this morning I went to the gym at 6am and I couldn't lift anything near my normal weights as my body was still mentally in bed and physically stiff as a board so honestly I don't really see the point.

At work we interact with the TUPE process a fair bit, and the guy I was in a meeting with kept called it the "toupee" list. I had to struggle to keep a straight face. I had encountered someone years ago who said it that way, forgot who it was, then he said toupee and it all came rushing back - we've found our man.
When I need to remind myself to put something on the grocery list and I don't have my phone on me, I use the Scrabble tile magnets on the fridge. But sometimes I don't have enough of the right letters and have to get creative.
The list is getting longer and we are running out of letters.
something deeply intimate about being outside early in the morning all alone and seeing the world as she is
It's the Royal Academy of Art Young Artist's Summer Show. One of my favourite exhibitions of the year. Like. Not only are the older kids insanely talented, the younger ones' artist statements will just punch you right in the face.

My current Sophie's choice: toothpaste with sodium lauryl sulfate gives me perioral dermatitis around my mouth, so I stopped using it and it cleared up immediately.
But. toothpaste without SLS gives me brown staining in the bits between my teeth and near my gums, the likes of which I've never had in my life. I floss twice a day, haven't changed anything else about my routine. It came on in the space of about a month and has just got worse and worse, it's alarming. I can't find anything on the internet about this!
So I am currently slathering my mouth with Nivea while brushing my teeth with SLS toothpaste and hoping for the best. Already the staining is getting slightly better. Wtf though.
once I snorted a fat line of nuance and everything started depending. watch out
i would rather walk 50 minutes than wait 10 minutes for a bus, even if the bus overtakes me on the way. I despise waiting for the bus.

This was playing in the gym this morning, I forgot I love this song. I've been finding or being reminded of loads of great songs by chance - in the supermarket, in b&q, at the credits of TV shows. It's my favourite way to find music.
ugh! I didn't get up early enough to go for a walk before it got really hot so I feel a bit trapped in the house. And while it's nice and cool, I really hate the feeling of a fan blowing on me so I'm feeling very bothered rn.
however funny or essential they are, I will always resent a book with footnotes. My brain just goes "I ain't reading that".. but I do. And let's be honest 90% of the time I resent the author for making me do so.
i have literally never been more confused by a book's premise than Taiwan Travelogue. I cannot work out who's real and who isn't.
I think I'm reading a book by a real author written in mandarin, which was translated into English by a real translator who adds footnotes throughout. But alongside these real translator's footnotes are a fake translator's footnotes who is writing about the original mandarin novel? And the entire novel is a translation of a fake novel. I can't even explain this in writing. Utterly confused. What's written by a character (which includes a fictional translator?), what's written by the author, and what's written by the real translator?
