chronically online and Bruce tracking any mention of his kids in the media. and while the media may not have recognised Jason, the Bats certainly did.

because that was Dick. with Jason. in civies. clearly on a date, not just hanging out. and then here comes the drama.

dimension travel and time travel au where past Nightwing travels to the future in an alternate dimension to when Jason is alive again and the Red Hood (the timeline isn't different. the dimension travel is only so that younger Dick can stick around at the same time as older Dick without needing to go back to his time).

like im imagining past Dick who was beefing with Bruce 24/7 and pissed at him all the time, even more so after Jason's death (Tim isnt in the picture yet maybe), and hes suddenly seeing this doormat version of himself that just defends Bruce's actions or goes along with them to keep the family together.

like maybe past Dick is absolutely baffled at how the future version of himself isnt Jason's number 1 fan. because despite being an ass at first, by the time Jason died, Dick had absolutely adored him. so why is future him so okay with Bruce having replaced Jason before he was even cold in the ground? and why does future him even tolerate Tim when Tim was the one who brought Robin back after Jason? and why does future Dick even bother being in the same place as Bruce or Alfred after they both bad mouthed Jason and destroyed his image? why does he still respect Alfred after he spoke badly about Jason who had loved him when he was alive and after Alfred kept turning a blind eye to Bruce's flaws and mistakes?

and why is future him not all over Red Hood? Jason is back and hot and skilled and smart. hes sassy and competent. younger Dick is literally drooling over him and would sell his soul for a kiss. not to mention the fact that Jason's hair dye has grown out a bit and that is definitely vibrant red hair hiding under the black. and that white streak looks so good.

and its not like Jason became some horrible person when he became the Red Hood. he's still introverted, still loves to read, loves to learn. he still cares so much about all the people no one else seems to care about. he loves children. he respects women. he protects people. he still doesn't know how to accept a compliment. hes hard working too.

older Dick gets a serious reality check and realizes how much he has changed himself to conform to what Bruce and the family needed instead of staying true to himself and his beliefs. he had taken on the emotional responsibilities that should've been Bruce's. he contributed to Bruce being the way he was now by not stopping him.

and younger Dick sets the record straight about a lot of the false information that had been spread about Jason. he is also determined to land Jason as his boyfriend and does eventually succeed so hes having a blast in this new dimension. he has an amazing man (who makes fantastic food). and he doesn't have to deal with Bruce unless he wants to. and he gets to make sure he doesn't become like older Dick who he will happily lecture any time.

My headcanon for Jason (this is purely how I interpret his character, I don’t hold the absolute truth, if you do not agree with something I am open to debate as long as it is done in respect) now bear with me for this:

I truly think that Jason is one of those character that should not be involved romantically (at least in comics) cause he is so traumatized that except if he works on his traumas (this doesn’t seem to happen much like give this man a therapist) then he won’t be able to maintain a stable relationship, because Jason is unstable mentally (and it’s normal with everything that happened). Now let me explain why I think jaydick is actually the only relationship that could potentially work.

Jason is for me unable to trust people after everything that happened (got betrayed by everyone that was a parental figure to him.) which leave a fuck tone of trust issues so he wouldnt be able to truly create a bond where he trust someone to be 100% himself because when he was himself didn’t everyone leave?

Now comes in Dick, they know each from before his death and even if Dick had been really mean to him, I still like to think that he was protective of Jason if anything happened. (The « only me can insult the shit out of my brother » typa thing) so Jason did trust Dick, somewhere a bit twisted because his brother was still rude to him but that same brother was also the first Robin and I personally think Jason really idolize Robin/Dick to the point there was this strange paradox happening in his mind of Robin not excatly being Dick his brother, they were two different person/persona to him. They exist together without really existing together if you get what I mean.

Post death Jason’s mind, full of trauma as previously mention would seek for any kind of comfort, anything that would help him to cope. Mix complicated feelings together and you get him getting pretty easily attach but his trust issues are so bad that he distant himself from everyone before he can even start taking a liking to them or get too attached.

Except Dick, and why? Well I like to think that Jason’s mind assiociate Dick to safety. For plenty reasons:

-Dick defended him when they were younger. A creep trying to flirt with Jason? Dick was fucking that person up. Someone being rude to Jason? Dick would stand up for him. Bruce scolding Jason a bit too harsh? You can be sure that if Dick heard of it then Bruce would be also hearing it. (So this uncounsciously made Jason know that someone would stand up for him and now that he think that no one cares, his mind still remember that, holding into it like a lifeline.)

