Dick’s early years as Robin are just. You are ten years old. Tomorrow you have a math test. Last night you saved ten lives. You could not save the two that mattered most. Neither could he, which is why you are here. A year ago you spent your days in a trailer and your nights beneath the big top, and you were never more than 10 feet away from someone who loved you. Now you are adrift in a mansion full of ghosts. You want to go home. You climb up to the highest attic and scream as loud as you can just to see if anyone will hear you. For the crime of losing your parents, they put you in a cell. At night you leap from skyscrapers and remember how to fly. You go to bed and watch them fall. Sometimes you wake up and you are so full of anger you don’t know how you can survive it. You are trying to survive it. You want to kill a man. You rescue a baby from a burning building and his mother calls you an angel. You eat an ice cream cone on top of a gargoyle. You do not want another father. You need a friend. There is a secret only four people in the whole world know. You are one of them.

Hi anon, yes I do. I suppose you mean artists who still draw brudick, bcs I know quite a few are still active, but don't draw ship art anymore or have moved on to other fandoms. Before I mention them tho, I'd like to thank all these incredible artists for creating beautiful artwork for us brudick enthusiasts to enjoy, and for keeping the fandom alive!

dick grayson everytime he experienced even just a little bit of inconvenience

thinking of ways to torment dick grayson tonight. do you think after Bruce "dies" he's going through old files and finding all of the personal annotations Bruce would leave on closed cases when no one else would look at them. and Bruce is ruthlessly trying to maintain objectivity in how he talks about dick and doing a really bad job of it, and none of these things were things he ever told Dick. dick just keeps reading and reading it's like a compulsion, all this shit Bruce never wanted him to know - and most of it how much he worried about dick. how much he missed him. how afraid he was that he would make a mistake bad enough that dick would leave again, permanently.

and meanwhile dick is looking at the dates and thinking of how at the time Bruce was writing this Dick himself was wondering if he really factored into Bruce's thoughts at all anymore. but Bruce never said anything, and they didn't really get to fix it, only grow around it, and now they never will.

and he's reading all of this while wearing Bruce's skin, and raising Bruce's son, having stepped into a life he does not want and that is an active form of self-annihilation because the thing he never told Bruce is that Bruce didn't need to be afraid of any of that. no matter how hard he tries he can't leave Bruce behind.
