sad news, my son Crispin Shopify III saw a picture of me when i was breastfeeding him as a baby. the psychiatrists all agreed that exposure to this act which is potentially incestuous and sexual was equivalent to infinite permanent sexual trauma, and so we've decided to euthanize him and just start again from the beginning. hopefully i wont fuck it up again this time. god bless.

When I took ASL classes, my teacher explained that interpreters should interpret EVERYTHING, including slurs and things that they’d normally be uncomfortable saying. She said something along the lines of “deaf people have the right to swear.” I think that applies to what they’re allowed to see as well.

Why shouldn’t deaf people be able to fully express themselves and consume media the same way a hearing person can? If everything you watched had random bleeps every time there was a swear word, you’d be annoyed, so why are deaf people not receiving the same consideration?

Yeah it's call functional equivalency, when providing a service to a disabled person you are to provide a functionally equivalent experience to what a not disabled person would have. For example people who provide captions for phone calls cannot even be subpoenad to testify in court because a hearing person wouldn't have had anyone listening to thier call so the functional equivalent is those people do not legally exist.

When providing services for the disabled you should strive for functional equivalence, if it ain't censored for a hearing person don't censor it for a deaf/hoh person, easy as

My favorite Philomena Cunk bits are when she's talking to Professor Ronald Hutton, who specializes in folklore and paganism in the British Isles. Mainly because she's trying her damnest to throw him off by asking the stupidest questions she can think of, and he's not even phased because he's a folklore and paganism historian so OF COURSE he's been asked worse questions in earnest.

He's one of my favorite TV historians and shows up in Farm Series and its related shows a lot to contextualize the festivals and rituals they do on there and explain what they meant to the people who lived in the time period. One of my favorite lectures he gives on is about bonfires and the superstition around the Bloody Flux and how we had no idea what actually caused it until some fairly recent humanitarian crises.