- Dick being Robin. Robin is a sign of safety for him and after his death, when he start seeing Dick again it is not the same rude boy he once knew, it’s a bright bubbly person, the same way he idolize Robin. So he uncounsciously link it together. Dick now acts like his twisted, perfect version of the original Robin.

-Dick also have a complicated relationship with Bruce so this is somewhere they can relate together, they have been deceived by the same person. (btw I’m not saying Bruce is an horrible person, just he made mistakes)

-Jason looked up to Dick and he still do deep down.

So they have history together, this is not a complete stranger that Jason need to learn about or test if they are truly to be trusted. Which make it easier for him to trust Dick, or at least try to trust Dick. Because Jason still doubt him, he had been hurt by Dick but he also sees Robin and someone that seems to care for him. After some months of awkward talking Jason start to feel ease around Dick, like his mind feels safe, remember feelings Jason was not aware of.

Them being adopted brothers can also play a part in it, at least on Jason’s side because if we take a look into why Jason is doing all this (okay there is revenge) but I also think there is a need for him to break the perfect little boy image. Like he listened to Bruce trusted him and yet he wasn’t even advenged. So he wants to break codes, morals make himself feel seen as someone that do not listen anymore. And Dick being Bruce’s son? Even better for him. Uncousciouly he can get the one person Bruce care for, the one golden child of the family. And it feels good to know that the one person he sees as perfect is caring for him.

I feel like JayDick dating would heal both of them, or at least help to heal something. They are so similar, two side of the same coin. (I refer you to one of my previous post if you want more detail on that part.) They know each other’s anger, sadness, joy. So Jason does not have to explain anything, his anger was once Dick’s anger (still is sometime).

I like to think that their feelings are not really explanable. They love each other in every way possible. It still takes a while for them to start dating even if they never put a word on it (because the love they held for each is so strong and special that there is no right word for it), Jason is scared to make a mistake, to hurt Dick because he knows that he won’t be able to keep an healthy relationship and the ironic thing is that Dick is neither good to keep healthy relationship.

They both struggle with mental health, I think they are pretty similar on that so they understand and knows what to expect. Yes sometime it would be toxic and messed up but they are both like that. Jason and Dick for me have bdp (borderline personality disorder), even if they don’t live it the same way.

So sometime Jason would say things he will regret because he thought that Dick was about to leave and he got triggered, had a bad phase and feel awful when he is finallly out of it and sometime he would fall in right after again, alternative between being extremely rude and saying horrible to apologiesing with his all being because he feels so shameful and awful.

And any other person would have start to really struggle and think about leaving when this happen at least three time a week and if on a bad one then everyday but Dick also do it sometime, differently, he would more hurt himself to indirectly hurt Jason but the point is that they understand, it’s easy to forgive because they know how it feels, they know how awful it is to hurt the other, that it’s stronger than them sometime, that they are just scared to lose the other.

But one thing about them is that they would try to get better. It’s hard, messy and probably not the best way to go through it but they do it. They are willing to try because they care deeply for each other. Jason is codepend, or get easily copedent and so is Dick. I think it’s work because it is so unhealthy that it become healthy for them. And it shouldn’t work but it actually does, they are just so damn stubborn that it works. They bleed on each others but make sure to clean it every single time.

So you could call them partners,brothers,friends,lovers anything and it would work. They live together, they live for each other, they stay alive for each other. They tries to keep contact with other people, knowing that staying only the two of them is everything except helpful so Jason agrees to speak to Bruce for Dick, Dick agrees to work on his relationship with Bruce for Jason. If they do something it’s for the others.

They also together try to repair their broken little family, they do that for the little boys in them. The one who just wanted a family but got met with broken glass, a ghost of what it could have been. And maybe that’s also another reason why them being adopted brothers help, they are their own family as well as their own marriage, this time one that do not end up in blood or drugs.

So I think Dick is the only person Jason could date because they went through the same things, survived Bruce trying to raise a child while being unstable himself, they survived traumatic events, they are both messed up, wounded and exhausted with life. They are never truly themselve except when they are together. For me they are the reflection of each others and that’s why it works.

Leo has to teach Jason how to do dishes since he never had to at camp Jupiter

they’re constantly doing small things for each other that the other doesn’t know abt. Jason always restocks Leo’s favorite food and Leo always cleans Jason’s glasses when he’s asleep, things like that

They can’t watch movies together after 10 because Jason always falls asleep

Jason has to remind Leo to not talk so loud after working in his garage because he got used to having to speak super loud over the machines

before they get a pet like a cat or dog they get some fish and both get really really attached to them

Leo’s constantly leaving tools around the house from fixing doing house repairs (wobbly tables, creaky hinges, etc)

Jason is always losing his glasses and only Leo ever knows where they are. Jason loses them so much that he doesn’t even have to ask if Leo seen them for him to answer. He just walks in the room and Leo goes “on the locked counter, next to the cutting board”

they’re fridge is super duper chaotic. It has their schedules, Leo’s blueprints, Jason little notes, magnets from places they’ve traveled, and the dumb stuff Piper writes on the whiteboard

when they eventually do get a pet Leo loves to refer to it as their child saying he carried it for nine months and he won’t let Jason erase his hard work

they LOVE to just watch eachother work. Leo loves to watch Jason make plans/layouts for minor god shrines and Jason loves to watch Leo build gadgets, legos, and whatever else he’s focused on that day

I just realized that,since in the universe Riordan inserted himself as one of CHB's scribes,the characters could just tell him to go fuck himself if they don't want to share their adventures or don't like how he portray them in their stories. And this has been my favorite thing I realized today so far.

Honestly,this is kind of a funny way to see this,like it's some sort of actor AU,and it helps me to cope with all the bullshit that Riordan is pulling at this point. Also,does this implies that Riordan is exploiting a bunch of kids/teenager for living? Because that would be kinda dark. These people get already exploited enough by the Gods,and now there is a noisy guy that wants to do the same and know everything about their lives. Idk why they didn't rebel or questioned him at some point in the universe.

LISTEN! I KNOW Lupa in canon is terrible, but I've read greek and roman myths my entire life! (Wayyy before I ever touched pjo like genuinely the greek myth aspect is what drew me in) Soooooo IMO with such a young hero Lupa would have taken that boy into her pack and probably raised him similar to Remus and Romulus. Think about it-

- very young Jason being picked up by the wolves and Lupa looking at this toddling little thing with a scar on his lip and instead of training him to be a soldier she just takes care of him like a pup? She has a pack and there's probably a few different wolf pups around so she takes to caring for Jason like that.

- it would help separate him from others in the storyline (I'm thinking about how kids who were raised by animals for any amount of time have trouble adjusting to society again) and make him think something was inherently wrong about himself.

- he would definitely have to go back when he was older and I think that's just kinda neat. Like, he's a freak and a weirdo and he has to go back to training with Lupa. (-He's a failure of a roman-)

- Wolf Jason Grace holds a very special place in my heart and Lupa being the best mom this boy has ever had lends itself SO WELL to that idea. Like, it fits his canon too!

- He's loyal to his pack (at first the romans and then the greeks and then the Seven™) and is willing to put down his own life for them (very standard wild wolf behavior) and not to mention Lupa probably instilled part of his need to lead just because any kid will copy the closest thing to a parent they have!

AUGH just good mom Lupa nursing Jason because he's not old enough to cook his own food even if he DOES help hunt but none of the other wolves can cook and she knows it's important that humans not eat raw meat, but her baby needs protein to help grow big and strong (Jason DOES end up with a slight lactose intolerance bc wolf milk and cow milk have very different enzymes) and she'll be damned if he doesn't.

- Not to mention it could be a whole "You aren't XYZ because you are too XYZ" thing. Like he's so far removed from a modern roman because he was quite literally raised like Romulus and Remus were

The parents.

Silena’s father when he realised she never came back after the battle of manhattan. Sending her that box of chocolates, not knowing that it may be the last time she’d ever be able to try them.

All the other parents to the deceased heroes, realising when winter comes, that their children haven’t returned. That their children didn’t make it that summer.

Imagine the grief and guilt. If they had just had a normal mortal child with a normal mortal partner instead of a god or goddess, then maybe their family wouldn’t be a mess. Maybe their child would have never died fighting monsters that shouldn’t exist.

Maybe some parents don’t even know that their children are demigods. Take piper for example.

Rest in peace to the fallen heroes and fallen angels. But it hurts even more when you remember they had parents. Siblings. Family.

Anyways, thanks for reading my thought dump. I just thought of this at 3AM when I couldn’t sleep one night and safe to say, I got quite upset. It’s horrible to think about but I wonder if anyone else has ever thought this.

Gonna be honest Jason should've been more powerful than Percy and the only reason he wasn't is because Percy's the main character. Don't get me wrong, I love Percy, but like. Jason's the son of the king of the gods who is also king of everything. He was training as a soldier nonstop ever since he was a BABY unlike Percy who only had five summers. He is literally the leader of all of the Romans. He defeated a Titan (Krios) pretty much by himself. He can fly and he has insane lightning powers. HE WAS RAISED BY MAGIC WOLVES. He literally had to be unconscious half the time to justify him not doing anything.

Even if he's not MORE powerful he should at least be equally powerful. He should've been able to go toe-to-toe with Percy without issue. Like come on now. What are we doing
